Networked control system (NCS) is a set of entities communicating and exchanging data via a network, which makes its analysis and synthesis complex. Colored Petri nets (CPN) provide a very compact way and a well-adapted and progressive framework for modeling and analysis complex systems in which competition, synchronization, resource sharing and parallelism are present. Our work concerns facilating the practical use of CPN for designing of NCS. For that goal, we will work with cpntools simulator to present a graphical model with hierarchical colored petri nets (HCPN) for the Ethernet network in the first step, starting with the global model, then going through its internal modules, secondly, we will propose a model for different entities that constitute our control system. Finally, we will highlight the operation of this mode and the good flow of data between the various components.

This paper presents a linear dynamic model for the current and position of plasma in Damavand tokamak (DT) based on the RZIP methodology. Experimental data shots of DT are employed to validate the model and to show its accuracy. Since there are uncertainties in the model parameters, a robust decentralized control system is designed by considering the interaction between the input-output channels. Robust proportional and proportional-integral controllers are designed to obtain robust closed-loop stability and performance based on the Kharitonov theorem. The simulation results of the closed-loop system in two scenarios are presented to show the effectiveness of the introduced control system.

Deep Penetration of Shear Deformation in Ferritic Stainless Steel via Differential Speed Rolling Considering Contact Condition

Featured Application This study suggests a simple method to determine the active slip system in steel, which may be beneficial to improve effectiveness for industrial cold-rolling processes. Abstract In order to effectively process crystal-structured materials like metal, knowledge of the working slip system during plastic deformation is necessary. Rolling is a widely utilized industrial processing method, and understanding its inherent characteristics can optimize the process and help achieve the desired microstructure and texture. One key aspect worth investigating is how shear deformation penetrates through the material thickness, particularly in relation to contact conditions. Analyzing slip system activity provides valuable insights into the deep penetration of shear deformation. This is achieved by examining orientation gradients derived from inverse pole figure maps obtained through electron backscatter diffraction. The rotation axis is extracted and compared with that obtained from calculation using simple first-order self-consistent formulation. The analysis was carried out on grains with 001<110>, 001<110>, 111<110>, 111<121>, 111<011>, and 111<112> to see the activity of slip systems of 112<111> when plane strain or plane + shear mode is in operation. The rotation axis from the experiment is in agreement with that from the calculation, which confirmed the activity of the well-known 112<111> slip systems. It was found that 112<111> was active in solo in grain with {111}//ND orientation along the gamma-fiber during the early stage of differential speed rolling (DSR). Furthermore, it was revealed that the 112<111> slip system was found active when shear deformation mode was in operation at the center of the sheet, which can only be found in the case of a sample with no lubrication. Conclusion: The current study shows that deep penetration was achieved under contact conditions where no lubrication was used during DSR by revealing the activity of the 112<111>

Self-organizing network representation of human heart

Network represents adjacent relationships, connections, and interactions among constituent elements in complex systems but often loses critical information about spatial configurations. However, structure-function relationships in biological systems, e.g., the human heart, are highly dependent on both connectivity relationships and geometric details. Therefore, this paper presents a new self-organizing approach to derive the geometric structure from a network representation of the heart. We propose to simulate the network as a physical system, where nodes are treated as charged particles and edges as springs and then let these nodes self-organize to reconstruct geometric details. Despite random initiations, this network evolves into a steady topology when its energy is minimized. This study addresses the open question, i.e., "whether a network representation can effectively resemble spatial geometry of a biological system," thereby paving a stepstone to leverage network theory to investigate disease-altered biological functions.

Two-Stage Game Guidance Strategy With Impact Point for Active Defense Aircraft in Two-on-Two Engagement

A two-stage game guidance strategy is designed in this article using the optimal control method in a two-on-two engagement scenario, which consists of a defender (low-value aircraft), a target (high-value aircraft), and two attackers. The probability of the attackers intercepting the target is assumed to devise an impact point in the engagement. The greater the probability, the closer the impact point is to the attacker. Therefore, the engagement is divided by the impact point into two stages. The first stage is a three-player confrontation between the defender, the target, and the impact point, where the defender remains on the line-of-sight between the target and the impact point. The defender is closer to the attacker by pursuing the impact point to increase the success rate of combat. For the second stage, the defender intercepts the attacker posing the greatest threat to the target at the desired terminal angle while the target adopts an optimal avoidance strategy. Simulations are performed to verify the effectiveness and feasibility of the guidance strategy.

The importance of Model Predictive control(MPC)has significant applications in the agricultural industry,more specifically for greenhouse’s control ***,the complexity of the greenhouse and its limited prior knowledge prevent an exact mathematical description of the *** methods provide a promising solution to this issue through their capacity to identify the system’s comportment using the fit between model output and observed *** this paper,we introduce an application of Constrained Model Predictive control(CMPC)for a greenhouse temperature and relative *** this purpose,two Multi Input Single Output(MISO)systems,using Numerical Subspace State Space System Identification(N4SID)algorithm,are firstly suggested to identify the temperature and the relative humidity comportment to heating and ventilation *** this sense,linear state space models were adopted in order to evaluate the robustness of the control *** the system is identified,the MPC technique is applied for the temperature and the humidity *** results show that the regulation of the temperature and the relative humidity under constraints was guaranteed,both parameters respect the ranges 15℃≤T_(int)≤30℃and 50%≤H_(int)≤70%*** the other hand,the control signals uf and uh applied to the fan and the heater,respect the hard constraints notion,the control signals for the fan and the heater did not exceed 0≤uf≤4.3 Volts and 0≤uh≤5 Volts,respectively,which proves the effectiveness of the MPC and the tracking ***,we show that with the proposed technique,using a new optimization toolbox,the computational complexity has been significantly *** greenhouse in question is devoted to Schefflera Arboricola cultivation.

Optimal Deployment of Target Localization With Distance-Dependent Noise

The cooperative localization of radio-based distance measurement is one of the methods to effectively suppress the nonline of sight (NLOS) ranging errors and as a complement to visual/global navigation satellite system (GNSS) localization for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in GNSS challenging or denied environments due to its motility. Target localization can be regarded as a special case of cooperative localization. Meanwhile, the UAV can be considered as a ranging node when the ranging terminal is rigidly mounted on the UAV. To improve the target localization accuracy, the optimal deployment of anchor UAVs is one of the factors we consider when the noise characteristics are different. In this paper, the range-dependent noise in a real flight environment is considered and modeled separately according to the difference in noise characteristics. Subsequently, based on this correlation model, the Fisher information matrix (FIM) and a cost function derived from the A-optimal criterion are provided. Finally, the optimal deployment conditions and the minimum mean square error (MMSE) can be derived by minimizing the cost function as the objective. Through simulation and localization experiments, the validity of the optimal deployment conditions and the corresponding MMSE are verified. Meanwhile, it is concluded that when the noise is range-dependent, it will not affect the optimal deployment result but will significantly change the value of MMSE. © 2014 IEEE.

Key performance indicators to evaluate TSA dehydration efficiency and prevent retrograde condensation

This study addresses key operational challenges in gas dehydration units, such as liquid presence, premature breakthrough, rapid pressure drops, high energy consumption during regeneration, and adsorbent degradation. It introduces a real-time dehydration model, defines and evaluates KPIs for controlling the TSA process. The research also develops a monitoring metric for the phase envelope region where retrograde condensation occurs and validates the model industrially. Using Modelica and Python, a multicomponent natural gas adsorption drying model is created, incorporating material balance, equilibrium isotherms, pressure drop equations, and energy balance. The model accurately replicates plant data, with only 2.47% error in breakthrough time and 0.03% in adsorption capacity. Findings reveal that while water is being adsorbed, other components are minimally adsorbed;in its absence, n-butane predominates. Retained heavier hydrocarbons can lead to pore blockage and reduced adsorbent lifespan when heated during regeneration. Increased humidity and heavier hydrocarbons exacerbate bed deterioration, causing rapid pressure drops and retrograde condensation. Breakthrough time is the primary KPI for water composition changes, while the retrograde condensation monitoring metric is key for n-butane changes. This metric serves as a valuable operational constraint for industrial dehydration units, highlighting the importance of maintaining optimal temperature and monitoring inlet gas composition to prevent retrograde condensation.

A Gaussian Process Regression-Based Multitarget Orientation Compensation Algorithm for Distance Measurement

Low-cost radio-based distance measurement devices, (like) such as ultrawideband (UWB) and Zigbee, are limited by transmission power and environmental noise interference, resulting in bias due to variations in the angles between paired devices. Considering the impact of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attitude on this measurement bias, a compensation model using Gaussian process regression (GPR) is established first, by mapping the two pseudo-Euler angles under the defined p-frame and the corresponding measurement bias. We take the UAV swarms as an example to deduce the relationship between the UAV quaternion and two pseudo-Euler angles, including the mean and the variance. Based on the GPR compensation model, a GPR-based multitarget orientation compensation algorithm (GPRMOCA) is proposed to solve the measurement bias problem in multitarget positioning. The algorithm allows us to calculate the corresponding compensation and its uncertainty for distance measurement between the target and each anchor. Importantly, this algorithm is not limited to UAVs but applies to various scenarios, including indoor positioning. Four UAV experiments verify the effectiveness of the proposed GPRMOCA algorithm. We find that there are two bias peaks when the device rotates 360 degrees, and the proposed algorithm has a better effect for correcting the deviation of the peak.

Bayesian Inference for Thermal Model of Synchronous Generator Part-II: State Estimation

This paper is the Part II of the series on parameter and state estimation using the Bayesian inference for a thermal model of a synchronous generator. Part I is about Parameter Estimation. In this paper, state estimation of rotor copper and air-gap temperatures of the synchronous generator are performed using Bayesian inference. Estimators such as Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF), Ensemble Kalman Filter (EnKF), and Particle Filters (PFs) with different sampling algorithms, are compared based on the estimation accuracy and computational time. The inferences are drawn for the posterior distributions of the state, dispersion of particles, error convergence and particle realizations of the state estimator, choice, and the computational effort of the estimators. Results show that UKF has fair estimation accuracy with the fastest computational time as compared to other estimators.
