As containerization technology progresses, the network functions within the 5G core are abstracted into Virtual Network Functions (VNFs), operating within a cloud-based ecosystem. To bolster network resilience, autoscaling strategies dynamically allocate resources in response to workloads, ensuring the Quality of Service (QoS) is maintained. However, the inherent openness of 5G networks exposes them to signaling storms and unexpected disturbances, leading to substantial workload fluctuations and bursts. Current reactive autoscaling strategies are slow to respond to these challenges, falling short of user expectations for low-latency, high-quality internet services. To address this challenge, we propose a novel auto-scaling framework specifically designed for the 5G cloud core network system, dubbed 5G-PPdE. Our framework harnesses the Crossformer model for accurate workload forecasting and employs a Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) classification model to offer four distinct scaling strategies. The scaling-down decision algorithm implements a Gradual decrease Strategy (GdS) for resource management, while the burst scaling strategy adapts to sudden workload changes by referencing the maximum service quantities observed during historical window periods. We have constructed a validation system leveraging the open-source Free5GC and Free5GMANO, using the wrk tool to simulate burst traffic scenarios. Prometheus is utilized for real-time data collection, thereby validating the efficacy of our proposed framework. The findings demonstrate that our method effectively mitigates the impact of burst traffic, outperforming current solutions. © 2024 IEEE.

Hybrid software-defined networking (SdN) networks are intermediates between traditional networks and SdN networks. However, since the hybrid control planes are structurally different from the single control plane, updating the hybrid SdN networks lacks effective techniques. In this paper, by utilizing the segment routing (Sr) mechanism to update hybrid SdN networks and formalize the application of Sr during updates, we propose a cooperative consistency update algorithm that can coordinate Sr, two-phase commit techniques. The algorithm is capable of preserving consistency with low overhead and excellent applicability. When a network requires updating, the algorithm leverages the Sr mechanism to stitch a new path using the available path segments;thus, flows can use the new path immediately. If the update cannot be completed with the Sr mechanism alone, the algorithm can utilize the two-phase commit technique to update the nodes through duplication. Notably, our experiments based on real topologies indicate that, compared to prior techniques, the proposed algorithm can greatly reduce the TCAM overhead. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2020.

radon(rn)is a naturally occurring radioactive inert gas in nature,and^(222)rn has been routinely used as a powerful tracer in various aquatic environmental research on timescales of hours to days,such as submarine groundwater *** we developed a new approach to measure^(222)rn in discrete water samples with a wide range of^(222)rn concentrations using a Pulsed Ionization Chamber(PIC)radon *** sensitivity of the new PIC system is evaluated at 6.06 counts per minute for 1 Bq/L when a 500 mL water sample volume is used.A robust logarithmic correlation between sample volumes,ranging from 250 mL to 5000 mL,and system sensitivity obtained in this study strongly suggests that this approach is suitable for measuring radon concentration levels in various natural *** to the currently available methods for measuring radon in grab samples,the PIC system is cheaper,easier to operate and does not require extra accessories(e.g.,drying tubes etc.)to maintain stable measurements throughout the counting procedure.

High power continuous-wave ytterbium-doped fiber lasers have unique advantages such as high electro-optical efficiency, excellent beam quality and good thermal management, and are widely used in industrial materials processing and scientific research. However, multi-kW (\geqslant 10kW) high-power fiber lasers has encountered numerous technology challenges in double-cladding fibers. In this work, we designed and fabricated a triple-cladding ytterbium doped fiber with large core diameter by using Modified Chemical Vapor deposition (MCVd) combined with all-gas-phase doping method. An excellent laser performance could be demonstrated for such a fiber with an output power of more than 10 kW and a slope efficiency of 82%, no Transverse Mode instability (TMI) is observed. Long-term laser stability at 12 kW-level was carried out in a master oscillator power amplifier (MOPA) laser system for 500 hours with power degradation less than 1%, meanwhile a stimulated raman scattering (SrS) suppression ratio that is larger than 45dB was obtained. © 2023 IEEE.

The next generation of wireless technology, 6G, will likely incorporate advanced technologies such as extremely large-scale antenna arrays (ELAA) and millimeter wave (mmWave) communication. These cutting-edge features have the potential to revolutionize the way we communicate wirelessly, near-field communication (NFC) can not be ignored in future 6G mobile networks. Compared to far-field communication, the waves that propagate in the near-field region have a spherical wavefront. By utilizing the time agile of dMA and the correlation between near-field guidance vectors, we propose a novel channel estimation algorithm. Compared with the classic two-dimensional (2d) multiple signal classifier (MUSIC) algorithm, this algorithm effectively reduces computational complexity and ensures estimation accuracy. Simulation results show that the proposed channel estimation scheme achieves the expected results.

Many networks in the real world are dynamically changing over time, and the community structure also changes accordingly. The community detection in the dynamic and constantly evolving network has received great attention from researchers. In order to uncover the community structure in the dynamic network, this paper proposes an incremental dynamic community detection algorithm based on node participation (NPICd). It defines the node participation to the community and the community fitness. In response to the changes of nodes and edges in the network, different update strategies are proposed to discover the community at different moments in an incremental manner. The experimental results on the real network show that compared with several widely used methods, our algorithm can quickly and accurately mine the community structure in the dynamic network.

With the rapid advancement of information technology, the digital space has become humanity's “third living space.” However,this new space has also created security risks, exhibiting novel national security and development-related characteristics. In such a context,digital sovereignty encompasses dominance over digital technologies,rule-making authority in the digital realm, a voice in the digital space,and the right to develop the digital economy. Many countries and regions worldwide, such as the United States, the European Union, and China,have placed extreme importance on digital sovereignty, as evidenced by their adoption of relevant strategies. China faces four barriers that hinder its efforts to enhance digital sovereignty: path dependence,technology maturity, generalized functional security, and energy consumption. China urgently needs to promote information technology innovation at the paradigm level, facilitate much-needed breakthroughs in ground-breaking technologies, and build an independent knowledge system with Chinese characteristics regarding the digital space. Only in this manner can China forge a new path of digitalization to consolidate its digital sovereignty and advance its modernization.
