This paper investigates a new scenario of spectrum sharing between unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and terrestrial wireless communication, in which a cognitive/secondary UAV transmitter communicates with a ground secondary receiver (SR), in the presence of a number of primary terrestrial communication links that operate over the same frequency band. We exploit the UAV's mobility in three-dimensional (3D) space to improve its cognitive communication performance while controlling the co-channel interference at the primary receivers (PRs), such that the received interference power at each PR is below a prescribed threshold termed as interference temperature (IT). First, we consider the quasi-stationary UAV scenario, where the UAV is placed at a static location during each communication period of interest. In this case, we jointly optimize the UAV's 3D placement and power control to maximize the SR's achievable rate, subject to the UAV's altitude and transmit power constraints, as well as a set of IT constraints at the PRs to protect their communications. Second, we consider the mobile UAV scenario, in which the UAV is dispatched to fly from an initial location to a final location within a given task period. We propose an efficient algorithm to maximize the SR's average achievable rate over this period by jointly optimizing the UAV's 3D trajectory and power control, subject to the additional constraints on UAV's maximum flying speed and initial/final locations. Finally, numerical results are provided to evaluate the performance of the proposed designs for different scenarios, as compared to various benchmark schemes. It is shown that in the quasi-stationary scenario the UAV should be placed at its minimum altitude while in the mobile scenario the UAV should adjust its altitude along with horizontal trajectory, so as to maximize the SR's achievable rate in both scenarios. © 1972-2012 IEEE.

Traditional neuron models use analog values for information representation and computation, while all-or-nothing spikes are employed in the spiking ones. With a more brain-like processing paradigm, spiking neurons are more promising for improvements on efficiency and computational capability. They extend the computation of traditional neurons with an additional dimension of time carried by all-or-nothing spikes. Could one benefit from both the accuracy of analog values and the time-processing capability of spikes? In this paper, we introduce a concept of augmented spikes to carry complementary information with spike coefficients in addition to spike latencies. New augmented spiking neuron model and synaptic learning rules are proposed to process and learn patterns of augmented spikes. We provide systematic insight into the properties and characteristics of our methods, including classification of augmented spike patterns, learning capacity, construction of causality, feature detection, robustness and applicability to practical tasks such as acoustic and visual pattern recognition. The remarkable results highlight the effectiveness and potential merits of our methods. Importantly, our augmented approaches are versatile and can be easily generalized to other spike-based systems, contributing to a potential development for them including neuromorphic computing. There have been many studies conducted related to Smart City, IT Governance and Big Data. In this study aims to find out how the relationship between the three and how to form a framework to explain it. The methodology used is qualitative by looking for some literature on smart city framework, IT Governance framework, and a Big Data framework. From these results, an overall picture of the relationship between the three is concluded, where Big Data has a role in IT Governance. and also the relationship of IT Governance to the realization of Smart City. And the final results of this study produce a framework to explain the relationship between Smart City, IT Governance and Big Data.

Facial recognition as of biometric authentication used in the field of security, military, finance and daily use is become a trend or famous, because of its natural and not intrusive nature. Many methods for face recognition such as holistic learning, the use of local features, shallow learning and deep learning, some methods are susceptible to variations in pose change, illumination, expression and age variation. State of the art of face recognition today is a deep learning technique that delivers high accuracy. In this paper author replicate an face recognition using deep learning architecture called OpenFace Convolutional Neural Network. In this research author make variation on the size of image, color dept and age, and see how that factor impact on accuracy of face recognition in that architecture. As the result from the research, the accuracy of a model depends on the image size, color depth, and age variation, but in OpenFace CNN that recognition still provides fairly good accuracy when reducing the size of image and color depth, as long as the image can still be detected on the landmark facial, so the alignment process can be done on the face image. © 2018 IEEE.

This study aims to improve the performance in solder joint image compression and reconstruction. A novel adaptive block compressive sensing with convex optimisation and Gini index (Ad_BCSGB_Gini) methodology for solder joint image compression and reconstruction is proposed. At first, the image is split into square blocks and each block is resized into a row which consists of a new image. Then, the new image is transformed into a sparse signal by an orthogonal basis matrix, and the image reconstruction is handled as a convex optimisation problem. Moreover, a gradient-based method which has fast computational speed is used to reconstruct image. There is a control factor which controls a norm l1 in the optimisation problem. To achieve the best performance, at last, the proposed method adaptively selects the best result by comparing Gini index of the reconstruction results based on different control factor values. Experimental results with different methods indicate that the Ad_BCSGB_Gini method is able to achieve the best performance in quantisation comparison than several classical algorithms, and Ad_BCSGB_Gini has a good robustness. © 2019 Institution of Engineering and technology. Complications in the ALMA detection of phosphine at Venus

Recently published ALMA observations suggest the presence of 20 ppb PH3 in the upper clouds of Venus. This is an unexpected result, as PH3 does not have a readily apparent source and should be rapidly photochemically destroyed according to our current understanding of Venus atmospheric chemistry. While the reported PH3 spectral line at 266.94 GHz is nearly co-located with an SO2 spectral line, the non-detection of stronger SO2 lines in the wideband ALMA data is used to rule out SO2 as the origin of the feature. We present a reassessment of wideband and narrowband datasets derived from these ALMA observations. The ALMA observations are re-reduced following both the initial and revised calibration procedures discussed by the authors of the original study. We also investigate the phenomenon of apparent spectral line dilution over varying spatial scales resulting from the ALMA antenna configuration. A 266.94 GHz spectral feature is apparent in the narrowband data using the initial calibration procedures, but this same feature can not be identified following calibration revisions. The feature is also not reproduced in the wideband data. While the SO2 spectral line is not observed at 257.54 GHz in the ALMA wideband data, our dilution simulations suggest that SO2 abundances greater than the previously suggested 10 ppb limit would also not be detected by ALMA. Additional millimeter, sub-millimeter, and infrared observations of Venus should be undertaken to further investigate the possibility of PH3 in the Venus atmosphere. © 2021, CC BY-NC-SA.

Desublimation at low temperatures offers an efficient method for removing CO 2 from gas streams. Accurate prediction of the carbon dioxide desublimation temperature (CDDT) is essential for applying this method in natural gas processing. This investigation aimed to develop predictive tools utilizing machine learning approaches to estimate CDDT within natural gas mixtures. To reach this target, a large data set comprising 430 measurements obtained from published sources, was prepared. These data points cover the CDDT in binary and ternary natural gas mixtures under different pressures and gas fractions. In addition to black-box tools such as Decision Tree (DT), Gaussian Process Method (GPM) and Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) methods, a mathematical equation was developed via Genetic programming (GP) technique for CDDT calculation. The performances of the designed models were rigorously evaluated through various visual inspections and statistical indices. While all models demonstrated excellent predictive accuracy, the GPM model provided superior results among black-box tools, exhibiting a mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) of 0.99 %. Furthermore, the GP equation achieved an overall MAPE of 0.65 % for the CDDT data. The intelligent models also performed well in predicting the data pertinent to both binary and ternary mixtures. A series of simulations based on the models’ outcomes were carried out to depict the CDDT variations in response to operational parameters, and the findings showed full consistency with previous experimental results. Ultimately, a sensitivity analysis was conducted to pinpoint the dominant factors affecting the CO 2 desublimation. Overall, the outcomes of this research enhance the understanding of CDDT behavior and provide valuable information for optimizing low-temperature CO 2 capture processes used in natural gas purification.
