MEFA-Net: A mask enhanced feature aggregation network for polyp segmentation

Accurate polyp segmentation is crucial for early diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer. This is a challenging task for three main reasons: (i) the problem of model overfitting and weak generalization due to the multi-center distribution of data;(ii) the problem of interclass ambiguity caused by motion blur and overexposure to endoscopic light;and (iii) the problem of intraclass inconsistency caused by the variety of morphologies and sizes of the same type of polyps. To address these challenges, we propose a new high-precision polyp segmentation framework, MEFA-Net, which consists of three modules, including the plug-and-play Mask Enhancement Module (MEG), Separable Path Attention Enhancement Module (SPAE), and Dynamic Global Attention Pool Module (DGAP). Specifically, firstly, the MEG module regionally masks the high-energy regions of the environment and polyps through a mask, which guides the model to rely on only a small amount of information to distinguish between polyps and background features, avoiding the model from overfitting the environmental information, and improving the robustness of the model. At the same time, this module can effectively counteract the "dark corner phenomenon" in the dataset and further improve the generalization performance of the model. Next, the SPAE module can effectively alleviate the inter-class fuzzy problem by strengthening the feature expression. Then, the DGAP module solves the intra-class inconsistency problem by extracting the invariance of scale, shape and position. Finally, we propose a new evaluation metric, MultiColoScore, for comprehensively evaluating the segmentation performance of the model on five datasets with different domains. We evaluated the new method quantitatively and qualitatively on five datasets using four metrics. Experimental results show that MEFA-Net significantly improves the accuracy of polyp segmentation and outperforms current state-of-the-art algorithms. Code posted on https://***/

Dynamic Neural Radiance Field From Defocused Monocular Video

Dynamic Neural Radiance Field (NeRF) from monocular videos has recently been explored for space-time novel view synthesis and achieved excellent results. However, defocus blur caused by depth variation often occurs in video capture, compromising the quality of dynamic reconstruction because the lack of sharp details interferes with modeling temporal consistency between input views. To tackle this issue, we propose D2RF, the first dynamic NeRF method designed to restore sharp novel views from defocused monocular videos. We introduce layered Depth-of-Field (DoF) volume rendering to model the defocus blur and reconstruct a sharp NeRF supervised by defocused views. The blur model is inspired by the connection between DoF rendering and volume rendering. The opacity in volume rendering aligns with the layer visibility in DoF rendering. To execute the blurring, we modify the layered blur kernel to the ray-based kernel and employ an optimized sparse kernel to gather the input rays efficiently and render the optimized rays with our layered DoF volume rendering. We synthesize a dataset with defocused dynamic scenes for our task, and extensive experiments on our dataset show that our method outperforms existing approaches in synthesizing all-in-focus novel views from defocus blur while maintaining spatial-temporal consistency in the scene. Preserving details and avoiding high computational costs are the two main challenges for the High-Resolution Salient Object Detection (HRSOD) task. In this paper, we propose a two-stage HRSOD model from the perspective of evolution and succession, including an evolution stage with Low-resolution Location Model (LrLM) and a succession stage with High-resolution Refinement Model (HrRM). The evolution stage achieves detail-preserving salient objects localization on the low-resolution image through the evolution mechanisms on supervision and feature;the succession stage utilizes the shallow high-resolution features to complement and enhance the features inherited from the first stage in a lightweight manner and generate the final high-resolution saliency prediction. Besides, a new metric named Boundary-Detail-aware Mean Absolute Error (MAEBD) is designed to evaluate the ability to detect details in high-resolution scenes. Extensive experiments on five datasets demonstrate that our network achieves superior performance at real-time speed (49 FPS) compared to state-of-the-art methods. The grad-div conforming virtual element method for the quad-div problem in three dimensions

We propose a new stable variational formulation for the quad-div problem in three dimensions and prove its well-posedness. Using this weak form, we develop and analyze the H(grad-div)-conforming virtual element method of arbitrary approximation orders on polyhedral meshes. Three families of H(grad-div)conforming virtual elements are constructed based on the structure of a de Rham sub-complex with enhanced smoothness, resulting in an exact discrete virtual element complex. In the lowest-order case, the simplest element has only one degree of freedom at each vertex and face, respectively. We rigorously prove the interpolation error estimates, the stability of discrete bilinear forms, the well-posedness of discrete formulation and the optimal error estimates. Knowledge tracing (KT) is a crucial task in online learning, aimed at tracing and predicting each student's knowledge states throughout their learning process. Over the past decade, it has garnered widespread attention due to it provides the potential for more tailored and adaptive online learning experiences. Although most current KT methodologies emphasize optimizing network structures to enhance predictive accuracy for future student performance, they often neglect anomalous interactions in students' learning processes, which may arise from low data quality (i.e., inferior question quality) and abnormal student behaviors (i.e., guessing and mistakes). To this end, in this paper, we propose a novel framework, termed HD-KT, designed to enhance the robustness of existing KT methodologies with Hybrid learning interactions Denoising approach. Specifically, we introduce two detectors for anomalous learning interactions, namely knowledge state-guided anomaly detector and student profile-guided anomaly detector. In the first detection module, we design a sequential autoencoder to identify anomalous learning interactions by detecting atypical student knowledge states. In the second module, we incorporate an attention mechanism by modeling a student's long-term profile to capture irregular interactions. Extensive experiments on four real-world benchmark datasets have decisively shown our HD-KT markedly boosts the robustness of numerous prevailing KT models, consequently increasing the accuracy of future student performance predictions. Additionally, our case studies highlight the versatility of HD-KT in addressing diverse downstream tasks, such as exercise quality analysis and learning behavior-based student clustering. © 2024 ACM.

In this paper, a planar inverted F antenna is designed for indoor distributed micro-base station of 5G communication. The overall size of the antenna is 16 mm × 15.3 mm × 10 mm, and the antenna works in the 3.5 - 3.6 GHz, which band number named n78. The antenna has the advantages of miniaturization, easy machining and convenient installation. The simulation results of ANSYS HFSS 2020 shows that in the working bandwidth range, when the central frequency of the designed antenna is 3.55 GHz, the S11 is -23.6 dB, and the VSWR is 1.1, which meets the requirements of impedance matching. In terms of directivity, the antenna coverage also meets the requirements of 5G micro-base station. © 2021 IEEE.

In this letter, an ultra-broadband rectifier with expanded dynamic input power range (IPR) for both wireless power transfer (WPT) and radio frequency energy-harvesting (RFEH) is proposed and analyzed. Expanded dynamic IPR and broadband impedance matching are realized by utilizing a microstrip transmission line impedance compression circuit (MTLICC) with the topology of the paralleled voltage doubler. A proof-of-concept prototype shows a dynamic IPR of 8.5–23.5 dBm, a frequency range of 0.33–2.61 GHz (fractional bandwidth of 155%), PCE is greater than 50%, and a peak PEC of 79.7% (achieved at an input-power level of 19 dBm). The measurement results are in good agreement with the simulation. Covering most 3G/4G/5G/ISM frequency bands, this design is promising for RF power transmission and energy harvesting in the age of the Internet of Things systems. © 2023, CC BY.

In this paper, a RIS-assisted multiuser MIMO communication method based on deep reinforcement learning (RMMC-DRL) is proposed for multiuser scenarios. Our objective is to find the optimal transmit beamforming matrix of BS and optimal phase shift matrix of reflective intelligent surface (RIS) to maximize the sum rate of multiuser, this problem is reduced into a constrained optimization problem. It is a non-convex optimization problem, so we solve it through deep reinforcement learning (DRL) and then use the results for communication. In the DRL, a deep deterministic policy gradient (DDPG) framework that can handle continuous states and actions is designed, reward is set as optimization goal, and the transmit beamforming matrix and the phase shift matrix of RIS are obtained through the interaction with environment. Unlike the alternating optimization (AO) method, which solve the transmit beamforming matrix and the RIS phase shift matrix alternatively, the RMMC-DRL can obtain both transmit beamforming matrix and RIS phase shift matrix simultaneously as the output of DRL. Simulation results show that RMMC-DRL can learn and improve its behavior by interacting with the environment. Compared with AO method, RMMC-DRL can obtain higher sum rate and lower computational complexity.

The study of electromagnetic scattering from Gaussian rough surface is of great significance in radar reconnaissance, target tracking and ocean remote sensing. The moment method (MOM) is a commonly used method with high accuracy. However, in the past research, Monte Carlo method is used to simulate the Gaussian rough surface. In this method, a large number of random simulation operations are carried out, and then a statistical convergence result is obtained by counting the results of all operations. In this paper, the stochastic integral equation method SIEM(Stochastic Integral Equation Method) is proposed to calculate the electromagnetic scattering of Gaussian rough surface. SIEM avoids the difficulty of high difficulty precise modeling and repeated calculation many times, and only single modeling and calculation are carried out for the target problem. In this paper, the electromagnetic scattering of two-dimensional cylinder with Gaussian rough surface is solved, and the effectiveness of SIEM is proved by comparing with mom. © 2020 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

A unified affine-projection-like adaptive (UAPLA) algorithm is deivised and verified for system identification. The UAPLA algorithm uses a generalized cost function encompassing some data-reusing methods to cope with colored input signals. Furthermore, the UAPLA algorithm is derived based on the new cost function to generalize multiple affine-projection algorithms. As a result, the proposed UAPLA algorithm includes some classical adaptive filters as exceptional cases while allowing flexibility to achieve low estimation errors under impulsive noises. The obtained results conducted by simulations help to corroborate the superiority of the proposed UAPLA algorithm over other popular AP algorithms. © 2023, CC BY.
