The problem of robust, global asymptotic stabilization of a rigid body is hampered by major topological obstructions. These obstructions prevent a continuous state feedback from solving the problem and also lead to robustness issues when(non-hybrid) discontinuous feedback is applied. In this paper, we extend a hybrid control strategy proposed in a companion paper for robust, global asymptotic stabilization of rigid body attitude to the case where translation is also considered. Through Lyapunov analysis, we develop quaternionbased hysteretic hybrid control laws in the kinematic and dynamic settings. In the dynamic setting, two control laws are derived: one from an energy-based Lyapunov function and one by backstepping. Robustness to measurement noise is asserted by employing recently developed stability theory for hybrid systems. A comparison between discontinuous and hysteretic feedback under measurement noise is shown in simulation.

Global asymptotic stabilization of the attitude of a rigid body is hindered by major topological *** fact, this task is impossible to accomplish with continuous state feedback. Moreover, when the attitude is parametrized with unit quaternions, it becomes impossible to design a globally stabilizing state feedback(even discontinuous) that is robust to measurement noise. In this paper, we present a quaternion-based hysteretic hybrid feedback that robustly globally asymptotically stabilizes the attitude of a rigid *** hybrid control laws are derived through Lyapunov analysis in kinematic and dynamic settings. In the dynamic setting,we provide two control laws: one derived from an energybased Lyapunov function and another based on *** the change in these Lyapunov functions due to switching of a logic variable yields a straightforward form for state-based hysteresis. Being able to predict the coming seizure can impressively improve the quality of the patients' lives since they can be warned to avoid doing risky activities via a prediction system. Here, a locally linear neuro fuzzy model is used to predict the EEG time series. Subsequently, this model is utilized in accompany with Singular Spectrum Analysis for prediction. Afterward, an information theoretic criterion is used to select a reliable subset of input variables which contain more information about the target signal. Comparison of three mentioned methods on one hand shows that SSA enables our prediction model to extract the main patterns of the EEG signal and highly improves the prediction accuracy. On the other hand, applying the method of channel selection to the model yields more accurate prediction. It is shown that fusion of some certain signals provides more information about the target and considerably improves the prediction ability.

Random pulse width modulation (RPWM) technique has been employed to generate the control signals of Vienna-type rectifier. This technique is compared to two conventional techniques (Hysteresis-band and ramp comparison with fix frequency carrier signal). Simulation results are illustrated for three approaches. The results verify significantly reduction of high frequency harmonics magnitude;and consequently overcome electromagnetic interference (EMI) problem in this active type of rectifier.

Actuator systems are employed widely in aerospace, transportation and industrial processes to provide power to critical loads, such as aircraft control surfaces. They must operate reliably and accurately in order for the vehicle /process to complete successfully its designated mission. Incipient actuator failure conditions may severely endanger the operational integrity of the vehicle /process and compromise its mission. The ability to maintain a stable and credible operation, even in the presence of incipient failures, is of paramount importance to accomplish "must achieve" mission objectives. This paper introduces a novel methodology for the fault-tolerant design of critical subsystems, such as an Electro-Mechanical Actuator (EMA), that takes advantage of on-line, real-time estimates of the Remaining Useful Life (RUL) or Time-to-Failure (TTF) of a failing component and reconfigures the available control authority by trading off system performance with control activity. The primary goal is to complete critical mission objectives within a time window dictated by prognostic algorithms so that the fault mode is accommodated and an acceptable level of performance maintained for the duration of the mission. The proposed fault-tolerant control design is mathematically rigorous, generic and applicable to a variety of application domains. An EMA is used to illustrate the efficacy of the proposed approach.
