Slip rate is used to estimate earthquake recurrence relationship which is the most influence for hazard level. We examine slip rate contribution of Peak Ground Acceleration (PGA), in probabilistic seismic hazard maps (10% probability of exceedance in 50 years or 500 years return period). Hazard curve of PGA have been investigated for Sukabumi using a PSHA (Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Analysis). We observe that the most influence in the hazard estimate is crustal fault. Monte Carlo approach has been developed to assess the sensitivity. Then, Monte Carlo simulations properties have been assessed. Uncertainty and coefficient of variation from slip rate for Cimandiri Fault area has been calculated. We observe that seismic hazard estimates is sensitive to fault slip rate with seismic hazard uncertainty result about 0.25 g. For specific site, we found seismic hazard estimate for Sukabumi is between 0.4904 – 0.8465 g with uncertainty between 0.0847 – 0.2389 g and COV between 17.7% – 29.8%.

DOMERAPI project has been conducted to comprehensively study the internal structure of Merapi volcano, especially about deep structural features beneath the volcano. DOMERAPI earthquake monitoring network consists of 46 broad-band seismometers installed around the Merapi volcano. Earthquake hypocenter determination is a very important step for further studies, such as hypocenter relocation and seismic tomographic imaging. Ray paths from earthquake events occurring outside the Merapi region can be utilized to delineate the deep magma structure. Earthquakes occurring outside the DOMERAPI seismic network will produce an azimuthal gap greater than 1800. Owing to this situation the stations from BMKG seismic network can be used jointly to minimize the azimuthal gap. We identified earthquake events manually and carefully, and then picked arrival times of P and S waves. The data from the DOMERAPI seismic network were combined with the BMKG data catalogue to determine earthquake events outside the Merapi region. For future work, we will also use the BPPTKG (Center for Research and Development of Geological Disaster Technology) data catalogue in order to study shallow structures beneath the Merapi volcano. The application of all data catalogues will provide good information as input for further advanced studies and volcano hazards mitigation.

MuaraWahau coal belongs to Wahau Formation which was deposited during Early Miocene in terrestrial environments. Organic geochemistry study has been performed to characterize the biomarker composition of the coal. Saturated hydrocarbon fraction comprises n-alkanes with carbon numbers from 14 to 40. Bimodal distribution peaking at n-C16 and n-C31 are detected. Additionally, unusual peak is also remarkable at n-C38. The long chain n- alkanes peaking at n-C31 might be derived from higher plants. The origin of short chain n-alkanes (n-C14 to n-C21) are less specific, probably originate from higher plants and/or algae. Other related identified biomarkers which confirm the significant contribution of higher plants are olean-13(18)-ene, olean-18-ene and urs-12-ene. The presence of longer-chain n-alkanes especially unusual high amount of n-C38 is interesting to be noted as this compound has been reported only from some Kalimantan coals. Considering the abundance of higher plants biomarkers in MuaraWahau coal, it is hypothesized that the C38 n-alkane was likely derived also from higher plants.

Cibaliung Underground Gold Mine applies cut and fill mining method to optimize ore production and maintain underground stability. Existing 5 m × 5 m height and width of stope geometry has a potential new design to increase production of gold due to variety of thick ore, however serious shotcrete failures often occur in hanging wall decline. This paper aims to find out the relationship between stope design and stability of hanging wall decline. The analysis conducted in this study is based on underground characteristics and geological condition of Cibaliung area. The impact of stope design on decline stability was analyzed by using numerical methods. The impact factors such as different rock mass, size of stope, and distance between stope and hanging wall decline were used in the analysis of underground stability especially stability on hanging wall decline.

We have relocated hypocenters of earthquakes occurring in the Molucca collision zone and surrounding region taken from the BMKG catalog using teleseismic double-difference relocation algorithm (teletomoDD). We used P-wave arrival times of local, regional, and teleseismic events recorded at 304 recording stations. Over 7,000 earthquakes were recorded by the BMKG seismographicnetworkin the study region from April, 2009 toJune, 2014. We used a 3D regional-global nested velocity modelresulting fromprevious global tomographystudy. In this study, the3D seismic velocity model was appliedto theIndonesian region, whilethe1D seismicvelocity model (ak135)wasused for regions outside of Indonesia. Our relocation results show a better improvement in travel-time RMS residuals comparedto those of the BMKG *** show that relocation shifts were dominated intheeast-west direction, whichmaybeinfluenced by theexistingvelocity anomaly related to the reversed V-shaped slabbeneaththestudy region. Our eventrelocation results refine the geometry of slabs beneath the Halmahera and Sangihe arcs.

A stable light intensity level of a classroom can actually be obtained by integrating automatic lamp brightness controller with automatic blind system. A brightness controller of the lamp, especially incandescent type can be developed by adopting the principle of phase firing angle. It should be implemented in such a way so that the firing angle is set precisely to keep the classroom's light intensity stays in a steady level. Next, the opening and closing process of the blind can also be done using stepper motor which will be controlled automatically by a microcontroller through a hardware driver. This is intended to take the advantage of light contribution from the outside instead of directly switching on or brightening the lamp.

A new idea to improve the performance of neural networks in modelling is presented in this paper. As the networks obtain their knowledge through learning process, it can be influenced through stronger optimization or more suited cost function to be minimized. In this paper, the implementation of linear-quadratic cost function is proposed. This cost function comprises of quadratic and linear function. By applying the linear function to errors greater than a certain threshold, the network becomes more rigid and less sensitive to measurement outliers and disturbances in the form of impulses or spikes. Simulative experiment using a strongly non-linear dynamic system was conducted and the proposed cost function is proved to be effective and enables the network to cope with measurement data with disturbance impulses.
