As a promising method of central model training on decentralized device data while securing user privacy, Federated Learning (FL) is becoming popular in Internet of Things (IoT) design. However, when the data collected by IoT devices are highly skewed in a non-independent and identically distributed (non-IID) manner, the accuracy of vanilla FL method cannot be guaranteed. Although there exist various solutions that try to address the bottleneck of FL with non-IID data, most of them suffer from extra intolerable communication overhead and low model accuracy. To enable fast and accurate FL, this paper proposes a novel data-based device grouping approach that can effectively reduce the disadvantages of weight divergence during the training of non-IID data. However, since our grouping method is based on the similarity of extracted feature maps from IoT devices, it may incur additional risks of privacy exposure. To solve this problem, we propose an improved version by exploiting similarity information using the Locality-Sensitive Hashing (LSH) algorithm without exposing extracted feature maps. comprehensive experimental results on well-known benchmarks show that our approach can not only accelerate the convergence rate, but also improve the prediction accuracy for FL with non-IID data. copyright © 2022, The Authors. The traditional template matching methods are very time-consuming and cannot deal with the problems of rotation, scaling, and multi objects matching at the same time. In this paper, we propose a two-stage fast and robust template matching method based on ring projection transformation and pseudo-Zernike moments, which can be used in automatic optical inspection. In the first stage, we use dynamic time warping to estimate the scaling factors and obtain the preliminary candidates according to the extracted ring projection vectors. And then the candidates of the multi objects are obtained by non-maximum suppression. In the second stage, the fine matching process based on pseudo-Zernike moments is performed. Besides, we apply the image pyramid search strategy to improve the computational efficiency. The rotation angle is estimated by the improved ring-shifted method. The experimental results show that the mean errors of rotation, scaling, and translation for the image with or without noise or illumination changes are less than 0.2412°, 0.0037, and 1.0826 pixels, respectively. compared with the conventional search method, the image pyramid search strategy increases the computational efficiency by 50 times. The experiments of robustness demonstrate that the template matching method we proposed can still obtain high accuracy even in the case of noise or illumination changes. In addition, it can be used for multi objects detection.

In order to make the software trustworthiness measures more rigorous, we once applied axiomatic approaches to measure software trustworthiness, and established a software trustworthiness measure based on the decomposition of attributes (STMBDA for short). For the sake of validating the effectiveness of STMBDA, in this paper we use it to assess the trustworthiness of 23 spacecraft softwares whose total code is about 300,000 lines. The validation result shows that STMBDA can effectively evaluate the trustworthiness of the spacecraft softwares and identify the weak links in the development process.

The privacy of Cryptocurrencies are of great concern in various fields. researches has shown that pseudonyms, which are used in Bitcoin, only provide weak privacy. The privacy of users may be put at risk under deanonymization attacks. The exisiting schemes typically require a trusted-third party to achieve anonymity, however this usually faces a single-point fault. In addition, existing schemes suffer from high communication complexity and impracticality. This paper proposes a practical privacy-preserving mixing protocol for Bitcoin to achieve unlink-ability of input and output address of transactions. compared to existing schemes, our protocol improves practicality. The communication complexity of our protocol is linearly related to the number of peers. Moreover, our protocol is scalable as it works not only for Bitcoin, but also for other cryptocurrencies.

software trustworthiness evaluation results can provide guidance for existing software development. Therefore, it is of great significance to study software trustworthiness evaluation. Weights and the relationship of trustworthy attributes have a huge effect on the results of software trustworthiness evaluation. However, few studies have considered weights and the quantitative relationship among trustworthy attributes at the same time. Structural equation modeling (SEM) provides a more scientific and reasonable method to obtain weights, where the objectification of subjective weights is guaranteed. In this paper, we propose a SEM-based method to evaluate software trustworthiness. Firstly, we establish the trustworthy evaluation indicator system for software. Based on the survey data, we construct the SEM for software trustworthiness evaluation to obtain the weights of trustworthy attributes and the relationship among them. Lastly, we apply the trustworthy measurement model to calculate the trustworthiness value of software to be surveyed. These trustworthiness values demonstrate the reasonability of our method. © 2019 Totem Publisher, Inc. All rights reserved.

SURF (Speeded up robust features) detection is used extensively in object detection, tracking and matching. However, due to its high complexity, it is usually a challenge to perform such detection in real time on a general-purpose processor. This paper proposes a parallel computing algorithm for the fast computation of SURF, which is specially designed for FPGAs. By efficiently exploiting the advantages of the architecture of an FPGA, and by appropriately handling the inherent parallelism of the SURF computation, the proposed algorithm is able to significantly reduce the computation time. Our experimental results show that, for an image with a resolution of 640x480, the processing time for computing using SURF is only 0.047 seconds on an FPGA (XC6SLX150T, 66.7 MHz), which is 13 times faster than when performed on a typical i3-3240 CPU (with a 3.4 GHz main frequency) and 249 times faster than when performed on a traditional ARM system (cortexTM-A8, 1 GHz).

Robots' continuous physical behaviors are controlled by discrete instructions generated using complicated control algorithms. In such a robotic hybrid system, guaranteeing robot's navigation safety can be more challenging than those discrete controls alone or only the continuous robot motions. For a robotic system operating in the real world, navigation safety is critical in order to avoid potential harm for robots or their surrounding environment. We present safety guarantee and obstacle avoidance control algorithms for mobile ground robots modeled by hybrid programs. Using the verification tool KeYmaera, we formally verify that our algorithms satisfy passive or passive friendly safety properties in an environment consisting of stationary/dynamic obstacles. These algorithms allow us to check the navigation safety at the design stage of a robotic system.

Hybrid SSDs that integrate both large-capacity flash and high-performance flash have become the mainstream of the existing SSD architectures. Two or more flash modes have been supported to satisfy the complex and changeable application requirements, such as single-level-cell (SLC) mode and quad-level-cell (QLC) mode, which can be adaptively switched. However, our empirical studies show that the combination is not well-designed in existing hybrid architectures. We conduct experiments on different scenarios to study the performance and reliability of real hybrid SSDs. Three interesting findings about performance collapse, performance fluctuation, and read disturb of QLC region can be obtained. To solve these problems, this paper proposed HyFlex, including three novel schemes. First, a velocity-based I/O scheduling (VIS) scheme is a novel data placement scheme to avoid performance corrupt. Second, a garbage collection aware capacity tuning (GCT) scheme is a novel flash-mode management scheme to avoid burst performance degradation. Third, a read disturb-aware data migration (DAM) scheme is a novel data migration scheme to alleviate the read disturb of the QLC region. The experiments are conducted on an existing simulator with hybrid SSD extensions. Experimental results show that HyFlex achieves encouraging performance and reliability optimization. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Children's emotions expression concentrates in the acoustic aspects such as the tones and timbres of the voice instead of the semantics, and there are a lot of lengthy fragments in their speech. This paper proposes an emotion recognition model using the time series deep learning technology, named attention based Bi-directional Long Short-Term Memory (CNN-BiLSTM) to extract the emotional features. After preprocessing the speech signal, the forty-dimensional Mel Frequency Cepstral coefficients (MFCC) related parameters are extracted, including the dynamic and static features. And these frequency domain features are enhanced by convolutional neural networks (CNNs) as the emotional features of children's speech recognition. BiLSTM is used to solve the problem of poor performance of long-term dependent learning features, and attention mechanism is used for only a few frames contain emotional features in the children speech signal. compared with the related speech emotion recognition models such as LSTM-CNN and 2D-CNN-LSTM, our proposed speech emotion recognition model improves the accuracy up to 71.6% on the FAU-AIBO children's speech emotion database.

When an autonomous mobile robot exploring in an unstructured environment, it may often enter a wall-corner, but be stuck there. We present a wall-corner collision detection and avoidance algorithm using depth images. We first determine if a mobile robot is trapped in a wall-corner using historic alternate turnings. Then we propose a geometric approach to let the robot escape a corner. We demonstrate the efficiency of our algorithm using simulations and experimental tests. Using our algorithm, a robot can quickly detect and escape wall-corners. Moreover, we extend our algorithm to handle a very challenging scenario, Z-shaped Zigzag paths.
