Deep image prior plus sparsity prior:toward single-shot full-Stokes spectropolarimetric imaging with a multiple-order retarder

Compressive full-Stokes spectropolarimetric imaging(SPI),integrating passive polarization modulator(PM)into general imaging spectrometer,is powerful enough to capture high-dimensional information via incomplete measurement;a reconstruction algorithm is needed to recover 3D data cube(x,y,andλ)for each Stokes ***,existing PMs usually consist of complex elements and enslave to accurate polarization calibration,current algorithms suffer from poor imaging quality and are subject to noise *** this work,we present a single multiple-order retarder followed a polarizer to implement passive spectropolarimetric *** building a unified forward imaging model for SPI,we propose a deep image prior plus sparsity prior algorithm for high-quality *** method based on untrained network does not need training data or accurate polarization calibration and can simultaneously reconstruct the 3D data cube and achieve ***,we integrate the simplest PM into our miniature snapshot imaging spectrometer to form a single-shot SPI *** simulations and experiments verify the feasibility and outperformance of our SPI *** provides a paradigm that allows general spectral imaging systems to become passive full-Stokes SPI systems by integrating the simplest PM without changing their intrinsic mechanism.

Autonomously Tuning Multilayer Thermal Cloak with Variable Thermal Conductivity Based on Thermal Triggered Dual Phase-Transition Metamaterial

Thermal cloaks offer the potential to conceal internal objects from detection or to prevent thermal shock by controlling external heat flow. However, most conventional natural materials lack the desired flexibility and versatility required for on-demand thermal manipulation. We propose a solution in the form of homogeneous multilayer thermodynamic cloaks. Through an ingenious design, these cloaks achieve exceptional and extreme parameters, enabling the distribution of multiple materials in space. We first investigate the effects of important design parameters on the thermal shielding effectiveness of conventional thermal cloaks. Subsequently, we introduce an autonomous tuning function for the thermodynamic cloak, accomplished by leveraging two phase transition materials as thermal conductive layers. Remarkably, this tuning function does not require any energy input. Finite element analysis results demonstrate a significant reduction in the temperature gradient inside the thermal cloak compared to the surrounding background. This reduction indicates the cloak’s remarkable ability to manipulate the spatial thermal field. Furthermore, the utilization of materials undergoing phase transition leads to an increase in thermal conductivity, enabling the cloak to achieve the opposite variation of the temperature field between the object region and the background. This means that, while the temperature gradient within the cloak decreases, the temperature gradient in the background increases. This work addresses a compelling and crucial challenge in the realm of thermal metamaterials, i.e., autonomous tuning of the thermal field without energy input. Two families of cyclopentadienyl(Cp)/carboranyl heteroleptic sandwiched organolanthanide complexes,namely[Ln{η^(5):σ-Me_(2)C(C_(5)H_(4))(C_(2)B_(10)H_(10))}_(2)][Li(DME)_(3)](1Ln,Ln=Tb,Dy,Ho,Er)and[2-THF-2'-(μ^(2)-Cl)Li(THF)_"(3)-2,2'-Ln(nido-1,7-C_(2)B_(9)H_(11))Cp*](2Dy),were *** of 1Ln has been proposed based on the mixing-ligands idea by linking Cp and ***,the carborane cage of[Me_(2)C(C_(5)H_(4))(C_(2)B_(10)H_(10))]_(2)−deprotons and forms a mono-C−anion rather than deboron to form dicarborllide ***,the family of 1Ln features a dysprosocenium skeleton with extra two coordination of C−anions of *** coordination geometry is more like a tetrahedron if abstracting the centroids of two coordinated Cp *** this cubic-type geometry,no significant magnetic axiality is presented;only 1Dy and 1Tb show field-induced slow magnetic relaxation behavior below 10 *** by 1Ln,the free pentamethylcyclopentadienyl(Cp^(*−))and nido-dicarborllide ligands are used to sandwich central Dy3+ion,achieving heteroleptic complex *** bending angle by linking the centroid of Cp^(*−),Dy^(3+)and C_(2)B_(3)^(2−)in 2Dy is increased to 132.8(1)°.As such,the effective energy barrier for magnetic reversal(Ueff)and magnetic blocking temperature TB(ZFC)are both increased(Ueff=616(10)K;TB=6 K).The effort of further enhancing Ueff and TB in such heteroleptic organolanthanide sandwiches should rely on keeping increasing the ligand axiality.

Electron-electron-ion triple-coincidence experiment of electron-initiated valence ionization of small water clusters

The ionization and fragmentation of small water clusters induced by electron impact (80 eV) is investigated. Using a multiparticle coincidence spectrometer (reaction microscope), all three charged final state particles—two outgoing electrons and one fragment ion—are detected. Nonprotonated (H2O)2+ and protonated water clusters H3O+, [H2O]2H+, [H2O]4H+, and [H2O]5H+ are identified in the measured ion spectrum. The ionization channels for formation of these species are investigated by measuring the kinetic energy distributions and the electronic states of the ions. Only a single state can lead to (H2O)2+, which is identified as ionization of water dimer with a 1b1 hole at the hydrogen bonding donor molecule, while for the protonated water species three major electronic states corresponding to the ionization of 1b1, 3a1, and 1b2 type orbitals are observed.

Structure determination of heteroaromatic thiophene dimers by intermolecular Coulombic decay upon electron-impact ionization

This paper reports the structure and intermolecular potential energy curve (PEC) of heteroaromatic thiophene dimers obtained using a cold-target recoil-ion momentum spectroscopy reaction microscope. The three-dimensional momenta and kinetic energy release (KER) of the C4H4S++C4H4S+ ion pairs are obtained by coincident momentum measurement. The two-body dissociation channel is initiated either by the rapid removal of one outer-valence electron from each thiophene molecule via sequential ionization or by intermolecular Coulombic decay (ICD). Our analysis of the absolute cross sections indicates that the C4H4S++C4H4S+ ion pair is preferentially formed by the ICD process. The measured KER and PEC, accompanied by ab initio molecular dynamics simulations for three different types of conformers, enable us to clarify the minimum energy configuration of thiophene dimers in the gas phase. These results are helpful for our understanding of π−π and σ−π interactions within heteroaromatic ring complexes.

Quantum droplets in dipolar condensate mixtures with arbitrary dipole orientations

Through considering a two-component dipolar Bose-Einstein condensate, we investigate the influence of the angle between the polarization orientations of the two species on the ground states and show that the miscibility between the two components can be adjusted not only by the inter-component contact interaction but also by the polarization angle. Particularly, in the presence of an external confinement, the two species exhibit a preference for splitting into multiple droplets separated from each other in the immiscible regime, featuring a zig-zag-like profile. Furthermore, the number of separated droplets depends solely on the polarization angle. This introduces a promising degree of freedom for exploring emergent states of matter in dipolar quantum gases.

In this study, we theoretically investigate the optical response characteristics of an output probe field in a hybrid double-cavity optomechanical system, which consists of a gain cavity, a charged object, along with a passive cavity that is made up of an optical parametric amplifier (OPA). There is a change from bistability to tristability when OPA and the charged parts are included. The combined impacts of OPA, gain-loss parameters, and coupling strength may be used to manipulate optical transmission rates as well as optical second-order sideband (OSS) efficiency. We further demonstrate how boosting the number of charges may significantly improve OSS efficiency. Specifically, we show that by modifying system settings, one may transition from slow to fast light or vice versa. Our findings indicate a suitable platform for improving or steering optomechanically generated transparency devices, with potential applications in optical communications, precise measurement, storage, and sensitive technology. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Enhanced magnetic performance of Fe-rich Sm_(2)Co_(17)-type magnets by optimizing Zr content

Despite the high theoretical energy product and low material cost of Fe-rich 2:17-type Sm-Co-Fe-Cu-Zr magnets,it is still a big challenge to simultaneously achieve high energy product and high coercivity due to damaged cellular nanostructure,*** cell boundary *** this work,both high energy product(∼30.29 MGOe)and high coercivity(∼26.24 kOe)have been achieved in Fe-rich Sm_(24.8)Co_(bal)Fe_(20.5)Cu_(5.2)Zr_(x)(x wt%)magnets through optimizing Zr *** reveals that raising Zr content from 1.5 wt%to 2.5 wt%can effectively refine the cellular nanostructure,which corresponds to an increased volume fraction of cell boundary ***,excess Zr content(*** 2.5 wt%)leads to the formation of micron-sized Zr-rich Zr_(6)Co_(23) soft magnetic particles,weakening the hard magnetic *** particular,the high Zr-content(3.5 wt%)magnet exhibits strongly inhomogeneous chemistry as well as cellular nanostructure in the vicinity of micron-sized Zr_(6)Co_(23)particles(*** distribution of cell boundary precipitates),deteriorating both squareness factor and *** a result,the optimum magnetic property combination is achieved at an intermediate Zr concentration by balancing the contradictive effects between cell refinement and soft magnetic impurities.
