A Novel Construction of Two-Dimensional Z-Complementary Array Code Sets Based on Extended Boolean Functions

Two-dimensional (2-D) array sets with good 2-D correlation properties have received considerable attention in wireless communication systems. This paper focuses on 2-D Z-complementary array code sets (ZCACSs), which have ideal 2-D correlation properties within a rectangular zone around the origin. By developing a theory linking 2-D extended Boolean functions with 2-D arrays, we establish an efficient construction of 2-D ZCACSs. In contrast to previous work, the proposed construction is capable of producing 2-D ZCACSs with new flexible parameters. Constructions of three-dimensional (3-D) and higher-dimensional ZCACSs are further investigated. We remark that 2-D and higher-dimensional complete complementary codes (CCCs) can also be generated from the proposed constructions. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

Math word problem (MWP) represents a critical research area within reading comprehension, where accurate comprehension of math problem text is crucial for generating math expressions. However, current approaches still grapple with unresolved challenges in grasping the sensitivity of math problem text and delineating distinct roles across various clause types, and enhancing numerical representation. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a Numerical Magnitude Aware Multi-Channel Hierarchical Encoding Network (NMA-MHEA) for math expression generation. Firstly, NMA-MHEA implements a multi-channel hierarchical context encoding module to learn context representations at three different channels: intra-clause channel, inter-clause channel, and context-question interaction channel. NMA-MHEA constructs hierarchical constituent-dependency graphs for different levels of sentences and employs a Hierarchical Graph Attention Neural Network (HGAT) to learn syntactic and semantic information within these graphs at the intra-clause and inter-clause channels. NMA-MHEA then refines context clauses using question information at the context-question interaction channel. Secondly, NMA-MHEA designs a number encoding module to enhance the relative magnitude information among numerical values and type information of numerical values. Experimental results on two public benchmark datasets demonstrate that NMA-MHEA outperforms other state-of-the-art models. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

Speech-to-text translation (ST) is a cross-modal task that involves converting spoken language into text in a different language. Previous research primarily focused on enhancing speech translation by facilitating knowledge transfer from machine translation, exploring various methods to bridge the gap between speech and text modalities. Despite substantial progress made, factors in speech that are not relevant to translation content, such as timbre and rhythm, often limit the efficiency of knowledge transfer. In this paper, we conceptualize speech representation as a combination of content-agnostic and content-relevant factors. We examine the impact of content-agnostic factors on translation performance through preliminary experiments and observe a significant performance deterioration when content-agnostic perturbations are introduced to speech signals. To address this issue, we propose a Speech Representation Purification with Supervision Enhancement (SRPSE) framework, which excludes the content-agnostic components within speech representations to mitigate their negative impact on ST. Experiments on MuST-C and CoVoST-2 datasets demonstrate that SRPSE significantly improves translation performance across all translation directions in three settings and achieves preeminent performance under a transcript-free setting. © 2025 Association for Computational Linguistics.

Simplicial complexes graph convolution networks with higher-order features learning for limited samples diagnosis

With the advancement of industrial automation, there is an increasing focus on research concerning limited fault samples. Although meta-learning and other methods can address this issue, they often necessitate the incorporation of additional data and are unable to directly diagnose faults using only unlabeled data along with a small amount of labeled data. In response, this article proposes the use of simplicial complexes graph convolutional networks for fault diagnosis, which simultaneously account for both higher-order and lower-order topological structures among samples. This approach effectively addresses the challenge of limited samples by extracting relevant information from unlabeled data without the need to introduce new knowledge. Initially, simplices of varying dimensions are employed within a constructed simple graph to represent different relationships among samples. Subsequently, the simplicial complexes convolutional network is introduced to capture the higher-order information, while the graph convolutional network is utilized to obtain the lower-order information. The combined feature information is then input into a classifier for fault diagnosis. Finally, experiments conducted on two datasets characterized by small sample sizes or imbalanced samples demonstrate the method's commendable diagnostic performance, as well as its robustness and practicality. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

One of the primary air pollutants that has a detrimental effect on both the environment and human health is sulfur dioxide. The ecosystem and climate greatly depend on the high-precision monitoring of sulfur dioxide. In this study, SO2 ground-based data in Xi'an and Hangzhou were calculated using the UV continuous spectral inversion method, and the accuracy was confirmed using OMI satellite data that had undergone bilinear spatial interpolation. Although there are still some discrepancies in the comparative analysis results, the results indicate a good correlation between the ground-based measurement results of the UV hyperspectral solar radiometer and OMI data products;the correlation numbers are 0.938 and 0.941, respectively, and the relative errors are roughly 10%. The ultraviolet hyperspectral solar radiometer can complement this study's findings with accuracy and is a valuable tool for environmental monitoring. © 2025 SPIE.

Amplified emission and lasing enabled by high-Q quasi-bound states in asymmetric dielectric metasurfaces via eigenfield perturbation

Symmetry-protected bound states in the continuum represent a distinct class of nonradiative modes in continuous media. By introducing asymmetric parameters into a symmetric metasurface, the inherent symmetry can be broken, transforming BICs—originally decoupled from external radiation channels—into high-Q quasi-BICs with controlled radiation capabilities. However, manufacturing constraints pose a significant challenge in fabricating nanostructures with ultra-small asymmetric parameters, thereby limiting the achievable Q-factor. In this work, we propose an asymmetric perforated metasurface structure that supports BICs. When the perforations are shifted along the x or y axis to a specific position, the linewidth vanishes, and simulations confirm the emergence of a BIC in the system, with a quality factor reaching up to 10⁹. Furthermore, we demonstrate that selective eigenmode perturbation can effectively transform BICs into practical quasi-BICs. Notably, for the same structure, perturbing the weak-field region yields higher Q-factors, offering a flexible approach to optimizing performance. This approach enables precise Q-factor control and enhanced radiation properties. Furthermore, we design a laser cavity structure based on these quasi-BICs, achieving amplified emission and lasing with excellent agreement between simulations and theoretical predictions. These findings expand the BIC library and offer new methods for Q-factor manipulation, paving the way for high-performance optoelectronic devices such as nanolasers, biosensors, and nonlinear harmonic generators. © 2025 Optica Publishing Group under the terms of the Optica Open Access Publishing Agreement.

Sequences with low/zero ambiguity zone (LAZ/ZAZ) properties are useful in modern communication and radar systems operating over mobile environments. This paper first presents a new family of ZAZ sequence sets motivated by the "modulating" zero correlation zone (ZCZ) sequences which were first proposed by Popovic and Mauritz. We then introduce a second family of ZAZ sequence sets with comb-like spectrum, whereby the local Doppler resilience is guaranteed by their inherent spectral nulls in the frequency domain. Finally, LAZ sequence sets are obtained by exploiting their connection with a novel class of mapping functions. These proposed unimodular ZAZ and LAZ sequence sets are cyclically distinct and asymptotically optimal with respect to the existing theoretical bounds on ambiguity functions. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

In this paper, we propose a highly accurate scheme for two KdV systems of the Boussinesq type under periodic boundary conditions. The proposed scheme combines the Fourier-Galerkin method for spatial discretization with Hamiltonian boundary value methods for time integration, ensuring the conservation of discrete mass and energy. By expanding the system in Fourier series, the equations are firstly transformed into Hamiltonian form, preserving the original Hamiltonian structure. Applying the Fourier-Galerkin method for semi-discretization in space, we obtain a large-scale system of Hamiltonian ordinary differential equations, which is then solved using a class of energy-conserving Runge-Kutta methods, known as Hamiltonian boundary value methods. The efficiency of this approach is assessed, and several numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the method. © 2025 IMACS

In this paper, we improve the bound on the minimum distance for the family of binary cyclic codes proposed by Sun et al. (2024) [8]. The 3-ary analogue is also studied in this paper, which is a nice family of ternary cyclic codes that contains some best known linear codes, and this family has a better lower bound on minimum distance than that of codes proposed by Chen et al. A Tetrahedral Spectral Element Method for Thermo-Mechanical Analysis of Electronic Devices

For the coupled thermo-mechanical simulation of complex electronic devices, we propose a Tetrahedral Spectral Element Method (TSEM), which truly combines the high accuracy of spectral methods with the strong geometric adaptability of Finite Element Methods (FEMs). The TSEM employs a collapse transformation method and successfully converts the orthogonal Gauss-Lobatto-Legendre (GLL) basis functions from a hexahedron to a tetrahedral reference element. This ensures numerical accuracy and stability for arbitrary high-order interpolation. We also generate non-equidistant GLL spectral interpolation nodes for tetrahedral elements through Warp&Blend transformation, enabling direct nodal numerical integration calculation through Vandermonde matrices. This approach replaces the classical Gaussian quadrature in the FEM, not only significantly enhancing the computational efficiency of element matrix but also avoiding potential numerical dissipation and dispersion associated with Gaussian integration, thus achieving rapid convergence. In the TSEM thermo-mechanical coupling, we further construct a separate solver based on the implicit Newmark-β method, which realizes unconditional stability for temporal integration for arbitrary time step increment. Moreover, it supports independent inversion of system matrices for temperature and stress fields, without increasing computational resource consumption due to the coupling of multi-physics equations. By quantitatively comparing with the COMSOL Multiphysics software, several typical case studies are used to demonstrate the significant advantages of the TSEM in numerical accuracy, efficiency, and stability. © 2025 IEEE.
