In the recent years, radical communities have become very aware of the enormous impact of social networks around the world. Thus, these latter are being frequently explored by these groups. Therefore, penetrating into these communities by analyzing both their interactions and their shared content is a considerably challenging task that serves to counter the online radicalization. For this purpose, in this paper, we propose a new recursive methodology for radical communities' detection on social networks based on the analysis and extraction of their violent used vocabulary. Our methodology consists mainly on extracting recursively a set of dangerous profiles from Twitter based on their suspicious interactions. Then, we analyze their textual shared data in order to construct a rich glossary containing their violent used vocabulary. This glossary is exploited and enriched to detect recursively radical communities. Finally, in order to evaluate the performance of our methodology, we resort to an expert who verifies both the list of the dangerous extracted profiles and the violent constructed glossary. With the development of information security, localization of image manipulations havs become a hot topic. In this paper, a hybrid loss network is proposed for the manipulated image forensics. First, the patch prediction module extracts corresponding features representing the discrepancy of the tampered region boundaries. Then, these features are constrained by the Pixel Normalization, thereby improving the classification performance for the tampered patches. Finally, multi-scale patch prediction masks and semantic information are fused to segment out the tampered regions. The experiments demonstrate the proposed model can achieve high performance. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

This paper addresses the limitations of standard chips in processing large-scale datasets by leveraging neuromorphic architectures, particularly spiking neural networks (SNNs), to simulate the pulsed signals of biological brains for enhanced power efficiency and performance. Initially, we developed a CMOS circuit based on the Integrate-and-Fire (IF) neuron model, which generates spike signals with the spatiotemporal dynamics typical of neurons. This approach provides a novel perspective for neuromorphic chip design. Next, we introduce the Partial Element Equivalent Circuit (PEEC) method to establish a unit circuit model for the memristor crossbar array, accounting for all resistance-inductance-capacitance (RLC) parasitic couplings. This model enables precise signal integrity (SI) analysis, offering deeper insights into the signal transmission mechanisms within memristor crossbar arrays and serving as a foundation for optimizing neuromorphic chip performance. Building upon this model, we designed a 24×24 crossbar array hardware prototype, experimentally validating the reliability and feasibility of the circuit. Finally, we perform SI analysis to demonstrate that the performance of the memristor crossbar array can be enhanced by optimizing the rise time, adjusting the memristor’s resistance state, and adding inductance at the output. These findings provide both a theoretical foundation and a technical pathway for improving the performance of neuromorphic chips in practical applications. © 2025 IEEE. All rights reserved.

Floor plans can provide valuable prior information that helps enhance the accuracy of indoor positioning systems. However, existing research typically faces challenges in efficiently leveraging floor plan information and applying it to complex indoor layouts. To fully exploit information from floor plans for positioning, we propose a floor plan-assisted fusion positioning algorithm (FP-BP) using Bluetooth low energy (BLE) and pedestrian dead reckoning (PDR). In the considered system, a user holding a smartphone walks through a positioning area with BLE beacons installed on the ceiling, and can locate himself in real time. In particular, FP-BP consists of two phases. In the offline phase, FP-BP programmatically extracts map features from a stylized floor plan based on their binary masks, and constructs a mapping function to identify the corresponding map feature of any given position on the map. In the online phase, FP-BP continuously computes BLE positions and PDR results from BLE signals and smartphone sensors, where a novel grid-based maximum likelihood estimation (GML) algorithm is introduced to enhance BLE positioning. Then, a particle filter is used to fuse them and obtain an initial estimate. Finally, FP-BP performs post-position correction to obtain the final position based on its specific map feature. Experimental results show that FP-BP can achieve a real-time mean positioning accuracy of 1.19 m, representing an improvement of over 28% compared to existing floor plan-fused baseline algorithms. As the intelligent transportation system develops by leaps and bounds, there is an increasing interest in the potential of Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs) to enhance traffic efficiency and safety. The Conditional Privacy-Preserving Authentication (CPPA) scheme, which is suitable for solving anonymous authentication and message integrity during the communication, has been extensively studied to build the first line of defense for a secure VANET system. However, most existing Identitybased CPPA schemes rely on Tamper-Proof Devices (TPDs), which are susceptible to side-channel attacks. If the sensitive parameters stored in TPDs are compromised, the system could be completely ruined. In order to address this issue, Xiong et al. introduced a CPPA scheme with double-insurance, which was claimed to be secure against adaptively chosen message attacks. Unfortunately, we show in this paper that the scheme is universally forgeable, meaning that anyone can create a valid signature on any message, rendering the scheme inadequate for conditional privacy-preserving. After analyzing their shortcomings, we present a new scheme that addresses the issue, and formally proves its security under the Discrete Logarithms (DL) and Decisional Diffie-Hellman (DDH) assumptions. We also conducted experiments and simulations to evaluate our proposed scheme. The results demonstrate itssuperiority over similar schemes, indicating it is practical and effective in real-world scenarios. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Time-varying non-stationary channels, with complex dynamic variations and temporal evolution characteristics, have significant challenges in channel modeling and communication system performance evaluation. Most existing methods of time-varying channel modeling focus on predicting channel state at a given moment or simulating short-term channel fluctuations, which are unable to capture the long-term evolution of the channel. This paper emphasizes the generation of long-term dynamic channel to fully capture evolution of non-stationary channel properties. The generated channel not only reflects temporal dynamics but also ensures consistent stationarity. We propose a hybrid deep learning framework that combines conditional generative adversarial networks (CGAN) with long short-term memory (LSTM) networks. A stationarity-constrained approach is designed to ensure temporal correlation of the generated time-series channel. This method can generate channel with required temporal non-stationarity. The model is validated by comparing channel statistical features, and the results show that the generated channel is in good agreement with raw channel and provides good performance in terms of non-stationarity. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the demand for distance learning has significantly increased in higher education institutions. This type of learning is usually supported by Web-based learning systems such as Massive Open Online Courses (Coursera, edX, etc.) and Learning Management systems (Moodle, Blackboard-Learn, etc.). However, in this remote context, students often lack feedback and support from educational staff, especially when they face difficulties or challenges. For that reason, this work presents a Prediction-Intervention approach that (a) predicts students who present difficulties during an online learning course, based on two main learning indicators, namely engagement and performance rates, and (b) offers immediate support to students, tailored to the problem they are facing. To predict students’ issues, our approach considers ten machine learning algorithms of different types (standalone, ensemble, and deep learning) which are compared to determine the best performing ones. It has been experimented with a dataset collected from the Blackboard-Learn platform utilized in an engineering school called ESIEE-IT in France during 2021-2022 academic year, showing thus quite promising results.

As smartphones and mobile devices become ubiquitous in the daily life of human beings, facilitating interaction with them will have a positive impact on their use. This paper presents an emerging and important area for research on human-machine interaction, involving interaction with mobile devices. Hand gesture recognition is already a quite mature field and its integration on advanced technologies like smartphones makes a survey an interesting and needed contribution. The design of interactive mobile applications should differ from traditional desktop applications. For this purpose, the paper discusses some concepts that help to understand new challenges and introduces techniques that may be useful to properly exploit these devices. This paper gives also an overview of recent works done on vision-based and contact-based hand gesture recognition systems for mobile devices. Used techniques and approaches are also discussed. 5 G for Railways (5G-R) is globally recognized as a promising next-generation railway communication system designed to meet increasing demands. Channel modeling serves as foundation for communication system design, with tapped delay line (TDL) models widely utilized in system simulations due to their simplicity and practicality and serves as a crucial component of various standards like 3GPP. However, existing TDL models applicable to 5G-R systems are limited. Most fail to capture non-stationarity, a critical characteristic of railway communications, while others are unsuitable for the specific frequency bands and bandwidths of 5G-R. In this paper, a channel measurement campaign for 5G-R dedicated network is carried out, resulting in a measurement-based 5-tap TDL model utilizing a first-order two-state Markov chain to represent channel non-stationarity. Key model parameters, including number of taps, statistical distribution of amplitude, phase and Doppler shift, and state transition probability matrix, are extracted. The correlation between tap amplitudes is also obtained. Finally, the accuracy of model is validated through comparisons with measurement data and 3GPP model. These findings are expected to offer valuable insights for design and link-level simulation of 5G-R systems. © 2025 IEEE.

The growing demand for location-based services in areas like virtual reality, robot control, and navigation has intensified the focus on indoor localization. Visible light positioning (VLP), leveraging visible light communications (VLC), becomes a promising indoor positioning technology due to its high accuracy and low cost. This paper provides a comprehensive survey of VLP systems. In particular, since VLC lays the foundation for VLP, we first present a detailed overview of the principles of VLC. Then, we provide an in-depth overview of VLP algorithms. The performance of each positioning algorithm is also compared in terms of various metrics such as accuracy, coverage, and orientation limitation. Beyond the physical layer studies, the network design for a VLP system is also investigated, including multi-access technologies, resource allocation, and light-emitting diode (LED) placements. Next, the applications of the VLP systems are overviewed. Finally, this paper outlines open issues, challenges, and opportunities for the research field. In a nutshell, this paper constitutes the first holistic survey on VLP from state-of-the-art studies to practical uses. © 1998-2012 IEEE.
