Comparative Analysis of Epidemiological Features of HIV/aids Cases Aged Over and Under 50 Years Old—China,2010-2022

Introduction:Recent data indicate a year-on-year increase in the proportion of human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome(HIV/aids)cases reported among individuals aged≥50 in *** study compares the epidemiological characteristics of HIV/aids cases in populations above and below 50 years of *** doing so,it seeks to scrutinize the current epidemiological landscape of HIV within these distinct age cohorts and suggest tailored interventions for each ***:We utilized data from the Chinese HIV/aids Comprehensive Response Information Management System for our comparative *** regression analysis was employed to assess the trends in standardized detection ***:In China,the number of newly reported HIV/aids cases in the 15-49 age group increased from 51,436 in 2010 to 55,397 in 2022,while it increased from 11,751 in 2010 to 51,856 in 2022 in the group aged≥50 *** years have seen a greater proportion and detection rate of HIV/aids cases among the≥50 age demographic compared to the 15-49 age *** 2022,significant statistical differences were observed between males and females in both age cohorts with respect to education,marital status,occupation,mode of transmission,location of diagnosis,and ***:The observed trend of a rising proportion of HIV/aids cases in individuals aged 50 years and older necessitates heightened *** is imperative that we develop and implement interventions specifically designed to prevent and control the transmission of HIV within this demographic.

Introduction:The genetic diversity of human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)-1 subtypes significantly influences the effectiveness of diagnostic tools,antiretroviral therapy(ART),and vaccine *** study aimed to assess the regional and national prevalence of HIV-1 subtypes and recombinants in China between 2004 and 2023 using pol gene segment ***:We analyzed annual HIV/aids reports and pol gene segment sequences from all Chinese provinces between 2004 and *** distribution of HIV-1 subtypes and recombinants across China and within its regions was estimated by multiplying the proportion of each subtype,circulating recombinant form(CRF),and unique recombinant form(URF)in each province by the corresponding number of reported HIV ***:Analysis of 94,476 pol gene segments from 31 provinces revealed that CRF01_AE strain accounted for 32.1%of HIV-1 infections during 2004–2023,while CRF07_BC lineage represented 39.1%.CRF08_BC strain contributed 9.2%,followed by subtype B(8.7%)and CRF55_01B(2.4%).Other CRFs collectively comprised 6.0%of infections,while URFs and other subtypes accounted for 1.3%and 1.1%,***:The study revealed significant regional variations and temporal changes in the proportions of HIV-1 CRFs,subtypes,and URFs across China,emphasizing the importance of continued surveillance of strain distribution patterns.

Summary Hepatitis C virus(HCV)infection is a major public health problem in *** 2016,the World Health Organization(WHO)proposed a goal to eliminate viral hepatitis as a public health threat by 2030,and in 2018,the national Health Commission of China launched Hepatitis C Elimination Action by *** C control and prevention has made significant progress in China in recent *** implement the“Healthy China 2030”plan and the Healthy China Initiative(2019–2030),and to contribute to the global target of eliminating viral hepatitis as a public health threat by 2030,the national Health Commission of China and eight other government departments jointly issued the national Action Plan for Eliminating Hepatitis C as a Public Health Threat(2021–2030)(hereinafter referred to as the“national Plan”)in *** national Plan has an overarching goal and 15 specific targets that cover health education,comprehensive prevention interventions,testing and treatment,and capacity *** national Plan introduces key tasks and strategies of“five strengthenings,one expanding,and one implementation,”i.e.,strengthening health education,comprehensive prevention,referral and treatment,drug supply,and information management;expanding testing;and implementing relevant medical insurance *** national Plan also proposes key guaranteeing measures of“four intensifications and one mobilization,”i.e.,intensification of organizational leadership,capacity building,scientific research and international cooperation,and supervision and fulfillment;mobilization of social *** national Plan is an important component of the Healthy China initiative,adhering to the integration of treatment and prevention and deepening the“integration of medical treatment,medical insurance,and medicine supplies.”In this review,we describe the national Plan and discuss its challenges and prospects.

Purpose: To understand the geographic origins, transmission hotspots, and drug resistance mutations (DRMs) of HIV-1 CRF08_BC in Zhejiang Province, China. Methods: This study analyzed HIV-1 CRF08_BC pol sequences collected between 2020 and 2023. Bayesian inference was employed to investigate temporal epidemic trends, while HIV-TRACE and MCODE were used to identify transmission clusters (TCs), key hotspots and super-spreaders. DRMs associated with CRF08_BC were also characterized. Additionally, demographic data were integrated with these findings, allowing for a description of the transmission dynamics. Results: This study revealed that CRF08_BC strains in Zhejiang likely originated from Guangxi, with significant transmission among individuals aged 50 and older, particularly those with low educational levels. Molecular transmission analysis showed that 58.9% of CRF08_BC sequences were in TCs, with geographic concentrations in Taizhou (TZ) and Lishui (LS). 14 large clusters maintained effective reproductive numbers (Re) above 1, representing considerable epidemic growth. Hangzhou (HZ) emerged as a key transmission hub, with 10 TCs showing active transmission. LS established strong epidemiological links with HZ, Ningbo (NB), Taizhou (TZ), and Wenzhou (WZ), creating a pattern of viral spread radiating from LS to surrounding areas. DRMs were identified in 76 cases (6.0%), with NNRTI and NRTI mutations exhibiting distinct geographic clustering. Conclusions: The CRF08_BC strains in Zhejiang likely originated from Guangxi and are mainly found in individuals aged 50 and older with low education. The current epidemic hotspots are in TZ and LS, where NNRTI and NRTI mutations are clustered, significantly impacting treatment efficacy. © Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2025.
