Air Pollution Monitoring By Integrating Local and Global Information in Self-Adaptive Multiscale Transform Domain

As the deadliest form of pollution, air pollution had a prolonged severe damage to the human health and life safety of nearly 99% of the world's population. Facing to the problem that billions of tons of pollutants discharged into the air per year by industrial activities, this paper proposed a novel image-based air pollution monitor (IAPM) by incorporating local and global information in the self-adaptive multiscale transform domain, so as to achieve the timely and effective leakage detection of typical air pollutants from a single image. To be specific, this paper first developed a screen-shaped module according to two significant findings in visual neuroscience, which include the high sensitivity of human eyes to horizontal and vertical stimuli and the center-surround inhibition, by designing and fusing the square module, horizontal strip module and vertical strip module parallelly for simulating the behaviour of human eyes to extract local features. Second, the learnable weights and proportional mapping were applied to incorporate the screen-shaped module and lightweight vision transformer as backbone, towards more richly exploiting and fusing local and global information just as the way a brain perceives external stimuli. Third, a new self-adaptive multiscale transform domain method was devised based on two motivations from the visual characteristics of multiscale perception and the brain characteristics of self-adaptive domain transform to modify the backbone by using the operations of pooling and pointwise convolution. Extensive experiments implemented on the datasets of carbon particulate matters and ethylene leakage confirmed the superior monitoring performance of the proposed IAPM model beyond the state-of-the-art (SOTA) peers by an accuracy gain of about 4%. Furthermore, the proposed IAPM model only required 0.089 GFLOPs and 0.15 million model parameters, remarkably outperforming SOTA competitors in computational efficiency and storage resources. © 1999-2

With the high penetration of renewable energies in modern power systems,deterministic coordination algorithms are facing two major problems:one is degradation in accuracy if fewer scenarios are utilized for uncertainty evaluation while second is the high computational time if a high number of scenarios are considered for better accuracy・In both cases,the efficiency of the algorithm is degraded・To solve these problems in coupled transmission system and distribution systems(TSDS),probabilistic coordination algorithms are adopted to solve with less *** this paper,a TSDS probabilistic coordination model is proposed to solve the coordinated security-constrained unit commitment problem.A mean and standard deviation matching based probabilistic analytical target cascading algorithm has been utilized for evaluation of TSDS coordination *** of solving each scenario as a separate problem,the proposed algorithm considers a single coordination problem with probabilistic characteristics as shared variables and hence,achieves fast convergence・Different case studies are performed to prove the efficacy of the proposed *** verify that the proposed algorithm reduces computational time and resources for large-scale systems.

Risk-aware Distributed Optimal Power Flow in Coordinated Transmission and Distribution system

Active distribution grids cause bi-directional power flow between transmission system(TS)and distribution system(DS),which not only affects the optimal cost but also the secure operation of the power *** paper proposes a hybrid coordination method to solve the risk-aware distributed optimal power flow(RA-DOPF)problem in coordinated TS and *** operation risk evaluation,the weather-based contingencies are considered in both TS and DS.A hybrid coordination method is developed that entails analytical target cascading(ATC)and Benders decomposition(BD).Moreover,the risk-aware optimal power flow(RAOPF)in TS and risk-based security-constrained optimal power flow in DS have been performed using the BD method considering basic optimal power flow as a master problem,whereas N-1 and N-2 contingencies are considered as *** case studies are performed using the IEEE 30-bus system with generation reserves as a TS and a 13-bus system as a *** results demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed method.

Industrial Internet of Things(IoT)connecting society and industrial systems represents a tremendous and promising paradigm *** IoT,multimodal and heterogeneous data from industrial devices can be easily collected,and further analyzed to discover device maintenance and health related potential knowledge *** data-based fault diagnosis for industrial devices is very helpful to the sustainability and applicability of an IoT *** how to efficiently use and fuse this multimodal heterogeneous data to realize intelligent fault diagnosis is still a *** this paper,a novel Deep Multimodal Learning and Fusion(DMLF)based fault diagnosis method is proposed for addressing heterogeneous data from IoT environments where industrial devices ***,a DMLF model is designed by combining a Convolution Neural Network(CNN)and Stacked Denoising Autoencoder(SDAE)together to capture more comprehensive fault knowledge and extract features from different modal ***,these multimodal features are seamlessly integrated at a fusion layer and the resulting fused features are further used to train a classifier for recognizing potential ***,a two-stage training algorithm is proposed by combining supervised pre-training and fine-tuning to simplify the training process for deep structure models.A series of experiments are conducted over multimodal heterogeneous data from a gear device to verify our proposed fault diagnosis *** experimental results show that our method outperforms the benchmarking ones in fault diagnosis accuracy.

Stability Analysis of Networked control systems with Aperiodic Sampling and Time-Varying Delay

This paper addresses the stability of networked control systems with aperiodic sampling and time-varying network-induced delay. The sampling intervals are assumed to vary within a known interval. The transmission delay is assumed to belong to a given interval. The closed-loop system is first converted to a discrete-time system with multiple time-varying delays and norm-bounded uncertainties resulting from the variation of the sampling intervals. And then, it is transformed into a delay-free system being form of an interconnection of two subsystems. By utilizing scaled small gain theorem, an asymptotic stability criterion for the closed-loop system is proposed in terms of linear matrix inequality. Finally, numerical examples demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method and its advantages over existing methods. © 2013 IEEE.

Optimal Switching Integrity Attacks on Sensors in Industrial control systems

In this article, an optimal switching integrity attack problem is investigated to study the response of feedback control systems under attack. The authors model the malicious attacks on sensors as additive norm bounded signals. The authors consider an attacker who is only capable of launching attacks to limited number of sensors once a time and changing the combinations of attacked sensors all over the time. The objective of this paper is to find the optimal switching sequence of these combinations and the optimal attack input. The authors solve this problem by transforming it into a traditional optimal control problem with new control variables vary continuously in the range [0, 1]. The optimal solutions of the new control variables are of bang-bang-type. Therefore, an algebraic switching condition and an optimal attack input can be obtained. Finally, numerical results are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the methods. © 2019, The Editorial Office of JSSC & Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany.

A Monitoring Method for the Ice Shape and the Freeze-Thaw Process of Ice Accretion on Transmission Line Based on Circular FBG Plane Principal Strain Sensor

As a key infrastructure for China’s “West-to-East Power Transmission” project, transmission lines (TL) face the threat of ice accretion under complex microclimatic conditions. This study proposes a plane principal strain sensing method based on a fiber Bragg grating circular array, achieving synchronous monitoring of 6 strains (ranging from -2000 to 2000 με) across the TL cross-section. Through finite element simulation experiments, a mapping relationship between the bending of TL and the plane principal strain has been established. After completing the sensor calibration, an experimental platform for the freeze-thaw process of ice accretion on the TL was built. The relationships between ice mass and bending strain, as well as the ice shape on the TL cross-section (C-shaped and circular ice) and plane principal strain, were studied. Furthermore, a BP neural network model was developed to determine the 4 states of the icing process (no ice/freeze/stable/thaw), achieving an accuracy of 91.23%. This study provides effective monitoring of the freeze-thaw process of ice accretion on the TL, offering important technical support for the prevention and control of ice accretion in power grid. © 2001-2012 IEEE.
