Objective image quality measure, which is a fundamental and challenging job in image processing, evaluates the image quality consistently with human perception automatically. On the assumption that any image distortion could be modeled as the difference between the directional projection-based maps of reference and distortion images, we propose a new objective quality assessment method based on directional projection for full reference model. Experimental results show that the proposed metrics are well consistent with the subjective quality score.

For large sparse non-Hermitian positive definite system of linear equations, we present several variants of the Hermitian and skew-Hermitian splitting (HSS) about the coefficient matrix and establish correspondingly several HSS-based iterative schemes. Theoretical analyses show that these methods are convergent unconditionally to the exact solution of the referred system of linear equations, and they may show advantages on problems that the HSS method is ineffective.

The rapid growth of the Internet has brought about the dramatic accumulation of data and the increasing possibility of information sharing. As the population on the Web grows, the analysis of user interests and behaviors will provide hints on how to improve the quality of service, such as recommendation systems. In this paper, we proposed a topic level user interest model based on the Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) model, and an online supervised learning approach-Bayesian Online Perception is applied to construct and update the user interest model quickly and accurately. When recommending web pages to a certain user, both content-base and collaborative-based recommendation are performed based on our proposed user interest model. The experimental results showed that our approach was more effective than the other typical approaches to construct user interest model.

In this paper, a user relationship model is proposed according to social network theory. Sub-group information and personal characters of users such as quantities of liveness, agency-level and reputation have been computed. The proposed user relationship model is applied to mine the structure of BBS virtual community. Experimental results on real BBS site demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed model.

This paper presents a crawler system focused on the Web 2.0 sites. It can collect pages rapidly and update more effectively. This approach improved the traditional focused crawler technology. First we apply link analysis technology to help the crawler to traverse the website quickly. Then we introduce an algorithm called Hot-Rank for evaluating popularity of webpage based on user's actions such as clicks and replies on the page in web2.0 sites, following by predicting the next update time for the page dynamically according to the Hot-Rank. Finally, we propose an effective mechanism which can use less bandwidth to keep downloaded pages up-to-date with real pages in the website. By this way we can build a real-time data warehouse for deep web mining and find popular topics and prevalence trends in the network community. Our paper describes this algorithm and gives out its efficiency and improvement by experiments.

A discrete total variation calculus with variable time steps is presented for mechanico-electrical systems where there exist non-potential and dissipative forces. By using this discrete variation calculus, the symplectic-energy-first integrators for mechanico-electrical systems are derived. To do this, the time step adaptation is employed. The discrete variational principle and the Euler-Lagrange equation are derived for the systems. By using this discrete algorithm it is shown that mechanico-electrical systems are not symplectic and their energies are not conserved unless they are Lagrange mechanico-electrical systems. A practical example is presented to illustrate these results.

Starting from the variable separation approach, the algebraic soliton solution and the solution describing the interaction between line soliton and algebraic soliton are obtained by selecting appropriate seed solution for (2+1)-dimensional ANNV equation. The behaviors of interactions are discussed in detail both analytically and graphically. It is shown that there are two kinds of singular interactions between line soliton and algebraic soliton: 1) the resonant interaction where the algebraic soliton propagates together with the line soliton and persists infinitely; 2) the extremely repulsive interaction where the algebraic soliton affects the motion of the line soliton infinitely apart.
