An integrated conceptual framework for sustainable agroindustry

Sustainable Sustainable agroindustry is an important concept that is often cited by academics and practitioners in the field. However, its definition and underlying constructs are rarely discussed. This paper provides a review and summary of different frameworks that are used to define and understand sustainable agroindustry. This review is summarized and synthesized into a single conceptual framework of a business model for shaping sustainable agro-industry. The main concepts to be discussed are agro-industry, business models, and sustainability. The expected outcome of this single conceptual framework is for agro-industry development by identifying key elements of strategic initiatives for further research. The business model can support the realization of sustainable agro-industry by taking into account three aspects of the indicator namely economic, social and environmental. These three indicators must be met in creating a business model by taking into account aspects of the business model that includes value creation, value delivery and value capture. A single conceptual framework of business models for sustainable agro-industry can be created if three aspects of the business model can meet the three main indicators for sustainable agro-industry.

The maternal mortality rate because of cesarean delivery is still high caused by lack of knowledge of pregnant women about the high risk of pregnancy. Cesarean delivery is an alternative labor but remains at high risk for both mother and fetus. The awareness of the mother to check her pregnancy early and precisely is very important. To support the awareness attitude of pregnant women to their health, so in this research has made an application program for the mobile application based on Android by using Naïve Bayes classification model to predict early childbirth process that will be undertaken. From this research, it can be concluded that the application of the baby delivery method estimation with Naïve Bayes model based on Android can educate pregnant women about high-risk pregnancy condition and prediction of delivery method that will be done with 90% accuracy, 100% sensitivity, and 80% specificity. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Kelase is an E-learning program that has been applied in the Agricultural Technology Education (PTP), especially in the Toxicology and Food Safety courses. This study aims to analyze application and acceptance of PTP students to Kelase, as well as variable correlation and linearity used in the Technology Accepted Model (TAM) method. The independent variables in this study consisted of variables perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness, while the observation variable was acceptance. Techniques for collecting data through giving questionnaires. The questionnaire instrument was tested for its validity and reliability. Data measurement scale uses Likert scale. Data processing uses IBM SPSS 20.0 software. The results show that level of perception of PTP student admissions is very high, which is between 70.1-91%. The correlation of TAM variable is significant and positive. Both variables, perceived ease of use (X1) and perceived usefulness (X2), are very influential on acceptance (Y) and both of these variables simultaneously influence the level of student acceptance of Kelase. The regression determination coefficient is generated, which is 52%. These results indicate that the influence of variables perceived ease of use (X1) and perceived usefulness (X2) is only 52%, and the rest, which is 48% influenced by other variables.

The complete mitochondrial genome of spotted snakehead fish,Channa punctata(Bloch 1793) was determined by MiSeq platform. The genome was 16,409 bp in length, in which canonical 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNAs, 2 rRNAs, and a control region (D-Loop) were encoded. Relatively higher overall A + T contents (53.70%) was identified compared with G + C contents (46.30%). Among 13 protein-coding genes, only one unusual start condon (GTG) was identified in COX1, whereas six genes includingCOXII,COXIII,NAD2,NAD3,NAD4, andCytbwere ended with the incomplete stop codons (TA-/T–). Based on the currently identified mitogenomes of Channa fish species,C. punctatawas most closely related toChanna gachuawith 82% sequence identity.

Red guava as fruit jams normally preserved using added sugar to prolong its shelf life. Heating process and different sugar content could affect in nutrient content and expiration date. Hence, the aim of this study was to evaluate the nutrient content and shelf life of jams based on two different sugar content. Two hundred (jam A) and two hundred and fifty grams of sugar (jam B) was added in 800 grams of guava then cooked at 70°C within an hour. Protein and fat was measured using Kjeldahl and soxhlet, while water and ash content was analyzed using thermogravimetry and dry ash method. Carbohydrate was calculated using by difference method. Shelf life determination was obtained using organoleptic test, containing taste, aroma, and visual sensory. In result, jam A have a higher protein (0.334%), fat (1.567%), and water (29.21%) than jam B (0.306%;1.092%;27.32%). On the other hand, ash (0.34%) and carbohydrate (68.549%) in jam A are lower than B (0.37% and 70.912 respectively). Overall, jam A have a higher protein, fat, water and carbohydrate content than jam B. A higher water content potentially indicate a lower shelf life which seen in jam A. In conclution, terms of nutritional composition, jam A have higher content than jam B, but have lower shelf life. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The process of continuous landfill in the area of the final disposal (landfill) of waste produces pollutants such as leachate (leachate) is a liquid containing dissolved substances and suspended very fine as a result of waste decomposition by microbes. Leachate water contains decomposing organic materials and heavy metal materials. Heavy metals (Cr, Hg, Pb, Cu, Fe, Mn, Zl, Cl) present in leachate water are from waste that has been disposed to TPA Keudah Kota Banda Aceh. The author would like to do research on the adsorption of heavy metals by using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer in landfill leachate Banda Aceh. The purpose of this research is to get the absorption of some heavy metals in the landfill leachate by using AAS analysis method. The results of the analysis in landfill leachate solution Banda Aceh by using Atomic Adsorption Spectrohotometer its highest uptake in heavy metal parameters Iron (Fe) amounted to 10.9191 ppm, and is followed by the parameters of heavy metals (Ni) 0.9820 ppm, ( Zn) 0.4188 ppm, (Co) 0.1698, (Cu) 0.1198 ppm, (Pb) 0.0602 ppm, (Cr) 0.0502 ppm, (Hg), and (Cu) Cd) the results are not detected (ND). Considering that Indonesia in the future is still faced with environmental pollution problem as a result of the development, the restoration and rehabilitation of contaminated land needs to get mutual attention, such as by using dilution method, stabilization, and phytoremdiation technique. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Surface and Subsurface Fracture Zones Modeling Using Automatic Lineament Analysis and Geostatistical Method, with Case study of Wayang Windu Geothermal Field, West Java, Indonesia

Geological structures such as faults and fractures in a geothermal prospect area might be an indication of a permeable zone for geothermal fluids through fractures that appear inside the rocks. Such geological structures can be identified by lineaments in satellite images and aerial photographs. In this study, we determine the effect of pixel size on the results of automatic lineament extraction and examine the relationship between lineaments at the Wayang Windu geothermal field (WWGF) and nearby geothermal areas, automated lineament results which were extracted from digital elevation models (DEMs) with pixel sizes of 0.5 m, 1 m, 2 m, 3 m, 4 m, 5 m, 10 m, 15 m, and 20 m based on aerial photographs, DEM Nasional (DEMNAS) images, and Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) images. Under similar parameters, larger pixel sizes revealed fewer and longer lineaments than smaller pixel sizes. The type of image (i.e., satellite images or aerial photographs) used for lineament extraction did not affect the results. Based on lineament density maps, the lineaments from images with smaller pixels had a wider distribution area than those with larger pixels. Surface geothermal manifestations, such as hot springs, showed good correlation with lineaments found in images with smaller pixel sizes (≤ 5m), which were found in moderate to high lineament density zones. Based on the lineaments extracted from SRTM images, each geothermal field in southern Bandung (Patuha, WWGF, Darajat, Kamojang) had a local geological structure that greatly correlated with the lineament extraction results. All of the lineaments in the geothermal fields were primarily oriented in the NE–SW direction (i.e., N65°E for Patuha, N51°E for WWGF, N57°E for Darajat, and N24°E for Kamojang). Subsurface fracture zone modeling was conducted at WWGF to estimate the permeability zones based on the fracture density from production well data using the Ordinary Kriging (geostatistical) method. On January 23rd 2016 there was a landslide in the Lahat-Lubuk Linggau railway, right at the mouth of the railway tunnel in Lahat Regency. About 5 meters thick of soil covered the railway, causing the railway to be stopped for several days. Since the tunnel was built in 1928 until landslides occur in 2016 which means it has been 88 years. The landslide can be caused by several factors, these factors are slope geometry, physical and mechanical characteristics of rocks or soil, geological structure, hydrology and hydrogeology, and external forces such as ground vibration due to railway traffic and earthquake. The results of research on the main causes of landslides in the mouth of the railway tunnel include relatively steep morphological influences, degradation of rock strength due to weathering, dip rock structure in the direction of slope, and ground vibration due to earthquakes. Based on field observations, the slope next to the case study area of the landslide is also unstable. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the slope stability in the area that has the potential to landslide, using a pseudo-static slope stability analysis on the consideration of the effect of ground vibration due to earthquakes is quite significant to slope stability. The results of the pseudo-static slope stability analysis is showing out that the factor of safety is around 1.22-1.16 with a seismic coefficient of 0.10-0.125 g. To anticipate future landslide we suggest to be conducted studies on slope stabilization methods including building retaining walls, drainage channels and shotcrete walls.

Light intensity design as a fishing tool on liftnet, with pulse width modulation system based on microcontroller

Fishing can be done in various ways, including by utilizing lights as fishing tools. The lights used for fishing tools are varied, ranging from torch lights, pressure paraffin lamp, fluorescent lamps (TL, PL, SL, CFL), mercury, and various types of led. However, light transition between one colors to another often scares the fish, driving them out of catchable area shocked by the color change. One solution to address this problem is by smoothly switching the color of the lamp using Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) system on the microcontroller. The color used are the lamp with basic colors of red, green and blue. With power capacity of 50Watt/12Volt, this lamp is classified as High Power Led (HPL) lamp. The light can be free- adjusted, where each lamp can be turned on by its own light or can also be turned on in combination. It can slowly be switch on from an off position to maximum and also can be dimmed from maximum to off. Thus the intensity of the light can be controlled. The HPL and control sections were created separately. Tools and materials used are consist of push-button, microcontroller, optocoupler, mosfet and Red, Green and Blue HPL, Radio-meter (ILT5000 Research Radiometer), Voltmeter, and Amperemeter. The method used was experimental in both laboratory and field. The result of research is in the form of RGB HPL lamp which can be adjusted through control system, such as adjusment for each lamp, or light combination with smooth color transition. Thus, when this technology is applied as fishing tool in liftnet fishing, the targeted fish would still remain on catchable area.

Globalization had increased global economic activity, including production, trade and distribution activities in developing countries, especially in Asia. The increasing of trade traffic and cargo transportation in archipelago country like Indonesia, requires the utilization of sea lanes. This study was aimed to present the suitability of ship design to be passengers transportation in Berau Regency, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. The proposed design should be in accordance with the conditions of Berau which has 6 districts crossed by the river which still lack of transportation facilities. This research proposed an optimal ship design that can be used as a reference for renewable ships in Berau waters. This study produced a watershed design analysis concept as part of the reference and boundary dimensions of the ship. The obtained main size of the ship using linear regression method was total length of 12.5 meters, 3 meters wide, 1.5 meters high, and 0.6 meters full of water. Resistance analysis using the Savitsky method showed the engine capacity of 2x150 pk with a service speed of 25 knots. Maximum speed of 30 knots with a distance of 57.32 mill can be reached with 2 hours service speed and 1 hour 40 minutes at a maximum speed of 30 knots with the resistance value 12.8 kN. The total estimated budget for the production of this ship was Rp 1.773.656.800. This design may be adopted as an integrated reference for the procurement of transportation facilities for passenger ships, especially in the Berau river.
