We present a comprehensive technique for accurately extracting the quality (Q) factor when nonlinear damping is taken into account, using two-dimensional (2D) molybdenum disulfide (MoS 2 ) nanoelectromechanical systems (NEMS). We experimentally demonstrate linear to Duffing nonlinear resonances by gradually increasing the radio-frequency (RF) driving voltage (v RF ), with either softening or hardening behavior observed in these 2D NEMS resonators. Through a theoretical model, we find that when nonlinear damping dominates, the nonlinear damping coefficient η can be accurately extracted through iteratively fitting to the Duffing nonlinear resonances and then fitting to the relationship between the full width at half maximum (Δf) vs. frequency at the peak amplitude (f peak ), for nonlinear resonances with either hardening or softening. By extracting the dissipation parameters, we model the v RF tuning of Q factor, which is consistent with experimental data showing ΔQ/Q= 347%. The results provide important insights into the nonlinear damping in 2D NEMS resonators, and provide a technique for modeling the Q factor dependence on electrical driving voltages.

Hybridization of evolutionary algorithm and deep reinforcement learning for multi-objective orienteering optimization

Multi-objective orienteering problems (MO-OPs) are classical multi-objective routing problems and have received a lot of attention in the past decades. This study seeks to solve MO-OPs through a problem-decomposition framework, that is, a MO-OP is decomposed into a multi-objective knapsack problem (MOKP) and a travelling salesman problem (TSP). The MOKP and TSP are then solved by a multi-objective evolutionary algorithm (MOEA) and a deep reinforcement learning (DRL) method, respectively. While the MOEA module is for selecting cities, the DRL module is for planning a Hamiltonian path for these cities. An iterative use of these two modules drives the population towards the Pareto front of MO-OPs. The effectiveness of the proposed method is compared against NSGA-II and NSGA-III on various types of MO-OP instances. Experimental results show that our method exhibits the best performance on almost all the test instances, and has shown strong generalization ability. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. Interannual variability of short rains in Tanzania and the influences from ENSO and the Indian Ocean Dipole

Tanzania is mainly subject to a bimodal rainfall pattern, characterized by two distinct seasons: the long rains, occurring from March to May, and the short rains, which typically take place from October to December (OND). Short rains are usually less intense but still significantly influence local agriculture. Therefore, with station-based observations and reanalysis data, the current paper examines the interannual variability of OND precipitation in Tanzania from 1993 to 2022 and explores the possible impacts from El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and the Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) as well as the mechanisms. It is found that the Tanzania OND precipitation is above (below) normal in 1997, 2006, 2011, and 2019 (1993, 1998, 2005, and 2016). The composite difference between wet (dry) years and the climatology indicates that the anomalous lower-level convergence (divergence) and upward (downward) motion are the critical circulation characters for above (below) precipitation. Further analysis indicates ENSO and the IOD are the two main oceanic systems modulating OND precipitation in Tanzania. El Niño and a positive IOD could induce easterly anomalies and weaken the Walker circulation over the Indian Ocean, consequently leading to lower-level convergence in water vapor flux, upward anomalies, and more than normal precipitation in Tanzania. In contrast, La Niña and a negative IOD produce opposite circulation anomalies and less than normal precipitation over Tanzania. Moreover, through partial correlation and Generalized Equilibrium Feedback Analysis, the individual contributions of ENSO and the IOD to circulation are investigated. It is found that although both the IOD and ENSO impact the Walker circulation, the feedback to the IOD is stronger than ENSO. Service-oriented advanced avionics system could implement system integration and information sharing by servicizing resources with multi-participant. In this system, each participant is bounded rational and may take aberrant behaviors. Different participant behaviors will cause the system to evolve towards different directions. In this paper, the evolution of service-oriented advanced avionics system is studied from the perspective of service management. A tripartite asymmetric game model is established to describe the participant behaviors. The replicated dynamic equation is applied to analyze the system stability. The sufficient condition of system stability is given. The research work contributes to predicting and controlling the evolution of this system accurately. The simulation results indicate that the game model and analysis method are correct and practical.

For multi-channel SAR-GMTI system, the consistency between the channels is the indispensable condition for location and velocity measurement of ground moving targets. Therefore, particular attention should be paid to the study of channel equalization. However, traditional channel equalization methods often have the problems of low operating efficiency, large computational burden and poor adaptability, making them less effective. Aiming at this problem, the signal model for multi-channel SAR-GMTI processing is established. Based on this, a novel channel equalization method is proposed in this paper. The experimental results based on the measured data of airborne 7-channel SAR-GMTI system show that the proposed method can effectively eliminate the amplitude and phase error between channels without the need for iterative operation, thus improves the calculation efficiency and GMTI processing effect simultaneously. © 2020 Institution of Engineering and technology. The role of sea surface temperature(SST)forcing in the development and predictability of tropical cyclone(TC)intensity is examined using a large set of idealized numerical experiments in the Weather Research and Forecasting(WRF)*** results indicate that the onset time of rapid intensification of TC gradually decreases,and the peak intensity of TC gradually increases,with the increased magnitude of *** predictability limits of the maximum 10 m wind speed(MWS)and minimum sea level pressure(MSLP)are~72 and~84 hours,*** of the analyses of variance for different simulation time confirm that the MWS and MSLP have strong signal-to-noise ratios(SNR)from 0-72 hours and a marked decrease beyond 72 *** the horizontal and vertical structures of wind speed,noticeable decreases in the magnitude of SNR can be seen as the simulation time increases,similar to that of the SLP or perturbation *** results indicate that the SST as an external forcing signal plays an important role in TC intensity for up to 72 hours,and it is significantly weakened if the simulation time exceeds the predictability limits of TC intensity.

We propose and experimentally demonstrate an ultra-compact and efficient power splitter on LNOI. The device is realized through the inverse design of a digital meta-structure and occupies a small footprint of only 4.8×4.8μm 2 . The measured results show that the insertion losses are below 2.5dB across the wavelength band of 1500–1560 nm, and the power imbalance between the two output ports is within 0.3 dB.

At present, Multi-platform avionics system (MPA) has been widely used. The existing adaptive scheduling algorithm based on Sliding-Scheduled Tenant (SST) simulates and verifies the resource management and task scheduling of MPA, and analyzes the task requirements of MPA. However, due to the shortcomings of SST algorithm in considering energy consumption and other aspects, it reduces the task acceptance rate, and does not consider the limitations of sensors and priorities, which makes al algorithm unable to meet the requirements of avionics system. This paper proposes a method of system resource selection, which considers the energy consumption, sensor and priority limit, so as to improve the acceptance rate of tasks, improve the acceptance rate of high priority, and get a scheduling algorithm with high acceptance rate of tasks. Finally, through the comprehensive analysis of the experimental results and experimental results in different scenes, it is shown that the algorithm proposed in this paper outperforms the existing algorithm in terms of the acceptance rate. © 2020, ICST Institute for Computer sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

This paper examines the event-triggered consensus of the multi-agent system on matrix-weighted networks, where the interdependencies among higher-dimensional states of neighboring agents are characterized by matrix-weighted edges in the network. Specifically, a novel distributed dynamic event-triggered coordination strategy is proposed for this category of generalized networks, in which an auxiliary system is employed for each agent to dynamically adjust the triggering threshold, which plays an essential role in guaranteeing that the triggering time sequence does not exhibit Zeno behavior. Distributed event-triggered control protocols are proposed to guarantee leaderless consensus for multi-agent systems on matrix-weighted networks, respectively. Remarkably, the spectrum of matrix-valued weights is crucial in event-triggered mechanism design for matrix-weighted networks, generalizing those results only applicable for scalar-weighted networks. The proposed approach allows each agent to broadcast and receive information only at its triggering instants. Finally, simulation examples are provided to demonstrate the theoretical results.
