With dense inputs, Neural Radiance Fields (NeRF) is able to render photo-realistic novel views under static conditions. Although the synthesis quality is excellent, existing NeRF-based methods fail to obtain moderate three-dimensional (3D) structures. The novel view synthesis quality drops dramatically given sparse input due to the implicitly reconstructed inaccurate 3D-scene structure. We propose SfMNeRF, a method to better synthesize novel views as well as reconstruct the 3D-scene geometry. SfMNeRF leverages the knowledge from the self-supervised depth estimation methods to constrain the 3D-scene geometry during view synthesis training. Specifically, SfMNeRF employs the epipolar, photometric consistency, depth smoothness, and position-of-matches constraints to explicitly reconstruct the 3D-scene structure. Through these explicit constraints and the implicit constraint from NeRF, our method improves the view synthesis as well as the 3D-scene geometry performance of NeRF at the same time. In addition, SfMNeRF synthesizes novel sub-pixels in which the ground truth is obtained by image interpolation. This strategy enables SfMNeRF to include more samples to improve generalization performance. Experiments on three public datasets demonstrate that SfMNeRF surpasses state-of-the-art approaches given the spare inputs. Code is available at https://***/XTU-PR-LAB/SfMNeRF. Privacy-Preserving Push-Pull Method for Decentralized Optimization via State Decomposition

Distributed optimization is manifesting great potential in multiple fields, e.g., machine learning, control, and resource allocation. Existing decentralized optimization algorithms require sharing explicit state information among the agents, which raises the risk of private information leakage. To ensure privacy security, combining information security mechanisms, such as differential privacy and homomorphic encryption, with traditional decentralized optimization algorithms is a commonly used means. However, this would either sacrifice optimization accuracy or incur heavy computational burden. To overcome these shortcomings, we develop a novel privacy-preserving decentralized optimization algorithm, called PPSD, that combines gradient tracking with a state decomposition mechanism. Specifically, each agent decomposes its state associated with the gradient into two substates. One substate is used for interaction with neighboring agents, and the other substate containing private information acts only on the first substate and thus is entirely agnostic to other agents. For the strongly convex and smooth objective functions, PPSD attains a R-linear convergence rate. Moreover, the algorithm can preserve the agents’ private information from being leaked to honest-but-curious neighbors. Simulations further confirm the results. © 2023, CC BY.

A compact dual polarization dipole antenna for the application to 5G base station is investigated, which is composed of radiator, baluns, and metal reflector, having an impendence bandwidth of 23.6% with VSWR<1.5. The dual-polarized antenna has a high ports isolation, high cross-polarization and high gain in operating bandwidth. The results indicate that this work can operate in entire N78 band and provide potential application for 5G base station.

This paper introduces the application of unconditionally stable locally one-dimensional finite-difference time-domain(LOD-FDTD) method to 3D multi-pole Debye dispersive media model. Compared with other methods for dispersive media, the Z-transform method does not need to retain the electromagnetic values of the previous moments, has less memory footprint, and its numerical implementation is more straightforward. Through numerical examples, ZT-LOD-FDTD shows the advantages of accuracy and high computational efficiency.

We presents a squared sine functioned adaptive (SSA) algorithm for acoustic-echo-cancellation (AEC) applications in-presence-of impulsive noise. In the development of the SSA algorithm, a novel cost function is constructed by exerting a sliding window type squared sine function on the estimation error vector, which provides robustness in the impulsive-noise environments and speed-ups convergence when the input is colored signals. Theoretical models for predicting the mean-weight-behavior, transient excess-mean-square-error (EMSE) behavior, and tracking behavior are presented. Moreover, the optimal step size and minimum EMSE of the tracking performance are provided. The computation complexity of SSA algorithm has also been investigated. Numerical experiments demonstrate that the theoretical results match well with simulation results and show the superiority of the proposed SSA algorithm against known algorithms in AEC applications. © 2023, CC BY.

A robust C0-continuous nonconforming virtual element method (VEM) is developed for a boundary value problem arising from strain gradient elasticity in two dimensions, with the family of polygonal meshes satisfying a very general geometric assumption given in Brezzi et al. (2009) and Chen and Huang (2018). The stability condition of the VEMs is derived by establishing Korn-type inequalities and inverse inequalities. Some crucial commutative relations for locking-free analysis as in elastic problems are derived. Cross-Modality Perturbation Synergy Attack for Person Re-identification

In recent years, there has been significant research focusing on addressing security concerns in single-modal person re-identification (ReID) systems that are based on RGB images. However, the safety of cross-modality scenarios, which are more commonly encountered in practical applications involving images captured by infrared cameras, has not received adequate attention. The main challenge in cross-modality ReID lies in effectively dealing with visual differences between different modalities. For instance, infrared images are typically grayscale, unlike visible images that contain color information. Existing attack methods have primarily focused on the characteristics of the visible image modality, overlooking the features of other modalities and the variations in data distribution among different modalities. This oversight can potentially undermine the effectiveness of these methods in image retrieval across diverse modalities. This study represents the first exploration into the security of cross-modality ReID models and proposes a universal perturbation attack specifically designed for cross-modality ReID. This attack optimizes perturbations by leveraging gradients from diverse modality data, thereby disrupting the discriminator and reinforcing the differences between modalities. We conducted experiments on three widely used cross-modality datasets, namely RegDB, SYSU, and LLCM. The results not only demonstrate the effectiveness of our method but also provide insights for future improvements in the robustness of cross-modality ReID systems. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

Deformable image registration is crucial in medical image analysis. Recently, unsupervised methods using intensity matching have shown promising results without labeled data. However, these methods still face challenges: (1) They often encounter local optima when handling anatomical structures with significant variations in intensity distribution;(2) Time domain convolution in decoders leads to loss of high-frequency fine features, limiting the effectiveness of generating fine deformation vector fields. To address these issues, we propose a novel structure-aware and time-frequency domain interaction (STFI) network. STFI integrates a structure-aware frequency domain loss and a time-frequency domain interaction module. The former leverages principal structural information from the weighted phase spectrum to guide the registration process, thereby reducing the risk of local optima. The latter processes and amalgamates information from both the time and frequency domains, effectively preserving high-frequency details. The efficacy and adaptability of our approach have been demonstrated on two types of data, offering a new perspective on exploiting time-frequency domain information for medical image registration. © 2025, The Authors. Capacitive Flexible Three-Axis Force Tactile Sensor Based on Porous Composite Dielectric Layer for Dexterous Robotic Manipulation

Flexible tactile sensors that can detect both normal and tangential forces with good flexibility, high sensitivity, wide detection range and rapid dynamic response are imminently needed for electronic skin (e-skin). Thus, we innovatively demonstrated a flexible capacitive three-axis tactile sensor with satisfactory flexibility, high sensitivity (0.693 N -1 at 0-5 N and 0.483 N -1 at 5-14 N for normal force, as well as 0.551 N -1 at 0-2 N and 0.481 N -1 at 2-6 N for tangential force), fast response time (30 ms) and a low hysteresis (6.8%), which was fabricated by combining advanced sensor structure with porous composite dielectric layer in a simple and low-cost three-dimensional (3D) printing method and layer-by-layer (LBL) self-assembly method. The working principle and sensing characteristics of the sensor were elaborated by establishing the theoretical mechanism, and further simulation verification was carried out by the finite element modeling (FEM). Our sensor was employed in soft manipulator grasping and gamepad rotation, suggestive of the application potential of the three-axis force tactile sensor as flexible e-skin in the field of tactile sensing. Our work may pave a way to softness haptic perception strategy, which could be widely utilized in e-skin, soft robot, dexterous robotic manipulation, and intelligent prosthesis. © 2022, The Authors. We present a no-reference image-quality - assessment algorithm based on active reasoning module. This algorithm has three modules: the feature extraction module, the active reasoning module, and the quality assessment module. The active reasoning module incorporates the generator component of the generative adversarial network and enhances its structure with the Res2Net architecture. By integrating this module into the backbone feature extraction network, we improve the receptive field of each convolutional layer, enabling the network to capture information at different scales of the image. To preserve the texture information of the image, we input the gradient map of the distorted image, the distorted image itself, and the image features generated by the generator into the quality assessment module, which has a multi-feature regression networks. This module establishes a mapping model from image-feature to image-quality scores. We conducted experimental analysis of this algorithm on three widely used public datasets, confirming the excellent performance and superiorities of the presented algorithm. The results validate the effectiveness of the designed algorithm and its ability to assess image quality accurately.
