Incorporating biological neuronal properties into Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) to enhance computational capabilities is under active investigation in the field of deep learning. Inspired by recent findings indicating that dendrites adhere to quadratic integration rule for synaptic inputs, this study explores the computational benefits of quadratic neurons. We theoretically demonstrate that quadratic neurons inherently capture correlation within structured data, a feature that grants them superior generalization abilities over traditional neurons. This is substantiated by few-shot learning experiments. Furthermore, we integrate the quadratic rule into Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) using a biologically plausible approach, resulting in innovative architectures-Dendritic integration inspired CNNs (Dit-CNNs). Our Dit-CNNs compete favorably with state-of-the-art models across multiple classification benchmarks, e.g., ImageNet-1K, while retaining the simplicity and efficiency of traditional CNNs. As deep learning models have made remarkable strides in numerous fields,a variety of adversarial attack methods have emerged to interfere with deep learning *** examples apply a minute perturbation to the original image,which is inconceivable to the human but produces a massive error in the deep learning *** attack methods have achieved good results when the network structure is ***,in the case of unknown network structures,the effectiveness of the attacks still needs to be ***,transfer-based attacks are now very popular because of their convenience and practicality,allowing adversarial samples generated on known models to be used in attacks on unknown *** this paper,we extract sensitive features by Grad-CAM and propose two single-step attacks methods and a multi-step attack method to corrupt sensitive *** two single-step attacks,one corrupts the features extracted from a single model and the other corrupts the features extracted from multiple *** multi-step attack,our method improves the existing attack method,thus enhancing the adversarial sample transferability to achieve better results on unknown *** method is also validated on CIFAR-10 and MINST,and achieves a 1%-3%improvement in transferability.

Etamsylate loaded oxidized Konjac glucomannan-ε-polylysine injectable hydrogels for rapid hemostasis and wound healing

Uncontrollable bleeding is a crucial factor that can lead to fatality. Therefore, the development of hemostatic dressings that enable rapid hemostasis is of utmost importance. Hydrogels with injectability, self-healing ability, and adhesiveness hold significant potential as effective hemostatic dressings. Herein, a composite hydrogel was fabricated by the oxidized Konjac glucomannan and epsilon-polylysine. After the encapsulation of a hemostatic drug, etamsylate, an oxidized Konjac glucomannan/epsilon-polylysine/etamsylate (OKGM/PL/E) composite hydrogel that possesses favorable properties including injectability, self-healing ability, tissue adhesiveness, hemocompatibility and cytocompatibility was fabricated. The OKGM/PL/E hydrogel demonstrated the ability to effectively adhere red blood cells and seal wounds, enabling rapid control of hemorrhaging. In vivo wound healing experiments confirmed the hemostatic and wound healing efficacy of the OKGM/PL/E hydrogel, highlighting its potential as a valuable hemostatic dressing. Konjac glucomannan was oxidized using NaIO4 and subsequently reacted with epsilon-polylysine to form a drug-loaded adhesive hydrogel. The hydrogel was then utilized as a hemostatic dressing.

BERD+: A Generic Sequential Recommendation Framework by Eliminating Unreliable Data with Item- and Attribute-level Signals

A preliminary work of our study was published at IJCAI’21 [47], which is substantially extended in the following aspects: (1) In Section 1, we analyze the necessity of introducing item attributes for detecting unreliable instances, together with the problems and challenges that attributes may bring in. (2) In Section 2, we add discussions about the limitations of existing attribute-aware recommender systems (Section 2.2) and denoising methods (Section 2.3) in the context of detecting unreliable instances. (3) In Section 4.2, we further conduct an in-depth analysis at the attribute level to demonstrate the capability of attributes for rectifying instance loss and uncertainty, as well as the disturbance caused by attributes. (4) We generalize BERD to a generic framework BERD+ in Section 5.1, equipped with novel modules, i.e., HU-GCN (Section 5.2) and EPE (Section 5.4), which properly incorporate item attributes while reducing their disturbance for rectifying instance uncer tainty (Section 5.5) and loss (Section 5.6). The generic BERD+ can be flexibly plugged into existing SRSs for performance enhanced recommendation via eliminating unreliable data. (5) In Section 6.2, we apply our BERD+ framework to seven state-of-the-art SRSs on five real-world datasets to illustrate its superiority. (6) To avoid unfair comparison caused by item attributes, we build and compare with the baseline that combines the original BERD and an advanced attribute-aware recommender system, KSR [19]. (7) For more comprehensive comparison, in Section 6.2.2, we compare BRED+ with two state-of-the-art denoising approaches;in Section 6.2.3, to examine the efficacy of HU-GCN and EPE, we compare HU-GCN with various attribute embedding techniques, i.e., variants of graph neural networks, and compare EPE with different attribute fusing methods, i.e., adding, concatenation, and weighted sum. The random walk is one of the most basic dynamic properties of complex networks,which has gradually become a research hotspot in recent years due to its many applications in actual *** important characteristic of the random walk is the mean time to absorption,which plays an extremely important role in the study of topology,dynamics and practical application of complex *** the mean time to absorption on the regular iterative self-similar network models is an important way to explore the inﬂuence of self-similarity on the properties of random walks on the *** existing literatures have proved that even local self-similar structures can greatly affect the properties of random walks on the global network,but they have failed to prove whether these effects are related to the scale of these self-similar *** this article,we construct and study a class of Horizontal Par-titioned Sierpinski Gasket network model based on the classic Sierpinski gasket net-work,which is composed of local self-similar structures,and the scale of these structures will be controlled by the partition coefﬁcient ***,the analytical expressions and approximate expressions of the mean time to absorption on the network model are obtained,which prove that the size of the self-similar structure in the network will directly restrict the inﬂuence of the self-similar structure on the properties of random walks on the ***,we also analyzed the mean time to absorption of different absorption nodes on the network toﬁnd the location of the node with the highest absorption efﬁciency.

Time-Locked Puzzle (TLP) and timed-release encryption (T-RE) are both time-based locking mechanisms. The former requires the decryptor to perform a predetermined amount of computation, while the latter requires a trusted server to release the decryption information after a preset time, thereby sending information to the future. As research has progressed, many feature-rich TLPs and TREs have emerged. However, TLP and TRE still face issues in practical deployment. The imbalance in computation load with TLP can result in significant computational burdens in many deployment scenarios, while the timed release in TRE necessitates that the server remains online. To address these issues, our goal is to develop a multifunctional solution to offload the computational burden and allow the server to be offline. Our scheme focuses on RSA-based TLPs and builds upon the sequential TRE schemes proposed by Chvojka and Jager et al.(ESORICS’21). We construct a multi-timeline scheme that aggregates multiple functions and allows the server to be offline. The multi-timeline structure proposed in our scheme, consisting of a main timeline, sub-timelines, and reward timelines, allows different timelines to assume different functions, and the main timeline controls the information release of the remaining timelines to achieve an efficient puzzle-solving release mechanism. The reward timeline provides a transfer account for storing bonuses for entities that solve puzzles, which achieves a self-balancing mechanism for computing resources. Due to the completion of a transaction guaranteed by the adaptor signature and smart contract, which ensure the atomicity of the transaction, the scheme achieves a traceable fair trading mechanism and a public verification mechanism. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Low-Cost Beam Steering that Covers the Entire Azimuthal Plane Powered by Amplitude-Only Synthesis of a Quintuple-Dipole Source

A new amplitude-only synthesis approach in quintuple electric dipoles(EDs)is proposed to enable the regulation of power flow in the azimuthal *** regulation methodology is investigated analytically with double ED,triple ED and quintuple ED ***,when the phase difference between the EDs switches,the double ED model,acting as a reconfigurable source,can work in two modes with different power flow directions,i.e.,unidirectional mode and bidirectional ***,from the triple ED model,it is verified that the power flow in the two working modes can be regulated to the desired direction in the azimuthal plane with high precision by controlling the feeding amplitudes of the ***,a quintuple ED model is developed to enhance the symmetry and consistency of the power flow regulation in the ***,a prototype of the azimuthal beam steering system,including digitally controlled radio-frequency(RF)frontend tuning circuits,optimized practical feeding elements,and an end-fire radiator,is designed,fabricated and *** unidirectional and bidirectional modes are observed,and satisfactory single-beam and dual-beam steering performance in the azimuthal plane is *** most phased arrays that realize beam steering by configuring phases,the beam steering of the proposed reconfigurable source in each mode can be arbitrarily synthesized only by the amplitudes of the quintuple feeding elements,which provides a new route for realizing low-cost and multifunctional beam-steering systems.
