Continuous queries for moving objects are becoming more and more important due to the increasing number of application domains that deal with moving entities. The asynchronous updating algorithm for continuous queries of moving objects is superior to synchronous updating algorithms in communication cost. By improving Haibo Hu's rectangle safe region strategy we proposed a new continuous queries algorithm. Circle safe region and dynamic interval are adopted in our algorithm. Theory proof and experiment results show that our algorithm substantially outperforms the traditional periodic monitoring and the rectangle safe region algorithms in terms of monitoring accuracy, communication cost and CPU time. Furthermore, the mobile terminals need not have any computation ability in our algorithm.

At present the most widely used technology of pinyin-Chinese character conversion combines statistics with linguistic rules. Although it basically solves such problems as long distance restriction and language recursion phenomenon,it relies on a great deal of computation because there are too many candidate paths. This paper tries to simplify the candidate paths by using quotient space granularity computation theory, first obtains the scope of the best path in the coarser granularity world, and then uses more language rules to obtain the best path. The experiments indicate that this method can reduce the computation, speed up the conversion, and enhance the rate of accuracy by nearly 2%.

N and P-channel groove-gate MOSFETs based on a self-aligned CMOS process have been fabricated and characterized. For the devices with channel length of 140nm, the measured drain induced barrier lowering (DIBL) was 66mV/V for n-MOSFETs and 82mV/V for p-MOSFETs. The substrate current of a groove-gate n-MOSFET was 150 times less than that of a conventional planar n-MOSFET, These results demonstrate that groove-gate MOSFETs have excellent capabilities in suppressing short-channel effects. It is worth emphasizing that our groove-gate MOSFET devices are fabricated by using a simple process flow, with the potential of fabricating devices in the sub-100nm range.

Barcode has been widely applied in the modern world. This paper presents a fast and robust recognition method of noisy code 39 barcode. The proposed method can be divided into two steps: search and decoding. In the first step, all asterisks in the image are found with evenly defined scan lines and then those with the same directions are matched together to get a valid barcode region. In the second step, a local denoise method is first applied to eliminate noise in the barcode region and then a middle band filter is used to decode the barcode. Our method is simple in comparison with former methods and experimental results show that it is efficient for fast barcode recognition on noisy images.

Workflow management technologies play a very important role in constructing grid application environment by automating service composition and execution. With the fast spread of grid technology, workflow management system should be flexible to meet increasing requirements of service composition. This paper introduces a distributed workflow management approach DWM4CGSP named distributed workflow management for CGSP, which can improve capability of workflow execution by dynamically assimilating new workflow engines and balancing workload among these engines. Moreover dynamic load balancing is applied in DWM4CGSP in order to make workload on each engine at reasonable level. In workflow systems or other applications, users need more semantic information. Ontologies and semantic Web are important technologies for managing semantic information. Our work is focused on semantic spatial information in distributed workflow. The spatial relations was described by Description Logic, the ontologies was then constructed using the RDF Schemas and OWL Capabilities. These theories and methods are enclosed in a middleware, and the middleware was embedded in workflow system of the government in Jilin Province.
