Stability Improvement by Reducing Voltage Fluctuation using SVC in Penetration Wind Power System

Currently, wind energy is a renewable energy that is growing because some of its advantages are connected to the grid system. This study is focus on presenting a probabilistic theory to design power system stability (PSS) and excitation of the FACTS system controller generator via Static Var Compensator (SVC) connected to wind turbines in Sidrap, region of South Sulawesi system. The purpose of the test system is on oscillation, profile voltage and influence stability of wind turbine penetration. An oscillating system requires system performance compensation from the side of the machine via PSS and transmission via SCV to increase the depth of the electro mechanical mode. So, the simulation results on 44 buses in the South Sulawesi system show the stability of the system and rapid voltage improvement and can reduce the oscillation that occurs. This system is tested using a time domain-based PSAT software simulation on the system.

Temperature and Salinity Gradients Analysis for a Solar Pond Prototype

In this study, a solar pond prototype is used to analyze the temperature and salinity gradients of alternative energy source processes. The study used two types of solar pond to investigate the temperature and salinity of gradients from each solar pond. The first solar pond utilizes sunlight as a heat source that emitted directly on the solar pond and the second solar pond utilizes the spotlights as a direct heat source emitted on the solar pond. The first solar pond is made of a cylindrical plastic tank of 1.05 m tall, 0.8 m in diameter placed outdoors in direct sunlight and the second solar pond model is made of a trapezium plastic tank with a height of 0.9m, the upper diameter 0.54m and a bottom diameter of 0.49m placed indoors with floodlights. The gradient temperature salinity and temperature measurement in the fest solar pond are smaller than temperature in the second solar pond however, the T3 temperature in the outdoor solar pond is larger than the indoor solar pond. The observation results show that the first solar pond generates the mean value of temperature and salinity of successive gradients 32 (°C); 30 % and the second solar pond has the average value of temperature and salinity of successive gradients 31 (°C); 28 %.

The rapid development of information and communication technology will deliver the public to the changing era, including in the business industry. The global community is currently in a transition towards digital society which is characterized by intensive use of science, technology and humanities, integrated infrastructure that demands human resources to be able to creative and innovative in order to face the demands in the digital business era. The existence of these changes affect global trends in logistics business practices in the industry, including by the movement towards free markets and regional cooperation to expand markets. Market expectations also change as global competition in products and services pushes for higher standards, lower costs and increasingly diverse choices of customers in the market. Research is needed with a comprehensive qualitative approach, mechanism, and exploration of needs to be anticipated by university to become a center of excellence and contribute to the real world by producing human resources that have strong character and integrity accompanied by the ability to innovate and utilize their digital knowledge to be able to work and win competitions in the global business industry, both as practitioners and academics, one of them is by opening a logistics engineering study program by focusing on e-logistics that suits market needs.

Wet oxidation pretreatment effect for enhancing bioethanol production from cassava peels, water hyacinth, and green algae (Ulva)

Biomass pretreatment is the most important yet challenging process in biofuel production, with the aim of making part of the biomass more accessible for further treatment. There are four fundamental types of pretreatment techniques employed for bioethanol production: physical, chemical, physicochemical, and biological. Wet oxidation (WO) in fact is known to be one of the most effective pretreatments to liberate more cellulose from lignocellulosic material by heating, in purpose of reducing acid usage in the bioethanol process. The effect of two different conditions of WO pretreatment on fractionation cassava peels, Ulva algae, and water hyacinth was investigated. WO resulted in an increase of carbohydrate content of lignocellulosic residues as a result of the solubilization of cellulose and hemicellulose. The highest carbohydrate content of 1.5g/L was obtained in the pretreatment at 125°C, 45 min, 1.5 bar pH3 for water hyacinth. The pretreatment efficiency was 95%. Changing the pretreatment operating conditions to 130°C, 75 min, 1.8 bar and pH1 allowed to yield high carbohydrate from cassava peel and Ulva algae in respective proportion of 2.38g/L and 1.83 g/L. The WO efficiency was respectively 63% and 95% for cassava peels and Ulva algae. Ethanol yields in respective proportion of 0.26 g/l; 0.31 g/l and 0.2 g/l from Ulva algae, cassava peel and water hyacinth showed the optimum condition of *** enzymatic convertibility of glucose to ethanol.

Effect of contact surface temperature on wear of nickel-chromium layer

In sliding contact of two components, the contact temperature will be generated due to the friction force and this may weaken the material and cause the material to be less resistance to fail by wear. However, the generated temperature may develop oxide layers at the surface and thus may protect the material to fail by wear. In this work, the contact surface of the material of the medium carbon steel was coated with Nickel-Chromium in the process of flame powder spray coating. To determine the effect of the elevated temperature at the contact surface on the wear of the Nickel-Chromium layers, the wear test with the various temperatures of the surface was performed using the ball-on-plat wear test machine. The surface temperature was arranged in the range of 30, 50, 100, 150, 200, 250 and 300°C. The results show that the wear rate decrease from about 0.0347x10−3 to 0.0083x10−3 gr/m with increasing the surface temperature from 30°C to 50°C and increasing the surface temperature up to 300°C, the wear rate slightly fluctuated between 0.0023x10−3 and 0.0053x10−3 gr/m. This wear rate behavior occurred because of the oxide layers presented at the surface due to the elevated temperature.

Kedungwaru Village is a village in Karangsambung Subdistrict located at 109 ° 37'30 "- 109 ° 45'00" BT and 7 ° 30'00 '- 7 ° 37'30' 'LS. In the long dry season that occurs in the first half of 2018, residents in several areas of Kedungwaru Village complain of drought. Aquifers are a layer of water that can be used as a water source. The study was conducted using a single channel geoelectric instrument with the Vertical Electrical Sounding method with the aim to determine the distribution of aquifers based on the depth and thickness of the aquifer. The depth and thickness of aquifer data are then interpolated using IDW (Inverse Distance Weighted) method to produce depth maps and isopach maps. The results showed that there were two types of aquifers in Kedungwaru Village, namely unconfined aquifers and confined aquifers. The unconfined aquifer located at a depth of 1-3 m from the surface with a thickness varying up to 22 m, while the confined aquifer is at a depth of 13-30 m from the surface with thicknesses varying up to 20 m.

Numerical Simulation of Spear Motion as Game Items

Game development in 3D is mostly done by characters, items and the environment. Game items such as character weapons modeled in 3D will be the attraction of a game. In this paper, spear motion as a game items is modeled in 3D. Nonlinear Equations Six Degrees of Freedom (6 DOF) are used for mathematical models of spear motion. The parameters studied in the motion model are: geometry, mass and aerodynamics. Spear aerodynamic parameters were analyzed using the Datcom method. Numerical simulation of mathematical models of spear motion with variations in the initial velocity of the throw and the direction of the throw. From the results of numerical simulation, the maximum range R = 131.7 m at the initial velocity V0 = 40 m/s, the direction of throw (angle θ0 = 35 deg, angle 0 = 10 deg, ψ0 = 0 deg). And the maximum height Hmax = 12.18 m is achieved at the initial velocity V0 = 20 m/s, direction of throw (angle θ0 = 35 deg, angle 0 = 40 deg, angle ψ0 = 0 deg).

Molecular lines are powerful diagnostics of the physical and chemical properties of the interstellar medium (ISM). These ISM properties, which affect future star formation, are expected to differ in starburst galaxies from those of more quiescent galaxies. We investigate the ISM properties in the central molecular zone of the nearby starburst galaxy NGC 253 using the ultra-wide millimeter spectral scan survey from the ALMA Large program ALCHEMI. We present an atlas of velocity-integrated images at a 1′′. 6 resolution of 148 unblended transitions from 44 species, including the first extragalactic detection of HCNH+ and the first interferometric images of C3H+, NO, HCS+. We conduct a principal component analysis (PCA) on these images to extract correlated chemical species and to identify key groups of diagnostic transitions. To the best of our knowledge, our dataset is currently the largest astronomical set of molecular lines to which PCA has been applied. The PCA can categorize transitions coming from different physical components in NGC 253 such as i) young starburst tracers characterized by high-excitation transitions of HC3N and complex organic molecules (COMs) versus tracers of on-going star formation (radio recombination lines) and high-excitation transitions of CCH and CN tracing PDRs, ii) tracers of cloud-collision-induced shocks (low-excitation transitions of CH3OH, HNCO, HOCO+, and OCS) versus shocks from star-formation-induced outflows (high-excitation transitions of SiO), as well as iii) outflows showing emission from HOC+, CCH, H3O+, CO isotopologues, HCN, HCO+, CS, and CN. This study aims to develop a product such as "Digital storytelling of Physics (DiS-Phy)" that can be used as a physics' educational media for distance learning (PJJ) on magnetic field material. DiS-Phy developed as a digital storytelling media which is able to combine several learning media such as writing, pictures and learning videos in one medium. The developed DiS-Phy also equipped with scientific literacy questions. DiS-Phy can be accessed on all types of distance learning devices such as smartphones, laptops and tablets that are connected to the internet. DiS-Phy including the type of research and development (Research & Development) which refers to the ASSURE model. The result of validation test shows the percentages of 91,07%, according to subject-matter expert, 93,16%, according to media expert and 87,50% according to learning expert. DiS-Phy also tested by 4 physics teachers at senior high school in Jakarta that achieved 92,57% points that make this product has been qualified as a worthy physics' distance learning device. Also of 35 as respondents in this study shows the percentages of 87,48% points that make this product worthy to use as an educational media. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the DiS-Phy has been qualified as a worthy physics' distance learning device for teachers and students.

This research is a preliminary study on the use of sago midrib as an acoustic material. This study aims to determine the sago as acoustic material by measuring the absorption coefficient using (impedance tube method) of 100 Hz-1.6 KHz frequencies. The results of measurement were analyzed and compared with common acoustic material available on market as reference. From the measurement of the sago midrib composite, absorption coefficient has fluctuated from low to high frequencies as the absorption coefficient of reference material is found to be more stable.
