Amorphous multi-element materials offer unprecedented tunability in composition and properties, yet their rational design remains challenging due to the lack of predictive structure-property relationships and the vast configurational space. Traditional modeling struggles to capture the intricate short-range order that dictates their stability and functionality. We here introduce ApolloX, a pioneering predictive framework for amorphous multi-element materials, establishing a new paradigm by integrating physics-informed generative modeling with particle swarm optimization, using chemical short-range order as an explicit constraint. By systematically navigating the disordered energy landscape, ApolloX enables the targeted design of thermodynamically stable amorphous configurations. It accurately predicts atomic-scale arrangements, including composition-driven metal clustering and amorphization trends, which are well-validated by experiments, while also guiding synthesis by leveraging sluggish diffusion to control elemental distribution and disorder. The resulting structural evolution, governed by composition, directly impacts catalytic performance, leading to improved activity and stability with increasing amorphization. This predictive-experimental synergy transforms the discovery of amorphous materials, unlocking new frontiers in catalysis, energy storage, and functional disordered systems. Antigenic cooperation in Viral Populations: Transformation of Functions of Intra-Host Viral Variants

In this paper we study intra-host viral adaptation by antigenic cooperation - a mechanism of immune escape that serves as an alternative to the standard mechanism of escape by continuous genomic diversification and allows to explain a number of experimental observations associated with the establishment of chronic infections by highly mutable viruses. Within this mechanism, the topology of a cross-immunoreactivity network forces intra-host viral variants to specialize for complementary roles and adapt to host's immune response as a quasi-social ecosystem. Here we study dynamical changes in immune adaptation caused by evolutionary and epidemiological events. First, we show that the emergence of a viral variant with altered antigenic features may result in a rapid re-arrangement of the viral ecosystem and a change in the roles played by existing viral variants. In particular, it may push the population under immune escape by genomic diversification towards the stable state of adaptation by antigenic cooperation. Next, we study the effect of a viral transmission between two chronically infected hosts, which results in merging of two intra-host viral populations in the state of stable immune-adapted equilibrium. In this case, we also describe how the newly formed viral population adapts to the host's environment by changing the functions of its members. A Two-stage Reconfiguration in Network Function Virtualization: Toward Service Function Chain Optimization

Network Function Virtualization (NFV), as a promising paradigm, speeds up the service deployment by separating network functions from proprietary devices and deploying them on common servers in the form of software. Any service in NFV-enabled networks is achieved as a Service Function Chain (SFC) which consists of a series of ordered Virtual Network Functions (VNFs). However, migration of VNFs for more flexible services within a dynamic NFV-enabled network is a key challenge to be addressed. Current VNF migration studies mainly focus on single VNF migration decisions without considering the sharing and concurrent migration of VNF instances. In this paper, we assume that each deployed VNF is used by multiple SFCs and deal with the optimal placement for the contemporaneous migration of VNFs based on the actual network situation. We formalize the VNF migration and SFC reconfiguration problem as a mathematical model, which aims to minimize the VNF migration between nodes or the total number of core changes per node. The approach is a two-stage MILP based on optimal order to solve the reconfiguration. Extensive evaluation shows that the proposed approach can reduce the change in terms of location or number of cores per node in a 6-node and 14-node networks while ensuring network latency compared with the model without reconfiguration. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

Detecting QT prolongation From a Single-lead ECG With Deep Learning

Background and Aims For a number of antiarrhythmics, drug loading requires a 3-day hospitalization with monitoring for QT-prolongation. Automated QT monitoring with wearable ECG monitors would facilitate out-of-hospital care. We aim to develop a deep learning model that infers QT intervals from ECG lead-I - the lead most often acquired from ambulatory ECG monitors - and we use this model to detect clinically meaningful QT-prolongation episodes during Dofetilide drug loading. Methods Using 4.22 million 12-lead ECG recordings from 903.6 thousand patients at the Massachusetts General Hospital, we develop a deep learning model, QTNet, that infers QT intervals from lead-I. Over 3 million ECGs from 653 thousand patients are used to train the model and an internal-test set containing 633 thousand ECGs from 135 thousand patients was used for testing. QTNet is further evaluated on an external-validation set containing 3.1 million ECGs from 667 thousand patients at another institution. QTNet was used to detect Dofetilide-induced QT prolongation in a publicly available database (ECGRDVQ-dataset) containing ECGs from subjects enrolled in a clinical trial evaluating the effects of antiarrhythmic drugs. Results QTNet achieves mean absolute errors of 12.63ms (internal-test) and 12.30ms (external-validation) for estimating absolute QT intervals. The associated Pearson correlation coefficients are 0.91 (internal-test) and 0.92 (external-validation). For the ECGRDVQ-dataset, QTNet detects Dofetilide-induced QTc prolongation with 87% sensitivity and 77% specificity. The negative predictive value of the model is greater than 95% when the pre-test probability of drug-induced QTc prolongation is below 25%. Conclusions Drug-induced QT prolongation risk can be tracked from ECG lead-I using deep learning. This research leads the path toward out-of-hospital care using wearable ECG devices for antiarrhythmic therapies. © 2023, CC BY-NC-ND.

Over 150 000 Americans are diagnosed with colorectal cancer (CRC) every year, and annually over 50 000 individuals will die from CRC, necessitating improvements in screening, prognostication, disease management, and therapeutic options. Tumor metastasis is the primary factor related to the risk of recurrence and mortality. Yet, screening for nodal and distant metastasis is costly, and invasive and incomplete resection may hamper adequate assessment. Signatures of the tumor-immune microenvironment (TIME) at the primary site can provide valuable insights into the aggressiveness of the tumor and the effectiveness of various treatment options. Spatially resolved transcriptomics technologies offer an unprecedented characterization of TIME through high multiplexing, yet their scope is constrained by cost. Meanwhile, it has long been suspected that histological, cytological, and macroarchitectural tissue characteristics correlate well with molecular information (e.g., gene expression). Thus, a method for predicting transcriptomics data through inference of RNA patterns from whole slide images (WSI) is a key step in studying metastasis at scale. In this work, we collected tissue from 4 stage-III (pT3) matched colorectal cancer patients for spatial transcriptomics profiling. The Visium spatial transcriptomics (ST) assay was used to measure transcript abundance for 17 943 genes at up to 5000 55-micron (i.e., 1–10 cells) spots per patient sampled in a honeycomb pattern, co-registered with hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) stained WSI. The Visium ST assay can measure expression at these spots through tissue permeabilization of mRNAs, which are captured through spatially (i.e., x–y positional coordinates) barcoded, gene specific oligo probes. WSI subimages were extracted around each co-registered Visium spot and were used to predict the expression at these spots using machine learning models. A model is proposed to study thermal changes taking place in a woman's breast in different stages of its development due to the menstrual cycle. The changes in the physical and physiological parameters such as blood mass flow rate, metabolic heat generation and thermal conductivity due to benign changes in the breast, have been incorporated in the model. Appropriate boundary conditions have been framed based on the physical conditions of the problem. The temperature profiles have been computed and the thermal changes in the breast have been analysed during the follicular and luteal phases of the menstrual cycle in different stages of its development. The finite element method has proved to be quite flexible and powerful in the present study as it was possible to incorporate the physiology of the breast in the proposed model to generate the thermal information of the breast due to benign changes occurring in the breast such as the menstrual cycle, etc. Copyright © 2019 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

Religion is a part of a fundamental human right to serve and worship their God according to their religion and belief. mobile game application along with the development of mobile phone technology such as a smartphone, tablet, and laptop, can be used to increase the player or user interest to engage with religion thing. Using the mobile game application in mobile gadgets will expand quickly to install and use for religion engagement. The player can learn religion things with fun and entertain ways, where the player does not realize that they do something serious in an unserious way. This paper will explain the model system design for mobile game application for learning Catholicism in fun and entertaining way and for the first development was limited to only three Catholic catechisms such as bible learning, church lesson, and liturgy celebration. For the early development, three types of games were developed such as True or False game, Scramble words game, and multiple-choice game. The mobile game model was designed with a use case diagram, storyboard, and class diagram, where for the current implementation the mobile game application was implemented using a ten tables database. © 2019 IEEE.

Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have obtained remarkable performance via deep architectures. However, these CNNs often achieve poor robustness for image superresolution (SR) under complex scenes. In this paper, we present a heterogeneous group SR CNN (HGSRCNN) via leveraging structure information of different types to obtain a high-quality image. Specifically, each heterogeneous group block (HGB) of HGSRCNN uses a heterogeneous architecture containing a symmetric group convolutional block and a complementary convolutional block in a parallel way to enhance internal and external relations of different channels for facilitating richer low-frequency structure information of different types. To prevent appearance of obtained redundant features, a refinement block with signal enhancements in a serial way is designed to filter useless information. To prevent loss of original information, a multi-level enhancement mechanism guides a CNN to achieve a symmetric architecture for promoting expressive ability of HGSRCNN. Besides, a parallel up-sampling mechanism is developed to train a blind SR model. Extensive experiments illustrate that the proposed HGSRCNN has obtained excellent SR performance in terms of both quantitative and qualitative analysis. Sports science can have a significant and positive impact on coaches and athletes, as well as for the professional sports organization. According to this situation, more and more organizations are competing to implement sports science as the monitoring systems. Along with the development of technology, it becomes easier for humans to carry out their activities, including communication with each other. Advances in the field of communication technologies have led to the use of social networks to support all activity. With social media, all kinds of information that people want to search for can be found easily. Social networks have their uniqueness in their characteristics. Like LINE has free calling and video calling features, while Instagram has features like Instagram Story, where users can document their activities in the form of photos or recordings. By all the characteristics of social networks, it will support the activity of sports science. The methodology of this research focused on quantitative research based on the T-test approach. The result shows that social media involvement can significantly support collaboration in sports science, so it can increase people's motivation to interact with other participants in sport organizations. © 2020 IEEE.
