Mangrove leaf extract substitution formulation in making hand soap to improve environmental health of coastal communities, Muara Gembong district

Hand soap is essential during the COVID-19 pandemic for cleaning hands that are frequently used for activities such as touching the face, eyes, and nose. Hand soap contains mangrove leaf extract (Rhizophora mucronata L.), which contains a substance that weakens bacteria. This study aimed to determine the quality of hand soap production by performing organoleptic tests, pH tests, viscosity tests, and foam height measurements. The data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA with a significance level of 5%. In an experimental research method, four formulas were used. The results were tested by 15 Muara Gembong residents using an organoleptic test. It demonstrates that there are differences in the effect of different percentages of mangrove leaf extract (Rhizophora mucronata L.) on the quality of hand soap, namely organoleptic tests (texture, smell, color, and aroma) with a p-significance < 0.05 (0.008 < 0.05). SNI standards are met by the quality of hand soap as measured by pH (8.27), thickness (2216.25 cPs), and foam height (78.71 mm). Hand soap containing 0.02% mangrove leaf extract (Rhizophora mucronata L.) has a better organoleptic quality, according to Muara Gembong respondents, with an average score of 4.26.

Model of river environmental management based on sustainable community social capital

Along the river, many people live. As a result, many people dispose of their household or industrial waste in bodies of water. On the other hand, community groups are concerned about the river's environment. The study will take place along the Ciliwung River. Social capital data includes togetherness, mutual trust, sharing, cooperation, resource mobilization, and the principle of reciprocity. A survey of 30 people who live along the Ciliwung River. The collected data were processed descriptively, and a dynamic system created a model. According to the findings, the community's social capital of the participatory response is high, at 64.17%. 36% is the average level of reciprocity. The percentage of trust is 37%. Aspects of norms (a set of customary or local rules that apply): 58.5% is a high percentage. Aspects of values are 64% high. The statistical testing results in Fcount > Ftable (39.983 > 3,372) show that the percentage composition in each aspect of social capital differs significantly. When the system dynamics model is built with community social capital (citizens, NGOs, and entrepreneurs) and the role of the government, the quality of the river environment can be achieved in 18 years.

A future networking design called "software-defined networking"combines network programmability with centralized administration (SDN). Network administration is currently handled by SDN, which, at the regulator, which acts as the cable network processor and divides the data plane into a control plane and a data aircraft. Recent breakthroughs in artificial intelligence (Al) have shown a stronger inclination for the science community to benefit from their ability to give learning capabilities and enhance Indicator. The author of this research provides a comprehensive analysis of initiatives underway to incorporate Al with SDN. The study concluded that the three primary Al thread where scientific research was centered were computer science, conceptual, and fuzzy reasoning systems. The authors of this paper explore the several fields in which these approaches may be used, their potential future applications, and the innovations made possible by the integration of AI-based methods into the SDN paradigm. By choosing the right SDN controller, any large organization may lower network complexity, implementation expenses, and maintenance costs. The focus of this article is software defined networking's benefits and downsides (SDN). Following is a basic explanation of artificial intelligence and a list of some of its most significant applications in SDN. © 2023 IEEE.

Feasible tar cleaning method of producer gas from palm kernel shell and mahogany fruit shell gasification

Palm kernel shells and mahogany fruit shells are technically possible to be converted into producer gas by means of air gasification process for several purposes, such as fuel gas, liquid fuels, or chemicals processes after specific treatments. Tar as the most significant impurity in the producer gas should be minimized to prevent blockage or chocking in the downstream flow of the system and to produce high purity gas. This research examines producer gas cleaning system which consists of scrubber, elutriator pipe, and shell-and-tube heat exchanger to produce low tar content producer gas in a fixed-bed gasifier using both feedstocks. This system is coupled with a fixed-bed gasifier using air as gasifying agent at feedstock capacity of 25 kg/h. It is found that gasification of palm kernel shell produced more tar at 92.67 ppm compared with mahogany fruit shell at 26.87 ppm. Furthermore, this system demonstrated high performance in reducing tar content in producer gas up to value of 8.67 ppm and 10.00 ppm for palm kernel shell and mahogany fruit shell gasification respectively. © 2022

The Ertankian Geothermal Prospect is located in the southern area of Bogor District, West Java, Indonesia. From 1982 through the end of 1983, Unocal Geothermal of Indonesia, Ltd. (UGI) conducted extensive geological, geochemical, and geophysical surveys that outlined Ertankian as a potential geothermal field on the flanks of the Salak Volcano. This volcano forms the north-eastern part of the Salak-Perbakti-Gagak Volcanic Massif, which consists of Upper Pleistocene to Recent stratovolcanoes, parasitic vents, and phreatomagmatic craters. The exploration survey included, magnetotelluric and gravity surveys, water geochemistry, thermal manifestation gas, ion, and isotope analyses, and geological, photo-geological interpretation, and photogrammetry interpretation. Kawah Ertankian is a vigorous fumarole area with numerous superheated and boiling steam vents, boiling acid sulfate hot springs, and large areas of acid-altered ground. Elemental sulfur is common around many of the vents. Steam from the Ertankian Fumaroles contains 7 mol% H2S and the maximum reservoir temperature obtained from the NAH-CO2 gas geothermometer was 525°F. The Ertankian Hot Springs have acid sulfate character and yield little information about the underlying hydrothermal system. Bicarbonate chloride warm springs occur on the northern flanks of the Salak Volcano at northwest and northeast locations and interpreted as the outflow product of Ertankian Geothermal System. Extensive areas of low resistivity are distributed across most of the Ertankian Geothermal Prospects. Low resistivity zones are observed around the Kawah Ertankian thermal manifestation complex and broaden to the far northwestern warm spring and Gunung Perbakti in the southwest. The shallowest base of the conductor is observed in the area near Kawah Ertankian and probably extends towards the northwest in the Alpha-19 well area. Methylcellulose-AgNPs-oat hydrogel as a wound dressing for burn wound

Based on the RISKESDAS in 2018 the prevalence of burns reached 1,3% of the total population of Indonesia and basen on WHO there were 195,000 cases of deaths due to burns every year. One clinical treatment for burns is to use hydrogels as wound dressing. Hydrogel wound dressing functions to absorb wound exudates, by keeping the wound moist. This study was conducted to determine the effect of adding oat extrac to the hydrogel methylcellulose-AgNPs. Hydrogel methylcellulose-AgNPs are mixed with oat extract, with an oat extract concentration of 0 wt%, 0.5 wt%, 1 wt%, 1.5 wt%, and 2 wt%. The characterization carried out included XRD crystallinity test and SEM morphology test for the characterization of AgNPs, and it was found that 10.2% of AgNPs were formed and evenly distributed AgNPs. In addition, characterization of hydrogel wound dressing was carried out which included antibacterial test, cytotoxicity test, swelling test, and antioxidant test. From the results of the analysis it was found that the best variable methylcellulose-AgNPs-oat hydrogel was a sample with an oat concentration of 2 wt%, which had a clear zone diameter of 10.35 mm and was sensitive to bacteria, had a% viability of 2.206%, a swelling value of 71, 7%, and has an antioxidant value of 95%. It shows that the addition of oats can increase the cell viability because oats are antioxidants, so they can counteract the free radicals produced by AgNPs, but the addition of oats increases sensitivity to bacteria because oats also function as antibacterial. Samples with oats of 2 wt% have the best characterization even though they have not met the standard wound dressing.

Utilization of nanoparticles in oil and gas sector has gained a significant interest. Silica nanoparticles is often considered as a promising chemical to improve the Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) process. The objective of this work was to provide a mini review to address the effect of silica nanoparticles addition in a chemical EOR. In this work, we have reviewed the influence of nanoparticles to reduce Interfacial Surface tension (IFT), to alter wettability, to reduce oil viscosity, to improve fluid rheology, and to alter structural disjoining pressure. We expect that this review may provide a useful guidelines for the development of silica nanoparticles in Indonesia.

Budget constraints are a common problem in Indonesian cities to provide attractive and attractive public open space. There is a need for cooperation between all parties, not only the government but also the private sector and society. These conditions encourage the Semarang City government to increase stakeholder collaboration in the provision of public green open space, one of which is in the development of Taman Indonesia Kaya. The purpose of this study is to examine the model of the collaboration process, the involvement and role of each stakeholder and the sustainability of collaboration. This study uses descriptive qualitative methods, data collection using observations and interviews on each stakeholder element, namely government, private and public. The results show that the collaboration process model starts from face to face dialogue, trust building, commitment to the process, shared understanding between stakeholders until the realization of attractive and attractive public green open space development. However, the sustainability of collaboration is a big challenge going forward. The structure of cooperation is not yet supported by clear institutional design, so that government courage and innovation are needed to determine the form of structural governance in collaborative management of public green open space. Collaboration should be carried out over the long term and use a networked administrative organization model so that the network that is built is in an administrative entity. The model is expected to create efficiency management and support the sustainability of collaboration. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Biocompatibility evaluation of electrospun Poly-L lactic Acid-chitosan immobilized with heparin as scaffold for vascular tissue repair

Stroke is the second leading cause of death worldwide, disability, high morbidity, and mortality. One of the leading causes of infarct stroke is carotid stenosis. The postoperative narrowing of the carotid artery diameter is a common complication after primary arterial closure in carotid endarterectomy surgery. A biomaterial design that combines synthetic and natural polymers is a promising strategy for patching arterial closure. In this paper, the electrospinning process was employed and Poly-L Lactic Acid (PLLA) was used as a base material. Chitosan and heparin were added to increase the biocompatibility of the biomaterial. The electrospun PLLA-chitosan immobilized with heparin (C sample) had better characteristics than the pure electrospun PLLA. The fiber diameter decreased to a micrometer scale and the pore size fell and became narrower, resulting in a smoother surface. Fiber diameter results for each sample were 1312.66 nm, 486.29 nm and 387.87 nm. Thereby potentially reducing the activation of blood coagulation and inflammation. The ultimate tensile strength test result for each sample were 2.28 MPa, 3.61 MPa and 3.25 MPa, for elongation results were 12.05%, 17.39%, and 18.14%, aligned with those of the human carotid artery and indicating potential use in patch angioplasty applications. This scaffold nanofiber was declared non-haemolytic for the C sample was 1.13% and non-cytotoxic. Percent viability for each sample was 89.35%, 83.81% and 78.92%. The in vivo host tissue response was shown to decrease pro-inflammatory cytokine expressions. This research shows that the proposed PLLA-chitosan-heparin biomaterial has strong physical properties and can modify the inflammatory response. However, it requires additional biofunctional alterations to optimize its tissue engineering capabilities. © 2023 Vietnam National University, Hanoi

Carbonaceous and nitrogenous disinfection by-products potential formation and removal technologies from the water treatment process: A review

Not only at the water treatment process, disinfection is required for the inactivation of pathogen microorganisms in wastewater treatment before it is released to the waterbodies or for recycling purposes. During the disinfection process by chlorination, it found the formation of harmful disinfection by-products (DBPs). DBPs formed because of the reaction of inorganic and organic matter as precursors with chlorine/chloramine. The aim of this research is to analyze the potential formation of Carbonaceous Disinfection By-products (C-DBPs) as the most DBPs in the water and Nitrogenous Disinfection By-products (N-DBPs) as the most DBPs of the wastewater. Most DBPs have precursors from natural organic matter (NOM) and the effluent of sewage treatment contributes to increasing the DBPs precursor. The review method start with identifying DBPs precursor, potential formation of DBPs, factor affecting the formation DBPs, and finding the advanced technologies that are appropriate to remove DBPs and their precursors. It found that trihalomethanes (THMs) is the most widely found in water treatment such as chloroform, bromodichloromethane, and bromoform. N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) is one of N-DBPs that most presence in polluted water and also haloacetonitriles (HANs), haloacetamides (HAcAms), Nitrosoamine (NAs), cyanogen halides (CNX), halonitromethanes (HNMs), N-nitrosomethylethylamine (NMEA). The result shows that disinfection plays a role of formation DBPs in water and wastewater treatment. DBPs have potential health risks for the human body because they are genotoxic and carcinogenic. Physicochemical treatment can remove the precursor of DBPs and advanced treatment enhances the removal of DBPs.
