The sparse interactions between users and items have aggravated the difficulty of their representations in recommender systems. Existing methods leverage tags to alleviate the sparsity problem but ignore prevalent logical relations among items and tags (e.g., membership, hierarchy, and exclusion), which can be leveraged to enhance the accuracy of modeling user preferences and conducting recommendations. To this end, we propose to extract logical relations among item tags from existing tag taxonomies and exploit the individual strengths of the Poincaré and the Lorentz models in hyperbolic space for logical relation modeling towards enhanced recommendations. Moreover, we find that the logical relations directly extracted from existing tag taxonomies can be inaccurate and coarse. Therefore, we further devise innovative consistency-based and granularity-based weighting mechanisms based on user behavior patterns for data-driven logical relation mining that can be jointly optimized along with recommendations in an end-to-end fashion. Extensive experiments on four real-world benchmark datasets show drastic performance gains brought by our proposed framework, which constantly achieves an average of 8.25% improvement over state-of-the-art competitors regarding both Recall and NDCG metrics. Insightful case studies further demonstrate that our automatically refined logical relations are highly accurate and interpretable. © 2024 IEEE.

OpenViewer: Openness-Aware Multi-View Learning

Multi-view learning methods leverage multiple data sources to enhance perception by mining correlations across views, typically relying on predefined categories. However, deploying these models in real-world scenarios presents two primary openness challenges. 1) Lack of Interpretability: The integration mechanisms of multi-view data in existing black-box models remain poorly explained;2) Insufficient Generalization: Most models are not adapted to multi-view scenarios involving unknown categories. To address these challenges, we propose OpenViewer, an openness-aware multi-view learning framework with theoretical support. This framework begins with a Pseudo-Unknown Sample Generation Mechanism to efficiently simulate open multi-view environments and previously adapt to potential unknown samples. Subsequently, we introduce an Expression-Enhanced Deep Unfolding Network to intuitively promote interpretability by systematically constructing functional prior-mapping modules and effectively providing a more transparent integration mechanism for multi-view data. Additionally, we establish a Perception-Augmented Open-Set Training Regime to significantly enhance generalization by precisely boosting confidences for known categories and carefully suppressing inappropriate confidences for unknown ones. Experimental results demonstrate that OpenViewer effectively addresses openness challenges while ensuring recognition performance for both known and unknown samples. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. Studies have shown that the expansion of the lateral ventricle is closely related to many neurodegenerative diseases, so the segmentation of the lateral ventricle plays an important role in the diagnosis of related diseases. However, traditional segmentation methods are subjective, laborious, and time-consuming. Furthermore, due to the uneven magnetic field, irregular, small, and discontinuous shape of every single slice, the segmentation of the lateral ventricle is still a great challenge. In this paper, we propose an efficient and automatic lateral ventricle segmentation method in magnetic resonance (MR) images using a multi-scale feature fusion convolutional neural network (MFF-Net). First, we create a multi-center clinical dataset with a total of 117 patient MR scans. This dataset comes from two different hospitals and the images have different sampling intervals, different ages, and distinct image dimensions. Second, we present a new multi-scale feature fusion module (MSM) to capture different levels of feature information of lateral ventricles through various receptive fields. In particular, MSM can also extract the multi-scale lateral ventricle region feature information to solve the problem of insufficient feature extraction of small object regions with the deepening of network structure. Finally, extensive experiments have been conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed MFF-Net. In addition, to verify the performance of the proposed method, we compare MFF-Net with seven state-of-the-art segmentation models. Both quantitative results and visual effects show that our MFF-Net outperforms other models and can achieve more accurate segmentation performance. The results also indicate that our model can be applied in clinical practice and is a feasible method for lateral ventricle segmentation. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

This paper introduced a dual-layer broadband high-gain circularly polarized (CP) antenna. The proposed broadband CP antenna consists of the radiating patch and couping structure, which is made up of opening slot patch and L-shaped stub. An axial-ratio bandwidth of 26 % (4.36-5.66 GHz) is shown by this proposed dual-layer CP patch antenna with a simulated -10-dB reflection coefficient bandwidth of 37 % (4.23-6.15 GHz). The broadband characteristics offered by this CP antenna are promising for a wide range of future applications.

This paper focuses on solving the capacitated arc routing problem with time-dependent service costs (CARPTDSC), which is motivated by winter gritting applications. Importantly, existing literature often ignores the characteristic information contained in the relationship between the route cost and the vehicle departure time. The most significant innovation in this paper lies in the exploitation of this characteristic information during the vehicle departure time optimization stage. Specifically, we conduct a detailed analysis of this relationship under various scenarios and employ tailored methods to obtain the (approximately) optimal vehicle departure time. Furthermore, we propose an improved initialization strategy that considers time-dependent characteristics to achieve better solution quality. In addition to the modified benchmark test sets, we also experiment on a real-world test set. Experimental results demonstrate that MAENS-GN can obtain high-quality solutions on both small-scale and larger-scale instances of CARPTDSC. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Recently, uniform linear array (ULA) fitting (UF) principle is proposed for sparse array (SA) design using pseudo-polynomial equations. Typically, it is verified that the designed SAs via UF enjoy a lower bound on uniform degrees of freedom (uDOF), which is approximately 0.5N2 with N sensors. Herein, an improved UF (IUF) scheme is proposed to significantly increase the lower bound on uDOF, which is realized by introducing two sub-ULAs, with name of adjoint transfer arrays (ATAs), on both sides of a transfer sub-ULA. The ATAs together with the transfer sub-ULA serve as a new layer to construct an adjoint transfer layer (ATL) that has improved aperture in comparison with traditional transfer layer to improve the lower bound on uDOF, which is derived in detail. Furthermore, two novel SAs are developed based on the ATL to verify the effectiveness of the proposed IUF scheme to increase the uDOF. Multiphysics simulation aims to predict and understand interactions between multiple physical phenomena, aiding in comprehending natural processes and guiding engineering design. The system of Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) is crucial for representing these physical fields, and solving these PDEs is fundamental to such simulations. However, current methods primarily yield numerical outputs, limiting interpretability and generalizability. We introduce T-NNGP, a hybrid genetic programming algorithm that integrates traditional numerical methods with deep learning to derive approximate symbolic expressions for multiple unknown functions within a system of PDEs. T-NNGP initially obtains numerical solutions using traditional methods, then generates candidate symbolic expressions via deep reinforcement learning, and finally optimizes these expressions using genetic programming. Furthermore, a universal decoupling strategy guides the search direction and addresses coupling problems, thereby accelerating the search process. Experimental results on three types of PDEs demonstrate that our method can reliably obtain human-understandable symbolic expressions that fit both the PDEs and the numerical solutions from traditional methods. This work advances multiphysics simulation by enhancing our ability to derive approximate symbolic solutions for PDEs, thereby improving our understanding of complex physical phenomena. Compact Broadband Rectifier With Wide Input Power Range Based on Adaptive Input Power Distribution

This paper presents a novel compact rectifier array with both broadband and wide input power range characteristics. The rectifier array consists of two rectifier units operating at low-power and high-power levels, respectively, and an adaptive input power distribution network (AIPDN) enabling automatic distribution of radio frequency (RF) energy at different power levels. In addition, a matching inductance is introduced to counteract the capacitance of the diode. As a result, the high RF-DC power conversion efficiency (PCE) is achieved in both broadband and wide input power range. For demonstration, a prototype of the presented rectifier array is fabricated and measured. The measured results are in good accordance with the simulated results. With an input power range of 8 – 25 dBm and a bandwidth of 1.82 – 2.75 GHz (fractional bandwidth of 40.7%), the PCE is greater than 50%. At 2.4 GHz, the input power ranges from -5.5 to 27.5 dBm with PCE greater than 50%. Besides, a peak PCE of 72.1% is obtained at an input power of 25 dBm.
