Structured Sentiment Analysis (SSA) was cast as a problem of bi-lexical dependency graph parsing by prior studies. Multiple formulations have been proposed to construct the graph, which share several intrinsic drawbacks: (1) The internal structures of spans are neglected, thus only the boundary tokens of spans are used for relation prediction and span recognition, thus hindering the model’s expressiveness;(2) Long spans occupy a significant proportion in the SSA datasets, which further exacerbates the problem of internal structure neglect. In this paper, we treat the SSA task as a dependency parsing task on partially-observed dependency trees, regarding flat spans without determined tree annotations as latent subtrees to consider internal structures of spans. We propose a two-stage parsing method and leverage TreeCRFs with a novel constrained inside algorithm to model latent structures explicitly, which also takes advantages of joint scoring graph arcs and headed spans for global optimization and inference. Results of extensive experiments on five benchmark datasets reveal that our method performs significantly better than all previous bi-lexical methods, achieving new state-of-the-art. © 2024, CC BY.

A New Adaptive Balanced Augmented Lagrangian Method with Application to ISAC Beamforming Design

In this paper, we consider a class of convex programming problems with linear equality constraints, which finds broad applications in machine learning and signal processing. We propose a new adaptive balanced augmented Lagrangian (ABAL) method for solving these problems. The proposed ABAL method adaptively selects the stepsize parameter and enjoys a low per-iteration complexity, involving only the computation of a proximal mapping of the objective function and the solution of a linear equation. These features make the proposed method wellsuited to large-scale problems. We then custom-apply the ABAL method to solve the ISAC beamforming design problem, which is formulated as a nonlinear semidefinite program in a previous work. This customized application requires careful exploitation of the problem's special structure such as the property that all of its signal-to-interference-and-noise-ratio (SINR) constraints hold with equality at the solution and an efficient computation of the proximal mapping of the objective function. Predictive Resilience Assessment Featuring Diffusion Reconstruction for Road Networks Under Rainfall Disturbances

The ability of road networks to withstand external disturbances is a crucial measure of transportation system performance, where resilience distinctly emerges as an effective perspective for its unique insights into the system's resistance and recovery capabilities. In the face of unforeseen resilience disturbance events, predictive and accurate assessment of road network resilience is essential for better traffic regulation and emergency response management. However, existing resilience assessment methods of road networks are insufficient: they lack reliable real-time big-data analysis, do not possess predictive capabilities for guiding decision-making, and have a narrow view with single-dimensional resilience indicators. To address these issues, focusing on rainfall disturbance scenarios, this work introduces a novel resilience assessment method, which is predictive and real-time, consisting of two components: a traffic indicator prediction model and a comprehensive resilience assessment model. Firstly, we propose a two-stage traffic indicator prediction model, namely the Conditional Diffusion-Reconstruction-based Graph Neural Network (CDRGNN), which particularly enhances disturbance-scenario prediction accuracy, thereby providing reliable foresight in aid of the following assessments. Subsequently, we develop a resilience assessment model featuring structural-functional comprehensive resilience indicators established on the shortest-path aggregation, and the overall resilience assessment is performed through comparative analysis using indicators obtained in real time with historical non-disruptive resilience benchmarks. In a case study focusing on heavy rainfall disturbances on a road network in California, USA, abundant experiments and visualizations are conducted to demonstrate the rationality of our proposed comprehensive resilience indicators as well as the precision and reliability of these predictive resilience assessment outcomes. © 2024, The Authors. Video scene detection aims to temporally link shots for obtaining semantically compact scenes. It is essential for this task to capture scene-distinguishable affinity among shots by similarity assessment. However, most methods relies on ordinary shot-to-shot similarities, which may inveigle similar shots into being linked even though they are from different scenes, and meanwhile hinder dissimilar shots from being blended into a complete scene. In this paper, we propose NeighborNet to inject shot contexts into shot-to-shot similarities through carefully exploring the relations between semantic/temporal neighbors of shots over a local time period. In this way, shot-to-shot similarities are remeasured as semantic/temporal neighbor-aware similarities so that NeighborNet can learn context embedding into shot features using graph convolutional network. As a result, not only do the learned shot features suppress the affinity among similar shots from different scenes, but they also promote the affinity among dissimilar shots in the same scene. Experimental results on public benchmark datasets show that our proposed NeighborNet yields substantial improvements in video scene detection, especially outperforms released state-of-the-arts by at least 6% in Average Precision (AP). Hybrid fuzzing as an automated vulnerability detection technique, has gained widespread attention in recent years. It combines the advantages of fuzzing and concolic execution. Yet, existing hybrid fuzzing techniques face practical problems such as the high performance overhead of concolic execution and the difficulty of utilizing the results of the solution in fuzzing. We noted that concolic execution often falls into repetitive loop structures when analyzing testcases generated by fuzzing, leading to the constant construction of redundant constraint expressions, which severely impacts the efficiency of concolic execution. Based on this observation, we design a testcases trimming method to improve the efficiency of concolic execution. The key idea is to use lightweight taint analysis to infer and restore the syntactic structure of the testcase, and through the concept of delta debugging, gradually confirm nodes that do not affect the program coverage path, and remove the corresponding data segments from the testcase. We apply our method to hybrid fuzzing, called TrimFuzz. Our evaluation shows that for testing programs that process highly structured data, TrimFuzz brings an average of 8.2% improvement in code coverage and triggers 115 more unique crashes compared to QSYM.

Efficient and Effective Weakly-Supervised Action Segmentation via Action-Transition-Aware Boundary Alignment

Weakly-supervised action segmentation is a task of learning to partition a long video into several action segments, where training videos are only accompanied by transcripts (ordered list of actions). Most of existing methods need to infer pseudo segmentation for training by serial alignment between all frames and the transcript, which is time-consuming and hard to be parallelized while training. In this work, we aim to escape from this inefficient alignment with massive but redundant frames, and instead to directly localize a few action transitions for pseudo segmentation generation, where a transition refers to the change from an action segment to its next adjacent one in the transcript. As the true transitions are submerged in noisy boundaries due to intra-segment visual variation, we propose a novel Action-Transition-Aware Boundary Alignment (ATBA) framework to efficiently and effectively filter out noisy boundaries and detect transitions. In addition, to boost the semantic learning in the case that noise is inevitably present in the pseudo segmentation, we also introduce video-level losses to utilize the trusted video-level supervision. The inherent complexity of Wi-Fi signals makes video-aided Wi-Fi 3D pose estimation difficult. The challenges include the limited generalizability of the task across diverse environments, its significant signal heterogeneity, and its inadequate ability to analyze local and geometric information. To overcome these challenges, we introduce WiViPose, a video-aided Wi-Fi framework for 3D pose estimation, which attains enhanced cross-environment generalization through cross-layer optimization. Bilinear temporal-spectral fusion (BTSF) is initially used to fuse the time-domain and frequency-domain features derived from Wi-Fi. Video features are derived from a multiresolution convolutional pose machine and enhanced by local self-attention. Cross-modality data fusion is facilitated through an attention-based transformer, with the process further refined under a supervisory mechanism. WiViPose demonstrates effectiveness by achieving an average percentage of correct keypoints (PCK)@50 of 91.01% across three typical indoor environments. © 2025 IEEE.
