Emerging Potential on Laser Engraving Method in Fabricating Mold for Microfluidic Technology 1

The microfluidic device needs multi-step fabrication, and this process relatively takes time because it requires meticulous treatment. This approach, using laser engraving, reduces the conventional mold fabrication step which is created by soft lithography in the cleanroom. For biomedical research purposes, a certain dimension of the microfluidic design needs to be achieved. Meanwhile, different material needs different variable setting in laser engraving. This article’s research objectives are seeking the optimum variable to achieve targeted dimension and investigating the influenced parameters lead to better understand the laser engraving fabrication process. The Poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) sheets had been engraved to a particular dimension refers to the mold design that uses in the microfluidic device. The result showed that parameters meet the desired dimension found at values: 1000 for resolution, 95 for power, 500 for frequency, and 60 for speed. It can be noted that these adjusted parameters were performed for a single passage. Moreover, these influenced parameters also had been investigated to see their effect related to the engraving result. The result showed that the speed was the most significant parameter meanwhile the frequency has a stagnant value in the laser engraving process. This study also observed that higher resolution could smoother the rough surface. This study emerges the potential of laser engraving as rapid prototyping machinery for microfluidic technology. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Composite is a material that combines two or more materials that basically dissimilar chemical or physical properties from one another. In this research, we used Acropora coral reef waste particulate and Resin Polyester BQTN type 157 with Methyl ethyl ketone peroxide (MEKP) 1% as the hardener. The Hand Lay-Up molding technique is used in the process of making the material. The tensile and flexure test is done according to the ASTM D3090 and ASTM D790 – 03 standards. The purpose of this research is to discover the means to produce a composite enhanced by Acropora coral reef waste with polyester matrix and to learn the tensile and flexure strength from the Acropora coral reef waste particulate-enhanced polyester composites with mass fraction varieties of 10%, 20%, 30%, and 40%. The tensile test result of Acroporal coral reef waste particulate with polyester matrix yields average tensile strength at mass fraction variety of 40% with a score of 19,66 MPa, with an Modulus score of 636,75 MPa. The flexure test result of Acropora coral reef waste particulate with polyester matrix yields average flexure stress at mass fraction variety of 40% with a score of 112,56 MPa, with an average Elastic Modulus score of 3098,96 MPa. © 2021 Trans Tech Publications Ltd, Switzerland.

West Java, Indonesia, is located in the northern part of the subduction zone between the Australian and Eurasian plates, with a complex tectonic setting and high seismicity level. In 2016, Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) and Australia National University (ANU) deployed 85 temporary seismometers to investigate this area. We constructed the shallow crust profile by applying the Ambient Noise Tomography (ANT) method to improve our knowledge of the tectonic condition in West Java. In this research, we used the north-south (NS) and east-west (EW) components to extract the Love waves Green's function. We first rotated the NS and EW daily data series to obtain the transverse component. We then pre-processed the transverse daily data and applied cross-correlation to all station pair data. The daily cross-correlated data is stacked to obtain the Love waves Green's function. The Green's function in this study is clearly seen in the 1-25 s period band. The obtained Green's function will be analyzed further to get the Love waves group velocity which then will be inverted to obtain the shear wave velocity (Vs) profile beneath the study area. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

One of the critical visual components in video game creation is 3D asset prototypes, which also require significant effort. A procedural model using the L-system method for making low-poly buildings can address this issue. This model produces low-poly buildings based on simple parameters input by the user. The model receives input in the form of axioms, which are then processed according to predetermined L-system rules. After the building is formed, it is saved as a prefab in Unity so that it can be reused and modified by the user. The proposed method is implemented to our turn-based tactic *** and provided as a Unity package (add-on). Experimental results show that the buildings generated by the model have a minimalistic yet functional benefits.

Poverty is considered a serious global issue that must be immediately eradicated by Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1, namely ending poverty anywhere and in any form. As a developing country, poverty is a complex issue faced by Indonesia. Tackling poverty in Indonesia has become a key focus of the government’s strategic priorities. This issue of poverty is experienced by all provinces in Indonesia, including Central Java. The poverty rate in Central Java stands at 10.77% or 3.79 million people. The causes of poverty are explained by several factors. Using these various factors, a mapping model can be conducted to determine the number of poor populations in Central Java. This research employs Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) and Mixed Geographically Weighted Regression (MGWR) approaches to compare the effectiveness of these models in analyzing the number of poor populations in Central Java in 2023. The kernel function weighting used in this study is Fixed Gaussian. The results showed that the MGWR model outperformed both the OLS regression and GWR models, achieving an Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) of 62.766, an R2 of 82.3%, and a Mean Squared Error (MSE) of 0.177. Consequently, it can be inferred that the MGWR model was more suitable for explaining the poverty levels in Central Java. © (2024), (International Association of Engineers). All Rights Reserved.

This research explores the use of a modified infrared (IR) camera equipped with a high-pass filter to distinguish between natural objects (vegetation) and artificial objects (synthetic military uniforms) in an environment where vegetation makes objects difficult to detect. In military operations, especially guerrilla warfare in tropical forests, detecting enemies camouflaged in vegetation makes it difficult to distinguish targeted objects. Visible light cameras usually struggle to distinguish between synthetic and natural colors. This methodology involves the use of Python programming and various libraries, such as Computer Vision (CV), to process images captured by modified cameras. A graphical user interface (GUI) was developed to analyze color values, focusing on the red, green, and blue spectra. The results show that the modified IR camera can more effectively separate synthetic and natural object color peaks compared to a standard visible light camera, offering potential applications in military reconnaissance and sniper operations. This research demonstrates how image processing can improve object detection in complex environments. © 2024 IEEE.

The representatives of student associations at Private University are entrusted with the responsibility of empowering, facilitating, and nurturing the growth of the students, lecturers, and alumni within their respective programs. If the elected representatives do not align with the general consensus, problems are bound to arise. Therefore, student participation during the annual voting period is of utmost importance. When voting participation is low, the risk of the majority voice not being heard increases. Data from the General Election Commission in the private university reveals that among the four student associations in the Tech and IT faculty, three of them have a participation rate lower than 50%.This research aims to develop an E-Voting system for Student Associations within the university, with the intention of replacing the currently utilized Google Form system and enhancing student participation in future voting periods. While constructing an electronic voting system, the security and confidentiality of participants are vital. The Paillier homomorphic encryption algorithm is employed in the system to encrypt and decrypt voting messages sent by voters, ensuring their confidentiality. This algorithm was chosen due to its relative recency, speed, and relevance to this research in comparison to other algorithms. A user acceptance test conducted using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) has demonstrated that the application has been successfully developed, with user assessments of 87.50% for perceived ease of use, 72.27% for perceived usefulness, 74.74% for behavioral intention, and 86.46% for actual usage.

A new VGOS (VLBI Global Observing System) radio telescope will be constructed at Bosscha Observatory Lembang, West Java, in cooperation between Shanghai Astronomical Observatory (SHAO) and Institut Teknologi Bandung. One of the preparation steps is to conduct RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) measurements to obtain the RFI environment from the vicinity of the observatory. In this work, we report preliminary measurements of the RFIs that were done for several days in August and September 2023. Instruments used includes: A-INFOTM LB-20180 horn antenna, Wright TechnologiesTM low noise amplifier, and AaroniaTM Spectran V5 80200 OEM spectrum analyzer. The frequency range of 2.0 - 18.0 GHz is targeted referring to VGOS frequencies. Measurements in one day are carried out for about 24 hours in eight cardinal directions and two polarizations. The results and analysis are presented in spectral power flux density plots. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The available of conventional fuels are fluctuating depend on distribution from the source production to consumer. The availability of biogas as renewable energy is increasing due to establishments of many organic wastes processing worldwide. The need of electricity to support daily life activity is a must, but the availability of electric source in remote area is limited especially for a farm that far away from commercial line distribution of electricity. This work is dedicated to solve this problem. The single cylinder 4 stroke spark ignition engine (83 cc) was designed to be able to be fuelled flexibly by using biogas or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), or gasoline if sometime the biogas not available during initiation of the process or during maintenance of anaerobic digester. The engine is still can be run to provide electricity by using conventional fuel such as LPG or gasoline. The full consumption as well as emission of this flexible fuel engine was investigated. It is found that the fuel consumption is 9.97 L/mint for Biogas, 0.004 L/mint for gasoline and 2.24 L/mint for LPG. Surprisingly by using biogas the emission of carbon monoxide (CO) was down to almost zero (0.02 ppm), comparing gasoline 0.32 ppm, and LPG 0.4 ppm. © 2021 Trans Tech Publications Ltd, Switzerland.

Background: Propolis from Sulawesi's stingless bees (Tetragonula biroi) contains antioxidants, more flavonoids than propolis from Apis bees, and the antibacterial ability. Objective: to examine the antibacterial properties of Propolis Nanoemulsion Extract (PNE), which is extracted from the Celebes Stingless Bee (T. biroi), in relation to the periodontopathogen bacteria such as Fusobacterium nucleatum (Fn), Porphyromonas gingivalis (Pg), Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (Aa), and Provotella intermedia (Pi). This investigation also examines PNE's phytochemistry, particle size analysis (PSA), and zeta potential. Methods: The maceration process with 96 % ethanol was used to create PNE from Celebes stingless bee (T. biroi), which was then subjected to zeta potential measurement and PSA. Phytochemical analysis was used to identify phytochemical constituents in the PNE (T. biroi). Diffusion zone, minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC), and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) were used to assess antibacterial efficacy against Aa, Pg, Pi, and Fn. Furthermore, the statistical analysis was used to extract the data. Results: Phenols, alkaloids, and flavonoids were identified;however, triterpenoids and saponins were not. Between 151.28 and 182.2 diameter nanometers (***) was the range of the PNE's diameter. At 1.56 % propolis (T. biroi) concentration, the MIC, MBC, and diffusion zone analysis performed better than at 0.76 %, with a significant difference (p:0.01;p < 0.05) to Aa, Pg, Pi, and Fn. Conclusions: The highest antibacterial activity against Aa, Pg, Pi, and Fn as periodontopathogen bacteria is demonstrated by alkaloids, flavonoids, and phenols in PNE from Celebes (T. biroi) at a concentration of 1.56 %. © 2025 The Authors
