Titanium dioxide is used in many commercial and industrial areas such as paint, paper, cosmetics, textiles, and surface coating. The reasons for its use in such a wide area are its anti-corrosion and high stability. Although TiO2 is considered to be a low toxicity material, research has been further expanded following the recognition of the possible carcinogenic effects of TiO2 in humans by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). The aim of this study is to compare the toxicity of TiO2 used in many fields in different phases. In the study anatase TiO2 synthesized by hydrothermal method and dual phase TiO2 (anatase and rutile phase) structures obtained by thermal conditioning were used and compared with commercially available TiO2. ZnO which has similar uses like TiO2 was also used and compared with 1% doped TiO2 in different phases in terms of toxicity. Zebrafish (Danio rerio, D. rerio), a freshwater fish, which is widely used in toxicity assessments was preferred in this study due to its small size, fast reproduction rate, low cost, physiological and molecular similarity with humans, and genetic predisposition. Experimental investigations showed that the highest death occurred in the low concentrations of (10 ppm) ZnO doped rutile phase. 39% of the embryos died in the ZnO nanoparticle solutions prepared at low concentrations. The highest mortality at medium (100 ppm) and high (1000 ppm) concentrations were observed in the ZnO-doped rutile phase after 96 hours. Similarly, the highest malformation was detected in the ZnO-doped rutile phase during the same period. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The problem of slum settlements is something that happens a lot in big cities around the world, slums are certainly one of the causes of an unhealthy environment, especially what happens in most parts of Indonesia. One of them is in Tabaniao Village, Tanah Laut Regency, South Kalimantan Province. According to the Decree of the Regent of Tanah Laut No. 188.45/***/2020 concerning the Determination of Slum Areas in Tanah Laut Regency, it is stated that Tabanio Village is included in the determination of slum areas. There are three methods carried out in this study, namely using descriptive data analysis methods to determine the characteristics of slum settlements, the second using the scoring analysis method to determine the level of slums and the third method uses descriptive analysis with land capability analysis to formulate land management analysis, where from the analysis characteristics and level of slums can formulate suitable land management for use in the research area. Based on the results of the analysis carried out there are 4 RTs that have the characteristics of building quality slums, environmental drainage slums, clean water service slums, waste management slums and fire protection slums, while in the study area the slum level is divided into two, namely moderate slum level and mild slum level, where RT 04 is included in the moderate slum level and for RT 07, RT 08, RT 09, and RT 10 it is included in the mild slum level, for land management used in the research area, namely land readjustment for RT 04, relocation is also implemented in RT 04 because there are 7 housing units that are located along the river and do not have clarity over the rights to the land they occupy, while for RT 07 and RT 08 they also use land readjustments for land management guidelines, for the concept of handling slums, namely building rehabilitation, adding new SPAM units, new PSP development and the construction of simple fire protection while for RT 09 and RT 10 the land m

The needs of having strong and light material for many construction is increasing. Aluminum is one of materials that fulfill this requirement with other advantages such as corrosion resistant and easily formed. Generally, hardness of aluminum and its alloys is lower than ferrous metal such as iron and steel. Aluminum hardness improvement can be conducted by heat treatment namely artificial aging. Artificial aging in aluminum alloy type 2024 T3 in this study was conducted in 2 phases that is solution treatment in 500 °C for 1 hour and continued with artificial aging process in 180 °C by holding time 2, 4 and 6 hours. From the conducted research, it was found that there was hardness improvement on aluminum type 2024 T3 in line with the increasing of aging time. The gained microstructure was getting smooth which means the precipitation hardening process was getting perfect. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

South Sumatra is one of the provinces whose development is very rapid in Indonesia. With the increasing development of centers of economic activity, politics, socio-culture and education make it an attraction for residents outside the city to travel to Palembang City. However, the condition of the eksisting highway which has become the driver's mainstay for travelling are not free of congestion. This causes travel time and Vehicle operational costs increase for every vehicle that passes the road. To overcome this problem, the government brought investors to build a toll road. The results of preliminary research show that people are still confused about the benefits through toll roads which are built besides travel time faster because they have to spend money to pay tolls. The main objective of this study was to determine the vehicle operating costs (VOC) using both roads with the Pacific Consultant International Method (PCI) and Industrial and Affiliate Research, Bandung Institute of Technology (LAPI ITB). Variable of the equation to determine the cost components is travel speed determined the Floating Car Method. The results show that the operational costs of vehicles (VOC) through toll roads are smaller when compared with existing roads. VOC of passenger cars that pass through the existing road in the morning Rp. 3395.45, trucks 2 axles loaded Rp. 5570.55 and trucks 2 axles with no payload of Rp. 3815.00, while if through toll road, passenger cars Rp. 2618.82 and trucks 2 axles Rp. 2918.71. In addition, information is obtained, more than 90% of drivers only consider fuel costs, they do not consider the cost of other variable variables in choosing a route. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The aim of Nickel-Tungsten coatings on the material of carbon steel is to improve the wear resistance of the material. However, with the elevated contact temperature due to friction force in the surface area of sliding may alter the wear resistance of Nickel-Tungsten layers. If the elevated temperature is quite high to reduce the hardness performance of Nickel-Tungsten layers, the layers may be degraded more quickly. In this work, Nickel-Tungsten was deposited on the surface of medium carbon steel in the process of flame powder spray coating with layer thickness of about 0.2 mm. The wear test was conducted using linear reciprocating ball-on-plat with varying surface temperature of about 30°C up to about 250°C. The wear rate and wear mechanism of Nickel-Tungsten layer is investigated. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Mandai, a traditional fermented delicacy, is produced from the inner peel of the cempedak fruit (Artocarpus champeden). This unique food is a culinary heritage of the Banjar ethnic group residing in Kalimantan, and is part of Indonesia’s rich collection of traditional fermented foods. This study aimed to analyze mandai by examining its fermentation processes and chemical and nutritional composition. It also discusses the potential and prospects of mandai development in the future. Through a narrative literature review, this study synthesized insights into mandai, emphasizing its significance as a functional food with rich antioxidant and probiotic properties. This review also shows that processing mandai through starter-induced fermentation can improve its quality and standards. This study serves as an important foundation for future mandai research by emphasizing the functional benefits and processing methods of mandai. © The Author(s) 2025.

We suggest a simple, practical device with a wireless sensor network system that can be used to record and display data from a spring oscillation system in real-time on a website. The HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor was utilized to detect changes in load position in the damped spring oscillation system, and the Node-MCU ESP266 was used to transmit data from sensor readings to the server over the internet network. The damping factor, damping coefficient, and spring damping frequency could be utilized to calculate the exponential function graph fitting outcome. © 2021 IOP Publishing Ltd.

Leading commodity development area is a developed area for one or a combination of superior commodities that comply with the land use characteristics that provide the highest farm household's income, communities, and the region. This research was aimed to determine and describe the factors which have a significant effect on the superiority of Tanjung Api-Api (TAA) area, measure and analyze of the superiority of TAA cultivation area for food crops,and formulate a grand strategy matrix for food crops development based on its regional. The descriptive methods, Policy Analysis Matrix (PAM), and Grand Strategy Analysis. The factors which affect the superiority of TAA cultivation area include ecological, socio-cultural, and economic factors. The result shows, rice and corn plants included in the SI category or suitable for cultivation in the TAA region with Soil Mapping Unit (SPT) value of 20.70%. Socio-cultural aspects that affect the development of food agriculture such as the labors, Village Unit Cooperative (KUD), and Farmers Group that support agricultural development. Rice and corn crops have 0.69 and 0.97 on the competitive advantage (PCR) value respectively, therefore the rice and corn plants are concluded to have a competitive advantage. The comparative advantages (DRCR) value shows 0.68 and 0.65 for rice and corn plants respectively, which have comparative advantages and have the potential to develop in TAA area. Food crops in the TAA area are in a good competitive position. The strategy that must be applied under these conditions is to support an aggressive growth policy (Growth-oriented strategy). © The Authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2020.

Access to healthcare facilities is crucial in the present day. Healthcare facilities must be proportional to the population in a given area. Therefore, it is important to increase the number of healthcare facilities in regions where there is an imbalance. Proper planning and a sustainability review are necessary when determining locations for healthcare facilities. Environmental changes can affect the suitability of a location in the future. Thus, planning that can predict future suitability conditions is required to ensure that the built locations have high sustainability. This study predicts the suitability of healthcare facility locations in 2030 in West Java using remote sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS). Both static and dynamic data processed at 30×30 meter intervals across West Java will be used. Geospatial and remote sensing data are utilized in the study. Dynamic parameter extrapolation uses data from 2000 to 2018. The random forest machine learning method is employed to obtain the suitability values for healthcare facility locations using existing health facility training data in West Java. The results show changes in the suitability classes of healthcare facilities in each region from 2018 to 2030, with some areas experiencing an increase or decrease in class. This research highlights consistently suitable locations, ensuring their sustainability as healthcare facility sites. © 2024

Samosir Island is one of tourism destination in Indonesia and there was an increasing of coffee shop number. This research tries to investigate how much financial profit received by coffee shop if it use biogas as a new energy source. This research had been conducted from April to June 2018. Research parameter were production costs, income, revenue, Benefit Cost Ratio, Revenue Cost Ratio, Return On Investment, Break Even Point, and identify opportunities, threats, strengths and weaknesses by SWOT analysis to identify whether the community of Samosir is willing to use biogas. The results of financial analysis namely production cost IDR 1,964,500;income of IDR.4,360,000;revenue of IDR. 2,303,000;B/C (%) was 79.7;R/C (%) was 151;ROI (year) of 1.6;BEP Price was IDR. 5,302;BEP Production of 361 glass. By SWOT Analysis it was known that development strategies are taken place include socialize biogas technology, benefits of biogas on energy, fertilizer and soil quality to the community, benefits of biogas in saving fuel purchases and providing biogas stock devices on biogas group. The result showed that biogas was worthy of being used as a new energy source on the coffee shop business on Samosir Island. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
