DOAS: Efficient data owner authorized search over encrypted cloud data

Data outsourcing service can shift the local data storage and maintenance to cloud service provider (CSP) to ease the burden from data owner, but it brings the data security threats as CSP is always considered to honest-but-curious. Therefore, searchable encryption (SE) technique which allows cloud clients (including data owner and data user) to securely search over ciphertext through keywords and selectively retrieve files of interest is of prime importance. However, in practice, data user’s access permission always dynamically varies with data owner’s preferences. Moreover, existing SE schemes which are based on attribute-based encryption (ABE) incur heavy computational burden through attribution revocation and policy updating. To allow data owner to flexibly grant access permissions, we design a secure cryptographic primitive called as efficient data owner authorized search over encrypted data scheme through utilizing identity-based encryption (IBE) technique. The formal security analysis proves that our scheme is secure against chosen-plaintext attack (CPA) and chosen-keyword attack (CKA) without random oracle. Besides, empirical experiments over real-world dataset show that our scheme is efficient and feasible with regard to data access control.

The third Gravitational-Wave Transient Catalog (GWTC-3) describes signals detected with advanced LIGO and advanced Virgo up to the end of their third observing run. Updating the previous GWTC-2.1, we present candidate gravitational waves from compact binary coalescences during the second half of the third observing run (O3b) between 1 November 2019, 15∶00 Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) and 27 March 2020, 17∶00 UTC. There are 35 compact binary coalescence candidates identified by at least one of our search algorithms with a probability of astrophysical origin pastro>0.5. Of these, 18 were previously reported as low-latency public alerts, and 17 are reported here for the first time. Based upon estimates for the component masses, our O3b candidates with pastro>0.5 are consistent with gravitational-wave signals from binary black holes or neutron-star–black-hole binaries, and we identify none from binary neutron stars. However, from the gravitational-wave data alone, we are not able to measure matter effects that distinguish whether the binary components are neutron stars or black holes. The range of inferred component masses is similar to that found with previous catalogs, but the O3b candidates include the first confident observations of neutron-star–black-hole binaries. Including the 35 candidates from O3b in addition to those from GWTC-2.1, GWTC-3 contains 90 candidates found by our analysis with pastro>0.5 across the first three observing runs. These observations of compact binary coalescences present an unprecedented view of the properties of black holes and neutron stars.

Graphical Models for Multi-dialect Arabic Isolated Words Recognition

This paper presents the use of multiple hybrid systems for the recognition of isolated words from a large multi-dialect Arabic vocabulary. Such as the Hidden Markov models (HMM), Dynamic Bayesian networks (DBN) lack a discriminatory ability especially on speech recognition even if their progress is huge. Multi-Layer perceptrons (MLP) was applied in literature as an estimator of emission probabilities in HMM and proves it effectiveness. In order to ameliorate the results of recognition systems, we apply Support Vectors Machine (SVM) as an estimator of posterior probabilities since they are characterized by a high predictive power and discrimination. Moreover, they are based on a structural risk minimization (SRM) where the aim is to set up a classifier that minimizes a bound on the expected risk, rather than the empirical risk. In this work we have done a comparative study between three hybrid systems MLP/HMM, SVM/HMM and SVM/DBN and the standards models of HMM and DBN. In this paper, we describe the use of the hybrid model SVM/DBN for multi-dialect Arabic isolated words recognition. So, by using 67,132 speech files of Arabic isolated words, this work arises a comparative study of our acknowledgment system of it as the following: the use of especially the HMM standards leads to a recognition rate of 74.18%.as the average rate of 8 domains for everyone of the 4 dialects. Also, with the hybrid systems MLP/HMM and SVM/HMM we succeed in achieving the value of 77.74%.and 7806% respectively. Moreover, our proposed system SVM/DBN realizes the best performances, whereby, we achieve 87.67% as a recognition rate more than 83.01% obtained by GMM/DBN.

Kernel Methods have been successfully applied in different tasks and used on a variety of data sample sizes. Multiple Kernel Learning (MKL) and Multilayer Multiple Kernel Learning (MLMKL), as new families of kernel methods, consist of learning the optimal kernel from a set of predefined kernels by using an optimization algorithm. However, learning this optimal combination is considered to be an arduous task. Furthermore, existing algorithms often do not converge to the optimal solution (i.e., weight distribution). They achieve worse results than the simplest method, which is based on the average combination of base kernels, for some real-world applications. In this paper, we present a hybrid model that integrates two methods: Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Multiple Classifier (MC) methods. More precisely, we propose a multiple classifier framework of deep SVMs for classification tasks. We adopt the MC approach to train multiple SVMs based on multiple kernel in a multi-layer structure in order to avoid solving the complicated optimization tasks. Since the average combination of kernels gives high performance, we train multiple models with a predefined combination of kernels. Indeed, we apply a specific distribution of weights for each model. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, we conducted an extensive set of classification experiments on a number of benchmark data sets. Experimental results show the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed method as compared to various state-of-the-art MKL and MLMKL algorithms.

In this paper, classifying and indexing hierarchical video genres using Support Vector Machines (SVMs) are based on only audio features. In fact, segmentation parameters are extracted at block levels, which have a major benefit by capturing local temporal information. The main contribution of our study is to present a powerful combination between the two employed audio descriptors;Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC) and signal energy in order to classify a big YouTube dataset that includes multi-Arabic dialects video genres and even sub-genres: several sports analysis and various matches categories (foot-ball, basket-ball, hand-ball and volley-ball), both studio and fields news scenes over and above various multi-singer and multi-instruments music clips. Validation of this approach was carried out on over 18 hours of video span yielding a classification accuracy of 98,5% for genres, 97% for sports subgenres and 76% for music sub-genres. Finally we discuss SVM kernels performance on our proposed dataset.

The rapid increase in the number of older people with Alzheimer's disease (AD) and other forms of dementia represents one of the major challenges to the health and social care systems. Early detection of AD makes it possible for patients to access appropriate services and to benefit from new treatments and therapies, as and when they become available. The onset of AD starts many years before the clinical symptoms become clear. A biomarker that can measure the brain changes in this period would be useful for early diagnosis of AD. Potentially, the electroencephalogram (EEG) can play a valuable role in early detection of AD. Damage in the brain due to AD leads to changes in the information processing activity of the brain and the EEG which can be quantified as a biomarker. The objective of the study reported in this paper is to develop robust EEG-based biomarkers for detecting AD in its early stages. We present a new approach to quantify the slowing of the EEG, one of the most consistent features at different stages of dementia, based on changes in the EEG amplitudes (ΔEEG A ). The new approach has sensitivity and specificity values of 100% and 88.88%, respectively, and outperformed the Lempel-Ziv Complexity (LZC) approach in discriminating between AD and normal subjects.

Results are presented of searches for continuous gravitational waves from 20 accreting millisecond x-ray pulsars with accurately measured spin frequencies and orbital parameters, using data from the third observing run of the advanced LIGO and advanced Virgo detectors. The search algorithm uses a hidden Markov model, where the transition probabilities allow the frequency to wander according to an unbiased random walk, while the J-statistic maximum-likelihood matched filter tracks the binary orbital phase. Three narrow subbands are searched for each target, centered on harmonics of the measured spin frequency. The search yields 16 candidates, consistent with a false alarm probability of 30% per subband and target searched. These candidates, along with one candidate from an additional target-of-opportunity search done for SAX J1808.4−3658, which was in outburst during one month of the observing run, cannot be confidently associated with a known noise source. Additional follow-up does not provide convincing evidence that any are a true astrophysical signal. When all candidates are assumed nonastrophysical, upper limits are set on the maximum wave strain detectable at 95% confidence, h095%. The strictest constraint is h095%=4.7×10−26 from IGR J17062−6143. Constraints on the detectable wave strain from each target lead to constraints on neutron star ellipticity and r-mode amplitude, the strictest of which are ε95%=3.1×10−7 and α95%=1.8×10−5 respectively. This analysis is the most comprehensive and sensitive search of continuous gravitational waves from accreting millisecond x-ray pulsars to date.

computing Environment for Human Learning (CEHL) systems are based on the use of new technologies to improve the quality of learning. However, their training suffers from a crucial problem mainly in the construction of the adapted learning process according to the needs of the learner. In fact thousands of educational resources are available through the web today. Therefore, the learner gets lost and hesitated to choose the most adequate educational resources according to their preferences and state of knowledge. This paper aims to define reusable, accessible and adapted educational resources. For reusing phase, we propose to define a composed educational resource by assembling existing resources through an appropriate schema called also a narrative structure. For the adaptation, we propose a new general learner model. We treat not only the pedagogic aspect, but also the psychological aspect of the learner by including models from cognitive theories such as the MBTI model (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator).

Collective measurements on identically prepared quantum systems can extract more information than local measurements, thereby enhancing information-processing efficiency. Although this nonclassical phenomenon has been known for two decades, it has remained a challenging task to demonstrate the advantage of collective measurements in experiments. Here we introduce a general recipe for performing deterministic collective measurements on two identically prepared qubits based on quantum walks. Using photonic quantum walks, we realize experimentally an optimized collective measurement with fidelity 0.9946 without post selection. As an application, we achieve the highest tomographic efficiency in qubit state tomography to date. Our work offers an effective recipe for beating the precision limit of local measurements in quantum state tomography and metrology. Background: Decades of steady improvements in life expectancy in Europe slowed down from around 2011, well before the COVID-19 pandemic, for reasons which remain disputed. We aimed to assess how changes in risk factors and cause-specific death rates in different European countries related to changes in life expectancy in those countries before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: We used data and methods from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study 2021 to compare changes in life expectancy at birth, causes of death, and population exposure to risk factors in 16 European Economic Area countries (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden) and the four UK nations (England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales) for three time periods: 1990–2011, 2011–19, and 2019–21. Changes in life expectancy and causes of death were estimated with an established life expectancy cause-specific decomposition method, and compared with summary exposure values of risk factors for the major causes of death influencing life expectancy. Findings: All countries showed mean annual improvements in life expectancy in both 1990–2011 (overall mean 0·23 years [95% uncertainty interval [UI] 0·23 to 0·24]) and 2011–19 (overall mean 0·15 years [0·13 to 0·16]). The rate of improvement was lower in 2011–19 than in 1990–2011 in all countries except for Norway, where the mean annual increase in life expectancy rose from 0·21 years (95% UI 0·20 to 0·22) in 1990–2011 to 0·23 years (0·21 to 0·26) in 2011–19 (difference of 0·03 years). In other countries, the difference in mean annual improvement between these periods ranged from –0·01 years in Iceland (0·19 years [95% UI 0·16 to 0·21] vs 0·18 years [0·09 to 0·26]), to –0·18 years in England (0·25 years [0·24 to 0·25] vs 0·07 years [0·06 to 0·08]).
