Novel Hybrid Photovoltaic Array Arrangement to Mitigate Partial Shading Effects

Abstract: This paper presents a Novel Hybrid reconfiguration scheme to mitigate partial shading effects in the photovoltaic array and minimize ties number and wiring complexity. The proposed topology is based on a combination of Total-Cross-Tied and Bridge-Linked classic topologies. Ten possible shadowing scenarios have been considered for this investigation in 6x6 photovoltaic array. Further, the proposed topology performance is assessed and compared to various typical photovoltaic array topologies, namely, Series-Parallel (S‑P), Honey-Comb (H-C), Bridge-Linked (B-L), and Total-Cross-Tied (T-C-T) by considering the several parameters like Global Maximum Power Point (GMPP), Current at GMPP, Voltage at GMPP, Fill Factor, Mismatch Loss, and Efficiency. The Canadian Solar CS5A-200M PV module parameters are used in MATLAB-Simulink software to simulate photovoltaic array configurations. Finally, the findings of this work demonstrates that the suggested topology minimizes the shading losses and generates the highest maximum power regarding the other array configurations under most shadowing cases. The power enhancement percentage of the Novel arrangement can reach up to 20.25% for the S-P configuration, and up to 16% for both the H-C and B-L topologies. In addition, the proposed scheme is characterized by the minimum wiring loss when compared to the Total-Cross-Tied topology. © 2022, Allerton Press, Inc.

Analytical solutions are derived for multifunctional N-layered rectangular plates. The multilayered plate may consist of linear elastic or piezoelectric laminates of arbitrary thickness. The related equations and formulae are developed based on the Stroh like formalism. Solutions for multilayered plates are expressed in terms of the propagator matrix and satisfy the continuity conditions of material layers. Various types of electrical and mechanical loading may be considered. Numerical results of stresses, electric potential and displacement for some multifunctional multilayered plates are analyzed. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

This paper presents an analysis of a system consisting of a PV collector augmented with two reflectors to obtain more electrical energy. The model provides the possibility to predict the solar energy received by the panel in the day. To enhance the amount of solar radiation on the fixed photovoltaic Panel we daily changed the tilt angle of the two reflectors to get them in an optimal position which depends on the angle of elevation of the sun, the azimuth angle for typical days throughout the year. In this work, we calculated the electrical efficiency of the photovoltaic panel in two cases, without and with reflectors in the optimal position. The study is made on the site of Tetouan (longitude = − 5°, latitude = 35.25°) for a daily variation (from sunset to sunrise) relatively for the days 21 March 21 Mai 21 June 21 September and 21 December, (the spring and autumn equinox and summer and winter solstices), days considered clear sky type. © 2022, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

This study presents a monitored standalone photovoltaic solar direct pumping system using the Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithm to optimize the solar photovoltaic conversion efficiency. It was done at ISET-Rosso in Mauritania. The experimental setup based on Lorentz PS1200C-SJ5-8 pumping system consists of four photovoltaic (PV) panels, inverter PS1200, BLDC motor, centrifugal pump and a storage tank. The system has been monitored, in order to determine the relationship between: the DC power produced by the PV generator and the solar radiation;the water flow and the DC power and by then the relationship between the water flow and the solar radiation. © 2018 IEEE.

To achieve better optimization of the productivity of a standalone photovoltaic solar system, we first need to characterize the climate of the area where the system will be implemented. Then we have to study the behavior of the chosen charge with respect to the characteristics of the electrical parameters delivered by the photovoltaic generator (PVG). This will allow us to choose the right DC/DC converter. The new proposed MPPT method is based on the prediction of the maximum power point (MPP) of the PVG from the measurement of irradiation and temperature. The relationship between the MPP and the measured irradiation and temperature are modeled via mathematical equations by numerical methods such as interpolations (digital arithmetic sequence). Four parameters are created to facilitate the system controllability through the voltages of the inputs and outputs of the DC/DC converter with the climatic parameters variation. To test and evaluate the performance of the proposed MPPT method, we will make comparisons with conventional methods, such as: Perturb and Observe (PO), Incremental Conductance (INC) and Fractional Open Circuit Voltage (FOCV), under dynamic weather conditions. © 2020 IEEE.

Abstract Generalized B-splines have been employed as geometric modeling and numerical simu- lation tools for isogeometric analysis （IGA for short）. However, the previous models used in IGA, such as trigonometric generalized B-splines or hyperbolic generalized B-splines, are not the unified mathematical representation of conics and polynomial parametric curves/surfaces. In this paper, a unified approach to construct the generalized non-uniform B-splines over the space spanned by {α（t）,β（t）,ξ（t）, η（t）, 1, t,……. , tn-4} is proposed, and the corresponding isogeometric analysis framework for PDE solving is also studied. Compared with the NURBS-IGA method, the proposed frameworks have several advantages such as high accuracy, easy-to-compute derivatives and integrals due to the non-rational form. Furthermore, with the proposed spline models, isogeometric analysis can be performed on the computational domain bounded by transcendental curves/surfaces, such as the involute of circle, the helix/helicoid, the catenary/catenoid and the cycloid. Several numerical examples for isogeometrie heat conduction problems are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

This work presents a simple and yet powerful approach for quantitative and qualitative evaluation of the performance of 3-UPU spatial parallel robot. The quaternion approach is used to obtain graphically the workspace of the 3-UPU parallel manipulator. The Jacobian matrix is developed then used to search for conditions that lead to singular configurations where the mobility of the manipulator instantly changes. The condition number of this matrix characterizes the dexterity of a robot manipulator at a given posture in the workplace, which is an important index to measure the performance of the mechanism. The aim of this work is to evaluate all behaviors of the proposed model of spatial mechanism and analyze the kinematic performances indexes, which allows the evaluation and the comparison of the workspace reached by the spherical parallel manipulator, with the workspace required or prescribed for a desired application.

Optimal Trajectory Planning for Spherical Robot Using Evolutionary Algorithms

The trajectory planning problem of robot is addressed in this paper, which is consist of finding an optimal trajectory for a given path from an initial and final positions in the operating space. We aim to determine the optimal trajectory for three degrees of freedom spherical wrist with concurrent axis by using genetic algorithm. The optimized trajectory must have a minimum trajectory time and minimum joint traveling distance with free path collision in the workspace. In order to move from the initial point to the final point, we propose the use of polynomial interpolation, the optimization technique allow to determine the coefficients of the optimal trajectory. The simulation results for a three degrees of freedom robots are presented and discussed.

This paper highlights workspace modeling of two parallel robots based on CAD technique. The algorithm is presented and described for the generation of each workspace, which is implemented in CATIA software. The impact of different design parameters on the reachable workspace of DELTA robot manipulator is discussed. Finally, an optimization example is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

In a attempt to develop an efficient approach for the electromechanical analysis of laminated piezoelectric structures, an exact transfer matrix methodology is presented. The related equations for a three dimensional piezoelectric and elastic lamina are developed based on the Stroh formalism [1,2]. Solution for the vibrations of linear piezoelectric laminated plates is obtained by extending the Stroh formalism to the generalized plane strain vibrations of piezoelectric materials [3,4]. The laminated plate consists of homogeneous orthotropic electro-elastic three layered rectangular plate with horizontal dimensions Lxand Lyand with arbitrary thickness (figure 1). © 2013 Advanced Electromagnetics Symposium.
