Augmented Reality is a variation of Virtual Environment (VE) in Virtual Reality (VR). Virtual Reality technologies Virtual Environment makes user experiences immersion inside a synthetic environment and user cannot see the real world. In contrast, Augmented Reality (AR) medium of information added to the real world in registration with the world to combine virtual objects and real world. Technically, Augmented Reality is able to enhance all five senses by adding digital or computer generated information such as images, audio, video, interaction and overlaying them over in physical world. Its most commonly use is visual. Augmented Reality allows the user to see the virtual object blended in real world environment. To apply Augmented Reality to applications used for illustration the architecture or infrastructure of building, 3D visual model is a content which is good way to show obviously architecture's element because it is able to display the appearance of each building part separately responding to camera perspective in real-time. That means AR system have to re-render the digital object every time the viewer changes position even a tiny bit as temporal registration. Therefore, the computations for three-dimensional computer graphics must be considered about rendering system on the observed devices because time lags could be occurred when lacking computational speed while it is operating the imagery overlay on the top of the physical world for each frame. There are mainly constraints that are limited the AR system performance such as limited memory and limited computational capability. To enhance the limitations of handheld devices, this research applies Relief Mapping algorithm to 3D model in Augmented Reality technology to reduce the number of polygons on the facade of Sino Portuguese Architecture which consist of many bas-relief patterns on their facades. Our system uses game engine, Unity3D, for real-time rendering and Vuforia SDK implemented augmented reality

In support of the gerontechnology development of university social responsibility for community and educational requirements, this study develops a virtual-physical interactive cognition game box for elders. After interviewing the care needs of community development association members, we propose a production prototype that combines science technology and art design with virtual-physical integration upon the considerations of technical feasibility and HCI design. The prototype was constructed by integrating the 3D shape design, laser engraving design/implementation, character design and animation, game engineering, data modeling, the internet of things (IoT), and so on. To further improve the Virtual-Physical Interactive Cognition Game Box prototype, several user experience activities were conducted in the community and the university. It has also been introduced in related courses in the form of cases integrating interdisciplinary works into virtual-physical interaction designs for students. Data engineering will be the next step in the future. © 2021 ECBIOS 2021. All rights reserved.

This paper describes an interdisciplinary design studio that utilizes concepts and methodologies intended to create a comprehensive approach to the organization of building design through the merger of several techniques. These techniques include 1) collaborative learning and design, 2) interdisciplinary team teaching, and 3) hypertext courseware and learning modules utilizing multi-tasking workstations. The studio merges the preceding teaching paradigms, building on current research and the experience of the faculty. The studio establishes the premise that architectural design studio and engineering laboratories (structural and mechanical) need to be organized across departmental boundaries as team oriented activities. The learning modules are being developed initially in a multimedia format (analog video and hypertext). They will be finalized in an entirely hypertext format using digital video and browsers, allowing latitude for the development of additional material in the future. The paper discusses the continual shift between synthetic and analytic processes in the context of problem solving, methods of representation, design assignments, methods and process.

In this paper, we develop air quality monitoring material based on the concept of Maker and using a simple and low-cost device development board, combined with temperature and humidity, PM 2.5 sensing elements. According to the teaching materials, the integration of the latest air pollution-related knowledge, the development of AR multimedia interactive teaching materials and monitoring instruction into the national air pollution environmental education in the environmental education courses of high degree students in the elementary school. This study compares learning motivation and learning performance of learning air pollution related knowledge and concept using different learning method, including multimedia teaching materials, air quality monitor instruments and augmented reality materials. © 2017 Asia-Pacific Society for Computers in Education. A Feasibility Evaluation of a Combined Solar and Wind Energy System in Taiwan

Solar energy and wind energy can be converted to electrical power by photovoltaic (PV) cell and wind turbine, respectively. A combined generation system using the both energies has widely been adopted in the world especially for isolated areas with high levels of irradiation and wind speed. In this paper, solar radiation upon a single-axis tracked panel and wind speed data in the northern, central and southern regions of Taiwan are analyzed according to different time periods. Both the total energy of the combined system and associated energy ratios are determined too. It is found that the solar and wind energy compensate each other very well, irrespective of the regions studied, and reveal a balance situation near April and September. Generally, during the winter months, wind potential energy is higher while solar energy is lower and vice versa during the summer months. That is, electricity generated by PV cell and wind turbine can be delivered to the same grid system to enhance its reliability. Several numerical examples of design areas for PV cell and wind turbine in the combined system are proposed for a specified power demand.

The narrative messages of digital media are delivered to the audience through "video," "voice," "text," and other materials. In this article, two issues for the three materials-"video," "voice," and "text"-Are explored by two experimental methods respectively;two experimental data can also be mutually compared to clarify experimental results. In the first part, the strength comparison of narrative benefits of three materials used in digital media is explored. In the second part, whether there are interaction and associated benefits between each other when the three materials are used in narrative is studied. It is the real benefits of the digital narrative in different materials reacting in the audience are researched, thus providing the feedback the focus points of giving correct determination and selection in creating related digital audio and video works. © 2017 IEEE.

Kaohsiung Pictorial is one of the regular propaganda pieces published by Kaohsiung City Government. With pictures and text, the construction and historical customs of the city are introduced. Consequently, the goal of this study is to analyze the images of its covers, the meaning behind their design, the relations between society and culture, and the trends of the time, by using the content analysis method. The research period was from 1980 to 2010;a total of 274 versions were checked. By virtue of the research process, the industrial and economic transformations, the political development, geological environment, customs and cultural characteristics of the city were further understood. The results showed that: (1) a cover image is an important tool for projecting impression. (2) "Place" as a subject is the main category. (3) The reports were written from the perspective of local residents and they revealed the rise of democracy. (4) Significant changeover was caused due to the parading of governing party officials. (5) The change in the words used and the styles present the transformation in social trends. (6) Labor images show the unique industrial activities and economic circumstances in Kaohsiung. (7) Various explanations of festivals and interesting happenings were made according to the historical background and the attributes of the governing party. (8) The concept of city development focused on recreation as well as the preservation and reconstruction of asset. (9) Kaohsiung Pictorial is one of the media for the Kaohsiung government to proclaim its political philosophy and governing roles. © 2015 Taylor & Francis Group, London.

Virtual reality (VR) has been used widely in various landmarks by creating virtual environment, which allow audiences to sightseeing any places by walkthrough, in the perception of the virtual into the real place. But walkthrough on VR almost used a low details environment because of limit system. Especially, some part of area that does not allow audiences inside, use of texture image on surface plane instead of the actual model. So the audience cannot perceive the depth of an object and lack of aesthetic in VR. In this paper introduce a technique to increasing recognition of objects by creating virtual object, using images of real object implement motion parallax and transparent parallax specular mapping into the surface of plane. When an object is observed from the front of image plane with walkthrough, an object look like a convex object exists in VR.

As smartphones are going universal, the quantity of downloaded applications is rocketing. How to classify applications by page has been the major concern facing users. However, most cellphone-related designs are at the service of young generations, ignoring middle-Aged groups who use cellphones at increasingly higher frequencies. This study, through literature review, focused on three paging styles relatively more suitable to middle-Aged users: Leading paging style, Scrolling paging style, and Folder paging style. We adopted an ANOVA repeated-measure experimental design. Subjects took three experiments on paging styles, in order to discuss the three paging styles with respect to usability. Subsequently, we proposed the design on smartphone paging style. The findings indicated that, as far as middle-Aged users are concerned, of the highest-usability is the Leading paging style, followed by Scrolling paging style and Folder paging style respectively. © 2017 IEEE.
