CenterRCNN: Two-Stage Anchor-Free Object Detection Using Center keypoint-Based Region Proposal Network

The classic two-stage object detection algorithms such as faster regions with convolutional neural network features (Faster RCNN) suffer from low speed and anchor hyper-parameter sensitive problems caused by dense anchor mechanism in region proposal network (RPN). Recently, the anchor-free method CenterNet shows the effectiveness of perceiving and classifing object by its center. However, the severe coincidence false positive problem between confusing categories caused by the multiple binary classifiers makes it still insufficient in accuracy. We introduce a two-stage network CenterRCNN to take advantage of both and overcome their shortcomings. CenterRPN is proposed as the first stage to give proposals that incorporate the center keypoint idea into RPN to perceive foreground objects, replacing dense anchor-based RPN. Then the proposals are classified by the multi-classifier of RCNN header that focuses more on the difference between confusing categories and only outputs the maximum probability one of them. To sum up, CenterRPN can eliminate the drawbacks of dense anchor based RPN in Faster RCNN, and multi-classifier’s classification ability is better than that of multiple binary classifiers in CenterNet. The experiment demonstrates that CenterRCNN outperforms both basic algorithms in the accuracy, and the speed is improved as compared with Faster RCNN. © 2023, Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Indoor Vehicle Positioning Based on Multi-Sensor Data Fusion

This study proposes a Kalman filter-based indoor vehicle positioning method for cases in which the steering angle and rotation speed of the vehicle’s wheels are *** fusing the position and velocity data from the ultra-wideband sensors and acceleration and orientation data from the inertial measurement unit,we developed two algorithms to estimate the real-time position of the vehicle based on a linear Kalman filter and extended Kalman filter,*** then conducted simulations and experiments to examine the performances of the *** the experiment,the Kalman filtering hyperparameters are configured,and we then ran the two algorithms to determine the positioning precision and accuracy with the ground truth produced via *** verified that our method can improve precision and accuracy compared with the raw positioning data and can achieve desirable effects for indoor vehicle positioning when vehicles travel at low speeds.

Real-Time Trajectory Planning for On-road Autonomous Tractor-Trailer Vehicles

Tractor-trailer vehicles,which are composed of a car-like tractor towing a passive trailer,have been widely deployed in the transportation industry,and trajectory planning is a critical step in enabling such a system to drive *** to the properties of being highly nonlinear and nonholonomic with complex dynamics,the tractor-trailer system poses great challenges to the development of motion-planning *** this study,an indirect trajectory planning framework for a tractor-trailer vehicle under on-road driving is presented to deal with the problem that the traditional planning framework cannot consider the feasibility and quality simultaneously in real-time trajectory generation of the tractor-trailer *** indirect planning framework can easily handle complicated tractor-trailer dynamics and generate high-quality,obstacle-free trajectory using quintic polynomial spline,speed profile optimization,forward simulation,and properly designed cost *** under different driving scenarios and trajectories with different driving requirements are conducted to validate the performance of the proposed framework.

Enhanced exergy cost optimization of operating conditions in FCCU main fractionator

Exergy indicates the maximal energy that can do work effectively. Different from optimization of product quality or calculation of generic energy conservation in most previous studies, the application of exergy analysis and exergy cost optimization in petrochemical industry is of great economic and environmental significance. Based on the main fractionator in Jiujiang Petrochemical Complex No. 2 FCCU, an enhanced exergy cost optimization under different operating conditions by adjusting set points of temperature and valves opening degree for flow control is studied in this paper in order to reduce exergy cost and improve the quality of energy. A steadystate optimization algorithm to enhance exergy availability and an objective function comprehensively considering exergy loss are proposed. On the basis of ensuring the quality of petroleum products, the economic benefits can be improved by optimizing the controllable variables due to the fact that exergy cost is decreased.

With the proliferation of IoT devices, there is an escalating demand for enhanced computing and communication capabilities. Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) addresses this need by relocating computing resources to the network edge, thereby delivering swifter and more efficient services. This paper introduces a computation offloading and energy consumption optimization framework that leverages Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS), Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), and MEC. The scheme aims to maximize energy efficiency through the optimization of task allocation, RIS phase shifts, and UAV trajectories. By employing the Multi-Agent Twin Delayed Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (MATD3) reinforcement learning algorithm, the paper further refines UAV trajectories and RIS configurations. The simulation results indicate that the proposed method surpasses the traditional Concave-Convex Procedure (CCCP) algorithm in both UAV trajectory control and RIS configuration, demonstrating quicker convergence and enhanced stability. The method proves to be adaptable to diverse environments and tasks, showcasing notable benefits in RIS-assisted interference suppression, particularly with large RIS, thereby enhancing UAV data reception rates. Additionally, MATD3 exhibits faster and smoother convergence for extended task durations and smaller RIS scenarios. Simulation results reveal that UAVs tend to move closer to RIS, with energy efficiency falling as IoT tasks increase, affirming the proposed algorithm's high energy efficiency and effectiveness. © 2025 IEEE.

PCE-GAN: A Generative Adversarial Network for Point Cloud Attribute Quality Enhancement based on Optimal Transport

Point cloud compression significantly reduces data volume but sacrifices reconstruction quality, highlighting the need for advanced quality enhancement techniques. Most existing approaches focus primarily on point-to-point fidelity, often neglecting the importance of perceptual quality as interpreted by the human visual system. To address this issue, we propose a generative adversarial network for point cloud quality enhancement (PCE-GAN), grounded in optimal transport theory, with the goal of simultaneously optimizing both data fidelity and perceptual quality. The generator consists of a local feature extraction (LFE) unit, a global spatial correlation (GSC) unit and a feature squeeze unit. The LFE unit uses dynamic graph construction and a graph attention mechanism to efficiently extract local features, placing greater emphasis on points with severe distortion. The GSC unit uses the geometry information of neighboring patches to construct an extended local neighborhood and introduces a transformer-style structure to capture long-range global correlations. The discriminator computes the deviation between the probability distributions of the enhanced point cloud and the original point cloud, guiding the generator to achieve high quality reconstruction. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieves state-of-the-art performance. Specifically, when applying PCE-GAN to the latest geometry-based point cloud compression (G-PCC) test model, it achieves an average BD-rate of -19.2% compared with the PredLift coding configuration and -18.3% compared with the RAHT coding configuration. Subjective comparisons show a significant improvement in texture clarity and color transitions, revealing finer details and more natural color gradients. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. This paper j ointly designs the communication and control schemes for vehicle platoons by taking into consideration of the limited communication and computing resources of *** at achieving the stable tracking of the member vehicles at a desired inter-vehicle distance and the same velocity,while improving the communication and computation efficiency,we propose a bandwidth-aware transmission scheduling(BATS) mechanism and an event-triggered distributed model predictive control(ET-DMPC) scheme for the longitudinal control of a vehicle ***,by introducing bandwidth-aware parameters,the triggering threshold for the event-triggered BATS mechanism is dynamically adjusted according to vehicle and bandwidth ***,an output-based ET-DMPC scheme is designed to ensure that the platoon tracks a reference velocity and maintains the desired inter-vehicle ***,extensive simulations are carried out and the results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed BATS mechanism and ET-DMPC scheme in terms of adaptive communication scheduling and low computational burden.

The advantage of vehicle platoons is reflected in their tighter inter-vehicle ***,under the non-ideal communication environment,communication outage occurs which may cause the distance between adjacent vehicles too close to result in a collision *** the communication outage with predecessor following between vehicles in a platoon,and applying the constant time headway policy,firstly,this paper quantifies the relationship among headway time,control parameter and communication reliability probability while satisfying plant stability and string ***,given a communication reliability probability,the parameter space method is used to obtain the range of the control parameter,so as to ensure platoon ***,we optimize the transmission power of vehicles to minimize the worst outage probability by some transformation and the adoption of the Perron-Frobenius *** this way,an iterative update rule is presented to obtain the optimal transmission ***,the simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control parameter adjustment method and power optimization scheme.

Bandwidth Allocation with Minimum Rate Constraints in Cluster-based Femtocell Networks

Inter-femtocell interference becomes serious when femtocells are densely deployed. To mitigate the inter-femtocell interference, this paper proposes a cluster-based bandwidth allocation algorithm. We create femtocell clusters by constructing a weighted interference graph and allocate bandwidth to each cluster based on a Nash bargaining solution(NBS). Simulation results show that the cluster-based bandwidth allocation algorithm can reduce the inter-femtocell interference and meet the minimum rate constraint of each cluster.
