In this work, we propose a no-reference image quality evaluation approach, aiming to solve the problem that the traditional convolutional neural network is insufficient to express the global information of the image. Therefore, in order to make the captured image features have the coherence of global context information, we combine a Transformer structure widely used in NLP (natural language processing) with the traditional CNN to realize the attention mechanism in the human visual perception characteristics. Firstly, the self-attention mechanism of Transformer is used to learn the global representation of the image from the multi-layer features extracted from different levels of CNN. Additionally, to forecast the ultimate image quality score, the global and local attributes are combined. Finally, the proposed algorithm is evaluated on three public datasets commonly used in CSIQ [1], TID2013 [2] and LIVE [3]. Compared with eight traditional no-reference image quality evaluation algorithms and five methods based on deep learning, the proposed algorithm achieves competitive results. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper proposes a virtual element method (VEM) combined with a second-order implicit-explicit scheme based on the scalar auxiliary variable (SAV) method for the incompressible magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) equations. We employ the BDF2 scheme for time discretization and a conservative VEM for spatial discretization, in which the mass conservation in the velocity field is kept by taking advantage of the virtual element method’s adaptability and its divergence-free characteristics. In our scheme, the nonlinear terms are handled explicitly using the SAV method, and the magnetic field is decoupled from the velocity and pressure. This decoupling only requires solving a sequence of linear systems with constant coefficient at each time step. The stability estimate of the fully discrete scheme is developed, demonstrating the scheme is unconditionally stable. Moreover, rigorous error estimates for the velocity and magnetic field are provided. Finally, numerical experiments are presented to verify the valid of theoretical analysis. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

Finding index-1 saddle points is crucial for understanding phase transitions. In this work, we propose a simple yet efficient approach, the spring pair method (SPM), to accurately locate saddle points. Without requiring Hessian information, SPM evolves a single pair of spring-coupled particles on the potential energy surface. By cleverly designing complementary drifting and climbing dynamics based on gradient decomposition, the spring pair converges onto the minimum energy path (MEP) and spontaneously aligns its orientation with the MEP tangent, providing a reliable ascent direction for efficient convergence to saddle points. SPM fundamentally differs from traditional surface walking methods, which rely on the eigenvectors of Hessian that may deviate from the MEP tangent, potentially leading to convergence failure or undesired saddle points. The continuous development of large language models has led to tremendous performance improvement and has made them increasingly more important. More and more researchers are starting to explore the use of these large language models in developing artificial intelligence agents. The goal of this research is to develop a question-answering system based on a multi-agent setup with the open-source large language model Qwen2.5. In this multi-agent setup, the two agents include a student and a teacher where the student solves issues with guidance from the teacher. We evaluate accuracy difference between a single-agent and a multi-agent setup with the Chinese evaluation data, C-Eval. This is a departure from other approaches like fine-tuning large models or utilizing methods like chain of thought (CoT) and n-shot learning that are tailor-made to improve model performance. Rather, it is a more general approach aimed at further testing the abilities of large language models and thereby improve their logical reasoning capabilities. The experimental results demonstrate a significant improvement in accuracy in multi-agent systems compared to single-agent setup. In particular, improvement in accuracy over various subjects is around 2.5%. In addition, it has been found that improvement is directly proportional to model parameter size; for example, a model with a parameter size of 14 billion has a 22.18% improvement in accuracy for hard cases and reflects a significant improvement in performance.

To address the significant performance degradation of conventional underdetermined blind source separation algorithms for frequency-hopping (FH) signals under time-frequency (TF) overlapping conditions, this paper presents a novel three-stage scheme based on the TF distribution of FH signals. In the first stage, key parameters of the FH signal are estimated using a TF binary graph. In the second step, the initial mixing matrix is estimated for non-overlapping and overlapping carrier frequencies employing density peaks clustering and tensor decomposition methods, respectively. In the third step, the final mixing matrix, directions of arrival (DOA), and source signals are estimated using the expectation-maximization algorithm within the nonnegative matrix factorization model. Finally, different segments of the FH signals are spliced together based on the DOAs of different source signals. Comprehensive experimental results demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed algorithm compared to state-of-the-art algorithms. Even at a signal-to-noise ratio of 5 dB, the correlation coefficient of the estimated source signals can still reach 0.91. © 2023, CC BY.

In this Letter, we demonstrate high-precision end-to-end adaptive optics (AO) technique based on the X-Shape Fusion Transformer-convolutional neural network (XFTC-Net) without an additional probe path to compensate for distortions caused by atmospheric turbulence (AT) in orbital angular momentum (OAM) optical wireless communication links. The experimental results show that the XFTC-Net effectively extracts the intensity distribution features of distorted OAM beams, predicting AT phase screens and identifying OAM modes. After XFTC-Net-aided AO compensation, the bit error rate of the OAM optical communication system remains below 3.8 × 10−3, staying within Cn2 = 1 × 10−15–1 × 10−13 m−2/3. Moreover, the optical power with l= 3 increases from 5.08 dBm to 8.23 dBm at a transmission distance of 800 m. These experimental results indicate that the proposed XFTC-Net AO technique effectively compensates for OAM beam distortion in both single- and multiplexed-channel OAM links, which effectively balances the system complexity and transmission performance of OAM-based free space optical (FSO) communication systems, opening up new avenues for enhancing the performances of high-capacity optical communication. © 2025 Optica Publishing Group. In order to solve the problem that traditional sparse arrays only emphasize high degrees of freedom and ignore low coupling, uniform array fitting method can design arrays with low coupling. However, the existing array coupling based on uniform array fitting method still has room for decline, and the value of weight function is not the minimum, so the performance of array DOA estimation needs to be further optimized. Therefore, based on the uniform matrix fitting method, a uniform matrix fitting 6-base-layer array is designed. By extending the spacing of each subarray of the uniform subarray in the base layer, the number of small array element spacing pairs in the differential cooperative array is reduced, and the coupling between the elements of the whole sparse array is reduced as a whole. The performance of DOA estimation of the designed array is simulated and analyzed by using spatial smoothing multiple signal classification algorithm.

Knowledge graph embeddings (KGE) have been validated as powerful methods for inferring missing links in knowledge graphs (KGs) that they typically map entities into Euclidean space and treat relations as transformations of entities. Recently, some Euclidean KGE methods have been enhanced to model semantic hierarchies commonly found in KGs, improving the performance of link prediction. To embed hierarchical data, hyperbolic space has emerged as a promising alternative to traditional Euclidean space, offering high fidelity and lower memory consumption. Unlike Euclidean, hyperbolic space provides countless curvatures to choose from. However, it is difficult for existing hyperbolic KGE methods to obtain the optimal curvature settings manually, thereby limiting their ability to effectively model semantic hierarchies. To address this limitation, we propose a novel KGE model called Hyperbolic Hierarchical KGE (HypHKGE). This model introduces attention-based learnable curvatures for hyperbolic space, which helps preserve rich semantic hierarchies. Furthermore, to utilize the preserved hierarchies for inferring missing links, we define hyperbolic hierarchical transformations based on the theory of hyperbolic geometry, including both inter-level and intra-level modeling. Experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed HypHKGE model on the three benchmark datasets (WN18RR, FB15K-237, and YAGO3-10).
