This paper addresses the single-item, dynamic lot-sizing problem for systems with remanufacturing and outsourcing. Therein, demand and return amounts are deterministic over a finite planning horizon. Demand may be satisfied by the manufacturing of new items, remanufactured items, or outsourcing, but it cannot be backlogged. The objective of this study is to determine the lot sizes for manufacturing, remanufacturing, and outsourcing that minimise the total cost, which consists of the holding costs for returns and manufactured/remanufactured products, setup costs, and outsourcing costs. The problems addressed in this paper are an extension of those addressed by Richter et al. (2000,and 2001), Teunter et al. (2006), and Aksen et al. (2003). In this paper, the separate setup costs scheme is considered, we propose a dynamic programming approach to derive the optimal solution in the case of large quantities of returned product. The complexity of this dynamic programming approach is O ( T 2 ), wherein T is the number of periods in the planning horizon.

In this work, scheduling problems with resource allocation and past-sequence-dependent (p-s-d) setup times are considered. Under these settings, the actual job processing times are dependent on the amount of resource allocated and the setup times are proportionate to the length of the already processed jobs. The objective function is a combination of the total completion time and the total resource consumption. In addition, the machine may need maintenance to improve its production efficiency, so the maintenance is also integrated. The optimal job sequence, the optimal amount of resource allocated to each job, and the optimal maintenance position are determined jointly. It is shown that the problem under study is polynomial time solvable.

In this paper, we examine the knowledge transfer process on community networks by analyzing the average knowledge level as a function of the agent's absorptive capacity. It is found that the average knowledge level decreases with the increment of inner-community links and the decreases of inter-community links when we keep the total links (including inner-community and inter-community links) constant. It is also shown that as for inner-community (inter-community) links unvaried, the increment of inter-community (inner-community) will promote average knowledge level.
