Full polarization radar systems can exploit full polarization to obtain a better degree of TFD's image formation of micro-Doppler target. In this paper, the polarimetric optimization algorithm to improve the TFD's image formation of micro-Doppler has been proposed. The effectiveness of the algorithm is demonstrated by the simulation experiment as well as by the measurement experiment of a space precession target in a microwave anechoic chamber. © 2013 EMA.

The inspection of power transmission line is very important to ensure the safety of our daily life, and the use of remote sensing system in power transmission line inspection is a new research area in these years. Position and orientation measurement system (POS) is a kind of equipment that is used to provide accurate attitude and position information of the remote sensing system. The dynamic error of POS is closely related to the structure of its application target. In order to improve the accuracy of POS, in this paper, we mainly discuss the dynamic error compensation of POS that is used in remote sensing system. The structure of the remote sensing system is introduced firstly, and the dynamic error analysis is presented according to the structure of the system, then experimental study is carried out on a real remote sensing system in ground to validate the effectiveness of the new dynamic error compensation method. The experiment results show that, the new method can compensate the dynamic error of POS effectively. © 2013 IEEE.

Aiming at the grid generation problem in FDTD, a new kind of orthogonal grid generation algorithm based on polar angle judgment is provided. This algorithm cuts the object of characteristic of electromagnetic scattering which needs to be researched into a set of star polygons (polyhedrons) and judges the polar angle range of grid central point of each star polygon (polyhedron). Thus, based on the judgment of the grid central point, the inner grids are remained to generate the orthogonal grids. This algorithm can avoid the problem of singularity in the Kalay orthogonal grid generation algorithm and is better than Kalay's algorithm in computing complexity.

Recruiting or recommending appropriate latent editors who can edit a specific entry (or called article) plays an important role in improving the quality of Wikipedia entries. To predict an editor's editing interest for Wikipedia entries, this paper proposes an Interest Prediction Factor Graph (IPFG) model, which is characterized by editor's social properties, hyperlinks between Wikipedia entries, categories of an entry and other important features. Furthermore, the paper suggests a parameter learning algorithm based on the gradient descent and Loopy Sum-Product algorithms for factor graphs. The experiment on a Wikipedia dataset shows that, the average prediction accuracy (F1-Measure) of the IPFG model could be up to 87.5%, which is about 35% higher than that of a collaborative filtering approach. Moreover, the paper analyses how incomplete social properties and editing bursts affect the prediction accuracy of the IPFG model. What we found would provide a useful insight into effective Wikipedia article tossing, and improve the quality of those entries that belong to specific categories by means of collective collaboration.

Minimally invasive diagnostics and interventions (MIDI) are emerging as major paradigm shifts in medical technology development and thus significant for elder care. Magnetic or electromagnetic guided devices have been introduced to MIDI due to the remote maneuverability which is critical to control and track the intracorporeal instruments. A category of magnetic actuation mechanism is investigated by the authors based on hybrid magnetic bearing (HMB) that can provide force suspension and locomotion. In this paper, force coefficient is investigated during the locomotion control using HMB. The force coefficient refers to the distribution ratio of permanent magnetic force and electromagnetic force in HMB. According to the definition of force coefficient, it can be concluded that the larger force coefficient is, and then the smaller power loss is. © 2013 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

Traffic-Aware Channelization Medium Access Control for Wireless Ad Hoc Networks

Existing multi-channel Medium Access Control (MAC) protocols have been demonstrated to significantly increase wireless network performance compared to single channel MAC protocols. Traditionally, the channelization structure in IEEE 802.11 based wireless networks is pre-configured, and the entire available spectrum is divided into subchannels and equal channel widths. In contrast, this paper presents a Traffic-Aware Channelization MAC (TAC-MAC) protocol for wireless ad hoc networks, where each node is equipped with a single half duplex transceiver. TAC-MAC works in a distributed, fine-grai-ned manner, which dynamically divides variable-width subchannels and allocates subchannel width based on the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) technique according to the traffic demands of nodes. Simulations show that the TAC-MAC can significantly improve network throughput and reduce packet delay compared with both fixed-width multi-channel MAC and single channel 802.11 protocols, which illustrates a new paradigm for high-efficient multi-channel MAC design in wireless ad hoc networks.

In this paper, a DDS-based C-band wideband agile frequency synthesizer is described. The DDS (Direct Digital Synthesizer) is used to achieve agile frequency hopping. The output of DDS is combined with four independent PLLs, which generate low phase noise LO signal, to expand the bandwidth. Measured results show that the frequency hopping time is shorter than 500ns. The spur suppression is better than 60dB and the phase noise is lower than -104dBc/Hz@10kHz from 6.84~7.956GHz.

The polarization of radar antenna vary with scan direction. This phenomenon is called Spatial Polarization Characteristic (SPC) of antenna. Based on the SPC of single polarized antenna, a novel polarization estimation method is established. Comparing with the traditional estimation method, this one has the following advantages: (i) It does not need dual-polarization channels to estimate the signal polarization; (ii) The polarization and angle of arriving(AOA) of a periodic signal can be estimated simultaneously; (iii) The full-polarization pattern of the antenna can be matched automatically during the estimation. The feasibility of this method is proved by simulation.
