Information disentanglement for unsupervised domain adaptive Oracle Bone Inscriptions detection

The detection of Oracle Bone Inscriptions (OBIs) is the foundation of studying the OBIs via computer technology. Oracle bone inscription data includes rubbings, handwriting, and photos. Currently, most detection methods primarily focus on rubbings and rely on large-scale annotated datasets. However, it is necessary to detect oracle bone inscriptions on both handwriting and photo domains in practical applications. Additionally, annotating handwriting and photos is time-consuming and requires expert knowledge. An effective solution is to directly transfer the knowledge learned from the existing public dataset to the unlabeled target domain. However, the domain shift between domains heavily degrades the performance of this solution. To alleviate this problem and based on the characteristics of different domains of oracle bone, in this paper, we propose an information disentanglement method for the Unsupervised Domain Adaptive (UDA) OBIs detection to improve the detection performance of OBIs in both handwriting and photos. Specifically, we construct an image content encoder and a style encoder module to decouple the oracle bone image information. Then, a reconstruction decoder is constructed to reconstruct the source domain image guided by the target domain image information to reduce the shift between domains. To demonstrate the effectiveness of our method, we constructed an OBI detection benchmark that contains three domains: rubbing, handwriting, and photo. Extensive experiments verified the effectiveness and generality of our method on domain adaptive OBIs detection. Compared to other state-of-the-art UDAOD methods, our approach achieves an improvement of 0.5% and 0.6% in mAP for handwriting and photos, respectively. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

Many-Problem Surrogates for Transfer Evolutionary Multiobjective Optimization With Sparse Transfer Stacking

For expensive multiobjective optimization problems, there exists useful knowledge, e.g., the trained surrogate models, can be transferred to assist the optimization of a target optimization problem, which is termed as multi-problem surrogates. Stacking transfer is able to combine the pretrained source surrogate models and the preliminary target model with a meta-regression algorithm to transfer knowledge from source to target. However, when large-scale source models are involved in the many-problem scenarios, the less correlated sources may hurt the target performance, which is known as negative transfer. In this paper, sparse representation of the coefficients of meta-regression is considered to automatically select the most relevant source models for largely avoiding negative transfer. In the proposed many-problem surrogates, the coefficients of the source and target models are assumed to be sparse under the non-negativity and sum-to-one constraints. Then a sparse transfer stacking model is established with l1-norm of the coefficients. Next, the alternating direction method of multipliers is employed to solve the resulting constrained optimization problem by converting it into several much simpler problems. Most of the previous works assume that the costs for evaluation have no much difference and this assumption rarely holds in the real-world applications. In order to further reduce the total costs, an improved surrogate model with a cost-sensitive measure is designed to estimate the cost and select new solutions for real evaluation based on their estimated fitness, uncertainty and cost. Experimental results on synthetic and practical problems have demonstrated the superiority of the proposed many-problem surrogates. © 1997-2012 IEEE.

Weakly supervised 3D semantic segmentation has successfully mitigated the labor-intensive and time-consuming task of annotating 3D point clouds. However, reliably utilizing the minimal point-wise annotations for unlabeled data in complex and large-scale scenes is still challenging, such as only 20 points labeled in 2 million points. To tackle this challenge, we propose a new Uncertainty-aware Superpoint Graph Transformer (UaSGT) framework that utilizes minimal annotations for unlabeled data learning through reliable long-range supervision propagation from labeled superpoints to unlabeled superpoints. First, we propose a superpoint graph transformer to achieve long-range supervision propagation along the attention-based fuzzy subsets defined on superpoints. The attention-based fuzzy subset measures the membership of unlabeled superpoints to clusters centered on labeled superpoints. Second, we employ an uncertainty-aware membership rectification technique on the fuzzy subset to ensure reliable propagation among superpoints within the same category. This technique integrates an uncertainty prediction module to mask the influence of unreliable membership and a spatial prior refinement module to reduce uncertainty in intra-class membership degrees. Finally, experimental results on two large-scale benchmarks S3DIS and ScanNet-V2 demonstrate the superiority of our approach compared to the state-of-the-art with at least 90% annotation reduction, and our method also achieves comparable performance to fully supervised methods with less than 0.1% labeled points. Low signal to noise ratio (SNR) remains one of the limitations of diffusion weighted (DW) imaging. How to suppress the influence of noise on the subsequent analysis about the tissue microstructure is still challenging. This work proposed a novel self-supervised learning model, Replace2Self, to effectively reduce spatial correlated noise in DW images. Specifically, a voxel replacement strategy based on similar block matching in Q-space was proposed to destroy the correlations of noise in DW image along one diffusion gradient direction. To alleviate the signal gap caused by the voxel replacement, an image mixing strategy based on complementary mask was designed to generate two different noisy DW images. After that, these two noisy DW images were taken as input, and the non-correlated noisy DWimage after voxel replacement was taken as learning target, a denoising network was trained for denoising. To promote the denoising performance, a complementary mask mixing consistency loss and an inverse replacement regularization loss were also proposed. Through the comparisons against several existing DW image denoising methods on extensive simulation data with different noise distributions, noise levels and b-values, as well as the acquisition datasets and the ablation experiments, we verified the effectiveness of the proposed method. Regardless of the noise distribution and noise level, the proposed method achieved the highest PSNR, which was at least 1.9% higher than the suboptimal method when the noise level reaches 10%. Furthermore, our method has superior generalization ability due to the use of the proposed strategies. © 2025 IEEE. All rights reserved.

The integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) system can simultaneously provide communication and radar sensing, effectively improving spectrum utilization. However, existing research mainly focuses on the mono-static sensing ISAC system, which has shortcomings in limited sensing range and accuracy. We thus investigate a passive sensing multi-ISAC system with multiple communication users and sensing targets, and consider two cases for multi-target sensing without and with prior target knowledge at the base stations (BSs), in which the BSs are interested in estimating the targets' response matrix and channel coefficients, respectively. We also formulate a joint beamforming problem to minimize the Cramér-Rao bound (CRB) of the worst estimation constrained by communication requirements, and obtain the optimal solution with semidefinite relaxation (SDR) assisted transformation. To verify the advantages of our proposed scheme, we consider the bi-static BSs system (B-B) and beamforming with sensing interference cancellation (W-S) as two benchmark schemes. Numerical results illustrate that the proposed scheme obtains better sensing performance and effectively alleviates the effect caused by sensing interference. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

Co-salient object detection (CoSOD) aims to detect common salient objects across multiple related images. However, existing methods often struggle with limited attention coverage, missing some co-salient objects. To address this, we propose a two-stage feature processing module (FPM) comprising comprehensive feature extraction module (CFE) and feature enhancement module (FEM). CFE extracts comprehensive cosalient features while reducing background noise, and FEM enhances feature representation and adjusts attention weights for full object coverage. Additionally, we introduce an adversarial learning module (ALM) to improve prediction quality by reducing noise in the co-salient regions. Extensive experiments on three benchmark datasets—CoCA, CoSOD3k, and CoSal2015—demonstrate that our model significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods. Gesture recognition plays a crucial role in a wide range of consumer electronics applications, including human-computer interaction and virtual reality, by enabling the identification and interpretation of human gestures. In recent times, WiFi-based gesture recognition has garnered significant attention due to its privacy protection and unobtrusive nature. However, this approach heavily depends on neural network-based models and is notably influenced by environmental conditions, such as specific location and orientation. To address these environmental impacts, we propose a network framework that leverages transfer learning and meta-learning. The primary focus is on utilizing transfer learning to train a convolutional neural network (ResNet) for feature extraction, enabling the extraction of domain-independent features specifically related to gestures, rather than being influenced by environmental factors. Additionally, we employ the meta-learning algorithm MAML to train the fully connected network for gesture classification. Following training, a small set of samples can be utilized for rapid adaptation to diverse domains, maintaining high accuracy across different domains to achieve cross-domain gesture recognition. Our performance evaluation is based on the Widar 3.0 dataset, encompassing both in-domain and cross-domain scenarios. The simulation results demonstrate that our proposed algorithm surpasses Widar3.0 and WiGRUNT by approximately 7.9% and 1.12% in gesture recognition accuracy across all scenarios. © 2025 IEEE.

Slot filling and intent detection are two highly correlated tasks in spoken language understanding (SLU). Recent SLU research attempts to explore zero-shot prompting techniques in large language models to alleviate the data scarcity problem. Nevertheless, the existing prompting work ignores the cross-task interaction information for SLU, which leads to sub-optimal performance. To solve this problem, we present the pioneering work of Cross-task Interactive Prompting (CroPrompt) for SLU, which enables the model to interactively leverage the information exchange across the correlated tasks in SLU. Additionally, we further introduce a multi-task self-consistency mechanism to mitigate the error propagation caused by the intent information injection. We conduct extensive experiments on the standard SLU benchmark and the results reveal that CroPrompt consistently outperforms the existing prompting approaches. In addition, the multi-task self-consistency mechanism can effectively ease the error propagation issue, thereby enhancing the performance. We hope this work can inspire more research on cross-task prompting for SLU.

Graph contrastive learning based on augmentation strategies has recently demonstrated remarkable performance. Existing methods typically jointly leverage attribute and structural augmentations to generate graph views, learning data invariance information through contrasting sample pairs. However, this joint approach may deviate from the expectation of semantically similar before and after augmentation. The propagation of attribute information in graphs usually occurs through their structure, meaning that structural and attribute augmentations can interfere with each other and potentially distort the graph’s semantics. To address this, we propose a decoupled augmentation framework for graph contrastive learning, which eliminates the mutual interference between the two levels of augmentation while fully exploring graph information. Specifically, our framework employs separate encoders to learn data invariance under different augmentation levels, and it considers the positive gains generated between these levels. Experimental results on five public datasets show that the proposed method is more competitive than state-of-the-art approaches.

In this letter, a set of circularly polarized (CP) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) cellphone frame antennas for mobile communication applications is proposed. The planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA) and monopole antenna operate at frequencies of 3.5 GHz and 5.5 GHz with impedance and axial ratio (AR) bandwidths overlapping at 11.4% (3.3-3.7 GHz) and 7.3% (5.2-5.6 GHz), respectively. To reduce the electromagnetic coupling between the two antennas, the V-shaped mental fence is added and different rectangular metasurface (RMS) arrays are adopted to enhance the CP radiation performances. This design not only covers 5G communication, LTE, and the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band. It also provides a communication strategy for future direct satellite communication from cellphones, enhancing efficient switching between satellite and cellular networks. © 2002-2011 IEEE.
