A novel keyword rescoring method for improved spoken keyword spotting

In this paper, we present a spoken KeyWord Spotting (KWS) system which creates a search index from word lattices generated by a deep speech recognizer. Basic KWS systems estimate word posteriors from the lattices and use them to make “correct/false alarm” decisions. The main issue of lattice-based posterior probability is that a putative detection can have very low posterior probability so that the decider fails to detect it and considers it as a false alarm. Therefore, our goal is to enhance the keyword decision by detecting and boosting the score of missed detections. Accordingly, inspired by template matching approach, we propose a new keyword rescoring method. More precisely, detected hits are rescored based on the acoustic similarity and the new score are used then by the decider to make the final decision. Experiments demonstrate that the proposed method potentially leads to more accurate keyword results than the conventional KWS system.

The international community has made significant efforts to flatten the COVID-19 curve,including predicting transmission[1,2],executing unprecedented global lockdowns and social distancing[3,4],promoting the wearing of facemasks and social distancing measures[5],and isolating confirmed cases and contacts[6].Because of the adverse consequences of these lockdown measures[7],many cities have reopened so they can rebuild their ***,as mobility has gradually returned towards normal,imported cases from unknown sources have disrupted the recovery situation,and cities are continually at high risk of new waves of infection[8,9]since airborne transmission is the dominant transmission route[10].

Automated extraction of cerebrovascular is of great importance in understanding the mechanism, diagnosis, and treatment of many cerebrovascular pathologies. However, segmentation of cerebrovascular networks from magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) imagery continues to be challenging because of relatively poor contrast and inhomogeneous backgrounds, and the anatomical variations, complex geometry and topology of the networks themselves. In this paper, we present a novel cerebrovascular segmentation framework that consists of image enhancement and segmentation phases. We aim to remove redundant features, while retaining edge information in shallow features when combining these with deep features. We first employ a Retinex model, which is able to model noise explicitly to aid removal of imaging noise, as well as reducing redundancy within an image and emphasizing the vessel regions, thereby simplifying the subsequent segmentation problem. Subsequently, a reverse edge attention module is employed to discover edge information by paying particular attention to the regions that are not salient in high-level semantic features. The experimental results show that the proposed framework enables the reverse edge attention network to deliver a reliable cerebrovascular segmentation. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

With the spread of online social media websites, a huge amount of online content is continuously provided. However, some contents gain an important attention from users while other contents are completely ignored. This highlights the analysis of popularity relative to different social content. The popularity is expressed through measures and features that act as factors expressing and influencing the popularity. Those features vary from an online social media website to another as it depends on the type of social entity. This paper tries to create a normalized view of the popularity metrics independent of the online social media and in relation with specific social entities that are user and media content (i.e. text, image, and video). We propose a Service Provider Interface (SPI) as a contract between users. The SPI offers a variety of interfaces for implementing services related to the quantification of social entities popularity independently of the online social media they belong to. Knowledge management process is a set of procedures and tools applied to facilitate capturing, sharing and effectively using knowledge. However, knowledge collected from organizations is generally expressed in various formalisms, therefore it is heterogeneous. Thus, a Knowledge Warehouse (KW), which is a solution for implementing all phases of the knowledge management process, should solve this structural heterogeneity before loading and storing knowledge. In this paper, we are interested in knowledge normalization. More accurately, we firstly introduce our proposed architecture for a KW, and then we present the MOT (Modeling with Object Types) language for knowledge representation. Since our objective is to transform heterogeneous knowledge into MOT, as a pivot model, we suggest a meta-model for the MOT and another for the explicit knowledge extracted through the association rules technique. Thereafter, we define eight transformation rules and an algorithm to transform an association rules model into the MOT model. © 2018, Springer International Publishing AG, part of Springer Nature.

People re-identification has been a very active research topic recently in computer vision. It is an important application in surveillance system with disjoint cameras. This paper is focused on the implementation of a human re-identification system. First the face of detected people is divided into three parts and some soft-biometric traits are extracted from each part. In second step, we can recognize people even if their faces are hidden or they are with back appearance. The features extraction will be carried out according to the overall characteristics of the complete images of different persons. An algorithm that identifies people from their body shape will be developed. A powerful representation of the person based on the characteristics of color, texture and shape as well as different soft-biometric features is suggested. The experiments are carried out on SAIVT-SoftBio database which consists of videos from disjoint surveillance cameras as well as some static image based datasets (MUCT, VIPeR, CVSRP). © 2017.

Since the appearance of mobile devices, gesture recognition is being a challenging task in the field of computer vision. In this paper, a simple and fast algorithm for static hand gesture recognition for mobile device is described. The hand pose is recognized by using gentle AdaBoost learning algorithm and Local Binary Pattern features. The system is developed on an Android OS platform. The method used consists of two steps: a real-time gesture captured by a smartphone’s camera and the recognition of the hand gestures. It presents a system based on a real-time hand posture recognition algorithm for mobile devices. The aim of this work is to allow the mobile device interpreting the sign made by the user without the need to touch the screen. In this system, the device is able to perform all necessary steps to recognize hand posture without the need to connect to any distant device. © 2018, Springer International Publishing AG, part of Springer Nature.

The rise in the use of mobile devices requires finding new ways to interact with this type of devices. Gestures are an effective way to interact with the mobile device and to place order to it. However, gesture recognition in this context constitute a challenging task due the limited computational capacities of this type of devices. In this work, we present a hand pose estimation system for mobile device. The gesture is recognized by using a boosting algorithm and Haar-like features. The system is designed for Android devices. The method used consists of capturing gestures by a smartphone’s camera to recognize the hand sign. It presents a system based on a real-time hand posture recognition algorithm for mobile devices. The aim of this system is to allow the mobile device interpreting hand signs made by users without the need to touch the screen. © 2018, Springer International Publishing AG, part of Springer Nature.

According to the World Health Organization, the number of mental disorder patients, especially depression patients, has grown rapidly and become a leading contributor to the global burden of disease. However, the present common practice of depression diagnosis is based on interviews and clinical scales carried out by doctors, which is not only labor-consuming but also time-consuming. One important reason is due to the lack of physiological indicators for mental disorders. With the rising of tools such as data mining and artificial intelligence, using physiological data to explore new possible physiological indicators of mental disorder and creating new applications for mental disorder diagnosis has become a new research hot topic. However, good quality physiological data for mental disorder patients are hard to acquire. We present a multi-modal open dataset for mental-disorder analysis. The dataset includes EEG and audio data from clinically depressed patients and matching normal controls. All our patients were carefully diagnosed and selected by professional psychiatrists in hospitals. The EEG dataset includes not only data collected using traditional 128-electrodes mounted elastic cap, but also a novel wearable 3-electrode EEG collector for pervasive applications. The 128-electrodes EEG signals of 53 subjects were recorded as both in resting state and under stimulation;the 3-electrode EEG signals of 55 subjects were recorded in resting state;the audio data of 52 subjects were recorded during interviewing, reading, and picture description. We encourage other researchers in the field to use it for testing their methods of mental-disorder analysis. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Hand Gesture recognition becomes a challenging task in computer vision field especially after the appearance of mobile devices. Although gesture recognition algorithms have been widely applied to the human-mobile interaction systems, it is difficult to meet the real time requirements and the robustness in different lightening conditions and backgrounds. This paper provides a description of a practical investigation into ways of improving hand gesture recognition algorithms for computationally limited handheld Android devices. We thoroughly researched possible approaches and find out how they affect the mobile device in terms of execution time and energy consumption. We have identified a combined HOG-LBP methodology whose performance improved upon the detection rate of other systems. In this paper, we present a static hand gesture recognition system for mobile devices by combining the histogram of oriented gradients (HOG) and local binary pattern (LBP) features, which can accurately detect hand poses. With the help of combining HOG and LBP features, we achieved a detection rate of approximately 92% on the enhanced NUS dataset I. This combination performs a better result than the results obtained when using only LBP or HOG features in term of recognition rate. However, in term of execution and detection time, LBP and HOG perform better than the combined HOG-LBP.
