The ability to synthesize convincing human speech has become easier due to the availability of speech generation tools. This necessitates the development of forensics methods that can authenticate and attribute speech signals. In this paper, we examine a speech attribution task, which identifies the origin of a speech signal. Our proposed method known as Synthetic Speech Attribution Transformer (SSAT) converts speech signals into mel spectrograms and uses a self-supervised pretrained transformer for attribution. This transformer is pretrained on two large publicly available audio datasets: Audio Set and LibriSpeech. We finetune the pretrained transformer on three speech attribution datasets: the DARPA SemaFor Audio Attribution dataset, the ASVspoof2019 dataset, and the 2022 IEEE SP Cup dataset. SSAT achieves high closed-set accuracy on all datasets (99.8% on ASVspoof2019 dataset, 96.3% on SP Cup dataset, and 93.4% on DARPA SemaFor Audio Attribution dataset). We also investigate the method's ability to generalize to unknown speech generation methods (open-set scenario). SSAT has high performance, achieving an open-set accuracy of 90.2% on the ASVspoof2019 dataset and 88.45% on DARPA SemaFor Audio Attribution dataset. Finally, we show that our approach is robust to typical compression rates used by YouTube for speech signals. © 2023, Society for Imaging Science and Technology.

Weakly Secure Summation with Colluding Users

In secure summation, K users, each holds an input, wish to compute the sum of the inputs at a server without revealing any information about all the inputs even if the server may collude with an arbitrary subset of users. In this work, we relax the security and colluding constraints, where the set of inputs whose information is prohibited from leakage is from a predetermined collection of sets (e.g., any set of up to S inputs) and the set of colluding users is from another predetermined collection of sets (e.g., any set of up to T users). For arbitrary collection of security input sets and colluding user sets, we characterize the optimal randomness assumption, i.e., the minimum number of key bits that need to be held by the users, per input bit, for weakly secure summation to be feasible, which generally involves solving a linear program. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Parametric Joint Target Detection and Localization Using Message Passing for Distributed Passive MIMO Radar

This paper addresses the challenge of joint target detection and localization with a distributed dual-channel passive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar, which comprises multiple non-cooperative illuminators of opportunity and receivers. In conventional approaches, the target position is typically obtained by conducting exhaustive grid search for the peak of the test statistics. To reduce the errors due to grid mismatch, the number of grid cells needs to be large, leading to high computational complexity and hampering realtime processing capabilities. Moreover, these approaches are ineffective under strong direct-path interference. In this paper, an efficient factor graph approach for joint target detection and localization is proposed, which detects and localizes the target through parameter estimation, significantly reducing the computational complexity while maintaining high robustness. In particular, we introduce a binary target existence variable to represent the presence or absence of a target and reformulate the problem as the computation of the marginal posterior probabilities of unknown parameters. Then an efficient message passing algorithm is developed to solve the reformulated problem. Extensive simulation results demonstrate that the proposed approach outperforms state-of-the-art approaches in various scenarios, while with much lower computational complexity. © 1991-2012 IEEE.

Shape from polarization (SfP) benefits from advancements like polarization cameras for single-shot normal estimation, but its performance heavily relies on light conditions. This paper proposes SfPUEL, an end-to-end SfP method to jointly estimate surface normal and material under unknown environment light. To handle this challenging light condition, we design a transformer-based framework for enhancing the perception of global context features. We further propose to integrate photometric stereo (PS) priors from pretrained models to enrich extracted features for high-quality normal predictions. As metallic and dielectric materials exhibit different BRDFs, SfPUEL additionally predicts dielectric and metallic material segmentation to further boost performance. Experimental results on synthetic and our collected real-world dataset demonstrate that SfPUEL significantly outperforms existing SfP and single-shot normal estimation methods. Event-intensity asymmetric stereo systems have emerged as a promising approach for robust 3D perception in dynamic and challenging environments by integrating event cameras with frame-based sensors in different views. However, existing methods often suffer from overfitting and poor generalization due to limited dataset sizes and lack of scene diversity in the event domain. To address these issues, we propose a zero-shot framework that utilizes monocular depth estimation and stereo matching models pretrained on diverse image datasets. Our approach introduces a visual prompting technique to align the representations of frames and events, allowing the use of off-the-shelf stereo models without additional training. Furthermore, we introduce a monocular cue-guided disparity refinement module to improve robustness across static and dynamic regions by incorporating monocular depth information from foundation models. Extensive experiments on real-world datasets demonstrate the superior zero-shot evaluation performance and enhanced generalization ability of our method compared to existing approaches. © 2024 Neural information processing systems foundation. Point-of-Interest (POI) recommendation plays an important role in a wide range of location-based social network applications, aiming to accurately predicting users' next visits based on their historical check-in records. Previous efforts have primarily focused on the modifications of existing sequential models, neglecting the fact that POI visiting sequences typically involve continuous state transformation of geographical and intention signals. Additionally, the diverse time span between check-ins require the model to properly recognize user's multi-granular preference. While recent advances of State Space Model (SSM) have revealed their potential in handling intricate temporal signals, we propose a state-based model that is tailored for spatio-temporal POI sequences. On top of traditional SSMs that are typically limited to linear sequences like Mamba, we propose GeoMamba, which customizes the model states to accommodate the spatio-temporal sequences, especially fitting for POI recommendations. Specifically, while the approximation operator HiPPO sets the foundation of linear SSMs, we introduce a novel GaPPO operator that extends the model's state space into graph-represented geographical domains. This innovation allows us to construct locational SSM encoders that seamlessly integrate users' spatio-temporal characteristics. The sequence-aware outputs of GeoMamba are further processed to generate multi-scale behavior representations. Humans exhibit a remarkable ability to learn quickly from a limited number of labeled samples, a capability that starkly contrasts with that of current machine learning systems. Unsupervised Few-Shot Learning (U-FSL) seeks to bridge this divide by reducing reliance on annotated datasets during initial training phases. In this work, we first quantitatively assess the impacts of Masked Image Modeling (MIM) and Contrastive Learning (CL) on few-shot learning tasks. Our findings highlight the respective limitations of MIM and CL in terms of discriminative and generalization abilities, which contribute to their underperformance in U-FSL contexts. To address these trade-offs between generalization and discriminability in unsupervised pretraining, we introduce a novel paradigm named Masked Image Contrastive Modeling (MICM). MICM creatively combines the targeted object learning strength of CL with the generalized visual feature learning capability of MIM, significantly enhancing its efficacy in downstream few-shot learning inference. Extensive experimental analyses confirm the advantages of MICM, demonstrating significant improvements in both generalization and discrimination capabilities for few-shot learning. Our comprehensive quantitative evaluations further substantiate the superiority of MICM, showing that our two-stage U-FSL framework based on MICM markedly outperforms existing leading baselines. W-type barium-nickel ferrite(BaNi_(2)Fe_(16)O_(27))is a highly promising material for electromagnetic wave(EMW)absorption be-cause of its magnetic loss capability for EMW,low cost,large-scale production potential,high-temperature resistance,and excellent chemical ***,the poor dielectric loss of magnetic ferrites hampers their utilization,hindering enhancement in their EMW-absorption *** efficient strategies that improve the EMW-absorption performance of ferrite is highly desired but re-mains ***,an efficient strategy substituting Ba^(2+)with rare earth La^(3+)in W-type ferrite was proposed for the preparation of novel La-substituted ferrites(Ba_(1-x)LaxNi_(2)Fe_(15.4)O_(27)).The influences of La^(3+)substitution on ferrites’EMW-absorption performance and the dissipative mechanism toward EMW were systematically explored and ***^(3+)efficiently induced lattice defects,enhanced defect-induced polarization,and slightly reduced the ferrites’bandgap,enhancing the dielectric properties of the ***^(3+)also enhanced the ferromagnetic resonance loss and strengthened magnetic *** effects considerably improved the EMW-absorption perform-ance of Ba_(1-x)LaxNi_(2)Fe_(15.4)O_(27)compared with pure W-type *** x=0.2,the best EMW-absorption performance was achieved with a minimum reflection loss of-55.6 dB and effective absorption bandwidth(EAB)of 3.44 GHz.

Fundamental Limits of Multiple-Access Integrated Sensing and Communication Systems

A state-dependent discrete memoryless multiple access channel is considered to model an integrated sensing and communication system, where two transmitters wish to convey messages to a receiver while simultaneously estimating the state parameter sequences through echo signals. In particular, the sensing state parameters are assumed to be correlated with the channel state. In this setup, improved inner and outer bounds for capacity-distortion region are derived. The inner bound is based on an achievable scheme that combines message cooperation and joint compression of past transmitted codewords and echo signals at each transmitter, resulting in unified cooperative communication and sensing. The outer bound is based on the ideas of dependence balance for communication rate, genie-aided state estimator and rate-limited constraints on sensing distortion. The proposed inner and outer bounds are proved to improve the state-of-the-art bounds. Finally, numerical examples are provided to demonstrate that our new inner and outer bounds strictly improve the existing results. © 1963-2012 IEEE.
