In conventional servo system with transmission mechanisms, the transmission backlash seems to be an inevitable phenomenon in many applications. Excessive backlash can lead to relative motion between the servo motor and the load, resulting in response delays, instability, and oscillations, consequently causing a decline in the dynamic performance of the system. To mitigate the negative effects of transmission backlash, this paper proposes a model-based backstepping adaptive control algorithm and a switching compensation approach tailored to transmission backlash. A feed-forward control gap compensation method is suggested. Leveraging identified servo system parameter information, this method achieves compensation and suppression of the nonlinearity caused by backlash. The efficacy of the proposed method is verified through theoretical analysis and simulation experiments, which also guaranteed its capability to effectively enhance the tracking accuracy and stability of the servo system while suppressing undesirable phenomena caused by backlash.

Code Pre-trained Models (CodePTMs) based vulnerability detection have achieved promising results over recent years. However, these models struggle to generalize as they typically learn superficial mapping from source code to labels instead of understanding the root causes of code vulnerabilities, resulting in poor performance in real-world scenarios beyond the training instances. To tackle this challenge, we introduce VulLLM, a novel framework that integrates multi-task learning with Large Language Models (LLMs) to effectively mine deep-seated vulnerability features. Specifically, we construct two auxiliary tasks beyond the vulnerability detection task. First, we utilize the vulnerability patches to construct a vulnerability localization task. Second, based on the vulnerability features extracted from patches, we leverage GPT-4 to construct a vulnerability interpretation task. VulLLM innovatively augments vulnerability classification by leveraging generative LLMs to understand complex vulnerability patterns, thus compelling the model to capture the root causes of vulnerabilities rather than overfitting to spurious features of a single task. The experiments conducted on six large datasets demonstrate that VulLLM surpasses seven state-of-the-art models in terms of effectiveness, generalization, and robustness. © 2024, CC BY.

When the traditional SDIF algorithm is applied to the binning of jittered signals, the jitter of the PRI leads to a cumulative dispersion phenomenon, so that the accumulated value never exceeds the detection threshold, leading to the failure of the SDIF algorithm. Based on this, the algorithm is improved on the basis of the traditional SDIF algorithm, combined with some of the literature and the expertise learnt. The experimental simulation results show that the improved SDIF algorithm has better results than the traditional SDIF algorithm in handling jitter signals.

When the traditional PRI transform algorithm is used to sort jittered signals, the algorithm will fail when the jitter is greater than 5%, and the traditional PRI transform algorithm is not ideal for sorting sinusoidal pulse sequences, slip pulse sequences, and a mixture of these three pulse sequences. Based on this, the algorithm is improved on the basis of the traditional PRI transform algorithm, combined with the expertise learned.

In a radar signal sorting system, sorting based on PRI features is an important part of the system, and PRI classification is generally divided into two parts, one is to determine the PRI value, and the other is to perform sequence retrieval based on PRI. This paper first describes the PRI characteristics of several typical radar signals, and then introduces in detail several classical PRI feature extraction algorithms, such as the dynamic extended correlation algorithm, the statistical histogram algorithm and the CDIF algorithm, and carries out theoretical analysis and experimental validation of these algorithms.

Inner-approximate Reachability Computation via Zonotopic Boundary Analysis

Inner-approximate reachability analysis involves calculating subsets of reachable sets, known as inner-approximations. This analysis is crucial in the fields of dynamic systems analysis and control theory as it provides a reliable estimation of the set of states that a system can reach from given initial states at a specific time instant. In this paper, we study the inner-approximate reachability analysis problem based on the set-boundary reachability method for systems modelled by ordinary differential equations, in which the computed inner-approximations are represented with zonotopes. The set-boundary reachability method computes an inner-approximation by excluding states reached from the initial set’s boundary. The effectiveness of this method is highly dependent on the efficient extraction of the exact boundary of the initial set. To address this, we propose methods leveraging boundary and tiling matrices that can efficiently extract and refine the exact boundary of the initial set represented by zonotopes. Additionally, we enhance the exclusion strategy by contracting the outer-approximations in a flexible way, which allows for the computation of less conservative inner-approximations. To evaluate the proposed method, we compare it with state-of-the-art methods against a series of benchmarks. The numerical results demonstrate that our method is not only efficient but also accurate in computing inner-approximations. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Higher Order Integral Cryptanalysis of Zodiac

This paper mainly focuses on the security of Zodiac against integral cryptanalysis. Firstly, a systematic method is given to extend an integral distinguisher of Feistel ciphers with PS or SP round functions into a higher order integral distinguisher. Secondly, this method is applied to Zodiac, and a full-round (16-round) integral distinguisher is given. Taking the properties of the linear transformation into consideration, it is showed that extending an integral distinguisher into a higher order one can be reduced into decomposition of linear spaces into direct sums. At last, some key-recovery attacks against full round Zodiac are applied using distinguishers with 15-/13-round, respectively.

With the growing popularity of API-driven multiservice application (mashup) development, the burgeoning web APIs have left developers drowning in the sea of web API selections. Matching developers with the most appropriate APIs is the key to improving user satisfaction and promoting more popular web applications. As a result, more and more researchers pay attention to web API recommender systems based on collaborative filtering. However, employing collaborative filtering to recommend APIs is challenging due to the severe sparsity of mashup and API interactions. To address this problem, we propose a probabilistic generative model, called the Binary-API Topic model (BAT), to parameterize mashups and APIs. Technically, BAT is equipped with a mechanism to extract binary-APIs and predict unknown pairwise interactions. To improve generality and capture more relevance from a limited number of interactions, we learn binary-API topics by directly modeling the generation of API co-occurrence patterns across the repository (all mashup collections from ***). The main advantage of BAT is that it preserves API co-occurrence patterns in model learning and exploits the rich global relevance. Finally, through extensive experiments, we demonstrate that BAT can achieve the highest performance on the sparse real-world data set.

An adaptive fault detection strategy for Cz crystal growth process

The monitoring and fault detection for the Czochralski (Cz) crystal growth process is important to ensure the quality of the produced mono-crystalline silicon. The Cz process is a typical multi-modes industrial process, which makes the detection difficult in distinguish the change caused by the fault or mode switching. In this paper, an adaptive fault detection strategy for Cz crystal growth process is proposed. Firstly, quality-related variables are selected from numerous process variables, based on which the training dataset is constructed. Then, a fault detection model is built based on slowly-varying feature and statics indicator. A model switching strategy and updating algorithm are designed to handle the abnormal situation caused by the mode switching or fault occurrence. Three representative experiments are conducted to verify the performance of the proposed strategy, including numerical cases, a publicly available dataset, and Cz crystal growth process from our laboratory. © 1963-2012 IEEE.
