Advancing human induced pluripotent stem cell derived cardiomyocyte (hiPSC-CM) technology will lead to significant progress ranging from disease modeling, to drug discovery, to regenerative tissue engineering. Yet, alongside these potential opportunities comes a critical challenge: attaining mature hiPSC-CM tissues. At present, there are multiple techniques to promote maturity of hiPSC-CMs including physical platforms and cell culture protocols. However, when it comes to making quantitative comparisons of functional behavior, there are limited options for reliably and reproducibly computing functional metrics that are suitable for direct cross-system comparison. In addition, the current standard functional metrics obtained from time-lapse images of cardiac microbundle contraction reported in the field (i.e., post forces, average tissue stress) do not take full advantage of the available information present in these data (i.e., full-field tissue displacements and strains). Thus, we present "MicroBundleCompute, " a computational framework for automatic quantification of morphology-based mechanical metrics from movies of cardiac microbundles. Briefly, this computational framework offers tools for automatic tissue segmentation, tracking, and analysis of brightfield and phase contrast movies of beating cardiac microbundles. It is straightforward to implement, runs without user intervention, requires minimal input parameter setting selection, and is computationally inexpensive. In this paper, we describe the methods underlying this computational framework, show the results of our extensive validation studies, and demonstrate the utility of exploring heterogeneous tissue deformations and strains as functional metrics. Religion is a part of a fundamental human right to serve and worship their God according to their religion and belief. mobile game application along with the development of mobile phone technology such as a smartphone, tablet, and laptop, can be used to increase the player or user interest to engage with religion thing. Using the mobile game application in mobile gadgets will expand quickly to install and use for religion engagement. The player can learn religion things with fun and entertain ways, where the player does not realize that they do something serious in an unserious way. This paper will explain the model system design for mobile game application for learning Catholicism in fun and entertaining way and for the first development was limited to only three Catholic catechisms such as bible learning, church lesson, and liturgy celebration. For the early development, three types of games were developed such as True or False game, Scramble words game, and multiple-choice game. The mobile game model was designed with a use case diagram, storyboard, and class diagram, where for the current implementation the mobile game application was implemented using a ten tables database.

Although research activity plays a big role in institutional ranking and provides a great benefit for university lecturer, the process of managing all research activity is tedious and exhausting. In most university, management must be able to collect all hundreds of proposals and reports;not to mention they must be able to accommodate the process of reviewing every single proposal. They also need to monitor all research output in final report and make sure that all of the outputs are correctly achieved from proposed target. In addition to the problems stated, previous activities are done manually, leaving a lot of opportunity to improve and automate the process. All of the addressable opportunity for improvement are explained and explored, thus a model of the web application is created. This paper presents the design of web application used to solve persistent problem in research management, specifically in Binus University. The design methodology is divided into two phases: requirement engineering phase, and system design. Upon finishing the requirement engineering phase, system model is depicted using Unified Modeling Language, specifically: Activity Diagram, Use Case Diagram, and Conceptual Class Diagram. © 2018 IEEE.

Depending on the relative rates of coupling and dissipation, a light-matter coupled system is either in the weak- or strong-coupling regime. Here, we present a unique system where the coupling rate continuously increases with an externally applied magnetic field while the dissipation rate remains constant, allowing us to monitor a weak-to-strong coupling transition as a function of magnetic field. We observed a Rabi splitting of a terahertz magnon mode in yttrium orthoferrite above a threshold magnetic field of ∼14 T. Based on a microscopic theoretical model, we show that with increasing magnetic field the magnons transition into magnon polaritons through an exceptional point, which will open up new opportunities for in situ control of non-Hermitian systems. Bi_2Se_3/C Nanocomposite as a New Sodium-Ion Battery Anode Material

Bi_2Se_3 was studied as a novel sodium-ion battery anode material because of its high theoretical capacity and high intrinsic conductivity. Integrated with carbon,Bi_2Se_3/C composite shows excellent cyclic performance and rate capability. For instance, the Bi_2Se_3/C anode delivers an initial capacity of 527 mAh g^(-10) at 0.1 A g^(-1) and maintains 89% of this capacity over 100 cycles. The phase change and sodium storage mechanism are also carefully investigated.

A three dimensional Lorentzian hypersurface x : M_1~3→ R_1~4 is called conformally flat if its induced metric is conformal to the flat Lorentzian metric, and this property is preserved under the conformal transformation of R_1~4. Using the projective light-cone model, for those whose shape operators have three distinct real eigenvalues, we calculate the integrability conditions by constructing a scalar conformal invariant and a canonical moving frame in this paper. Similar to the Riemannian case, these hypersurfaces can be determined by the solutions to some system of partial differential equations.

Stiffness of human cancers strongly correlate with their pathology, and it is reported that stiffness can be used as a biomarker. Furthermore, comprehensive analysis has suggested the usefulness of cancer stiffness in diagnosis and malignancy prediction and its association with molecular expression, as well as its potential for predicting and diagnosing postoperative complications. Neurosurgeons perform tumor resection relying on the sensations that they feel with their own fingertips (tactile sensation), but it takes years of surgical experience to accurately distinguish brain tumor from the surrounding normal brain *** is a new technology regarding touching sensation. Especially, our technology, real haptics, can communicate, record, and reproduce the real sensation. It is also possible to measure and analyze the physical property such as stiffness of the touching object from the obtained haptic *** developed a surgical forceps equipped with haptics technology to distinguish brain tumor tissue from surrounding normal brain tissue. three glioblastoma cell lines (SF126, U87, U251) and a malignant meningioma cell line (IOMM-Lee) were each transplanted intracranially into 5 nude mice. Tumor size was periodically monitored and mice were euthanized at appropriate time points. The stiffness of the tumor and normal brain tissue was measured using a master-slave integrated surgical forceps prototype. The results statistically showed that all four types of brain tumor tissues were stiffer than normal brain tissues. (p = 0.001) In addition, malignant meningioma was statistically stiffer than glioblastomas. (p = 0.025) This result is consistent with actual surgical *** have shown that our surgical forceps has the ability to distinguish pathology of brain tumors as well as to distinguish brain tumor from normal brain tissue. The forceps is also helpful for the neurosurgeons to sense minute change in tissue stiffness.

Recently, Vehicular Cloud Communication (VCC) has been gaining momentum targeting intelligent and efficient data transmission. VCC is a type of mobile ad-hoc network comprising heterogeneous vehicles sharing their resources to perform collaborative activities. In this paper, we propose a new semi-infrastructure file-browsing in order to provide Network as a service (NaaS) enabling internet-independent browsing. In our scenario, a central management platform plays the role of controlling and managing the selection of relaying vehicles supporting the source to destination file transmission procedure. Nagel-Schreckenberg rules for traffic cellular automata (CA) are used as the basis for our scenario simulation. Nagel-Schreckenberg rules simulate the behavior of a group of hypothetical vehicles moving across a highway. We study the reliability and efficiency of file transfer in such settings. Simulation results show that the number of selected relays required to establish the network highly impacts the probability of successfully sending the requested files. In addition, the distances between the selected relays influence the network throughput and the probability of network failure. Moreover, the density of relays strongly affects the overall delay that occurs due to the continuous re-transmission of the selected files among different hops. © 2019, ICST Institute for computer sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

PbTe crystals have a soft transverse optical phonon mode in the terahertz frequency range, which is known to efficiently decay into heat-carrying acoustic phonons, resulting in anomalously low thermal conductivity. Here, we studied this phonon via polarization-dependent terahertz spectroscopy. We observed softening of this mode with decreasing temperature, indicative of incipient ferroelectricity, which we explain through a model including strong anharmonicity with a quartic displacement term. In magnetic fields up to 25 T, the phonon mode splits into two modes with opposite handedness, exhibiting circular dichroism. Their frequencies display Zeeman splitting together with an overall diamagnetic shift with increasing magnetic field. Using a group-theoretical approach, we demonstrate that these observations are the result of magnetic field-induced morphic changes in the crystal symmetries through the Lorentz force exerted on the lattice ions. Thus, our Letter reveals a novel process of controlling phonon properties in a soft ionic lattice by a strong magnetic field.
