The objective of this work is to design a new method to solve the problem of integrating the Vapnik theory, as regards support vector machines, in the field of clustering data. For this we turned to bio-inspired meta-heuristics. Bio-inspired approaches aim to develop models resolving a class of problems by drawing on patterns of behavior developed in ethology. For instance, the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is one of the latest and widely used methods in this regard. Inspired by this paradigm we propose a new method for clustering. The proposed method PSvmC ensures the best separation of the unlabeled data sets into two groups. It aims specifically to explore the basic principles of SVM and to combine it with the meta-heuristic of particle swarm optimization to resolve the clustering problem. Indeed, it makes a contribution in the field of analysis of multivariate data. Obtained results present groups as homogeneous as possible. Indeed, the intra-class value is more efficient when comparing it to those obtained by Hierarchical clustering, Simple K-means and EM algorithms for different database of benchmark.

Iris recognition becomes an important technology in our society. Visual patterns of human iris provide rich texture information for personal identification. However, it is greatly challenging to match intra-class iris images with large variations in unconstrained environments because of noises, illumination variation, heterogeneity and so on. To track current state-of-the-art algorithms in iris recognition, we organized the first ICB* Competition on Iris Recognition in 2013 (or ICIR2013 shortly). In this competition, 8 participants from 6 countries submitted 13 algorithms totally. All the algorithms were trained on a public database (e.g. CASIA-Iris-Thousand [3]) and evaluated on an unpublished database. The testing results in terms of False Non-match Rate (FNMR) when False Match Rate (FMR) is 0.0001 are taken to rank the submitted algorithms.

The developpment of NLP tools for dialects faces the severe problem of lack of resources for such dialects. In the case of diglossia, as in arabic, a variant of arabic, Modern Standard Arabic, exists, for which many resources have been developped which can be used to build NLP tools. Taking advantage of the closeness of MSA and dialects, one way to solve the problem consist in performing a surfacic translation of the dialect into MSA in order to use the tools developped for MSA. We describe in this paper an achitecture for such a translation and we evaluate it on arabic verbs. © ATALA.

The development of novel high-throughput experimental techniques makes it possible to comprehensively analyze biological data in health and disease. However, a large amount of data generated results in dramatic data-analytic challenges in discovery of 'signature' molecules, which are specific to different biological conditions (e.g. normal vs. disease, treated vs. untreated). Current statistical methods are effective only in the case their hypothesis can be matched. In this paper, we apply an ensemble statistical method to infer significant molecules. In our approach, four well-done and well-understanding statistical techniques had been used for the analysis to the experimental data, and then the results will be collected into an ensemble framework to find the high confident "significant" molecules which can distinguish the different experimental conditions. We evaluate the performance of our approach on a test dataset which deposited on GEO database with an access number of GSE45114. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.

The increased volume of data in digital form has led to a wide variety of syntactic and semantic data. Thus, the user may encounter several problems related to the heterogeneity, distribution and volume of returned information. As a matter of fact, systems are needed to solve part or all of these problems. In this paper we propose and illustrate a distributed architecture that enables personalized access to collections of heterogeneous and distributed semi-structured documents (XML, RDF, SMIL). This architecture is based on an extension on the reference architecture of mediation systems DARPA I3 by adding an adaptation layer, based on the reference architecture for adaptive hypermedia systems AHA!, that takes into account the user's request, his context (profile, device, network, etc.) and data sources context (minimum bandwidth, necessary characteristics of the device to display data, etc.).

Since the first implementations of its principles, the Semantic Web presented a field of free work to ensure its integration and adaptation to the various domains of research. The application of Semantic Web technologies into the process of search in a collection of SMIL documents appears a promising initiative seen the evolution of this language through its various versions. In this paper we propose a semantic search tool in a collection of SMIL documents;this tool adopts a procedure composed of three modules: description, interrogation and representation of the results. We employ for the first module metadata commonly used to annotate information semantically, and for the second we solicit languages of Semantic Web such as RDF, OWL and SPARQL and seen the importance of collaboration of ontologies in the semantic description of multimedia resources, we also present the technique of concepts connection allowing to extend an initial ontology.

This manuscript presents the study and application of the method of principal component analysis (PCA) in the field of text mining. We began by studying the theoretical basis behind this method and we have focused on two of its variants namely the neural PCA and kernel PCA. We used neural PCA for automatic categorization of text documents through an extraction of semantic concepts. The second contribution of our work is the use of PCA (neuronal and kernel) for the dimension reduction of textual documents through the automatic classification.
