Statistical model is essential for constraint-free visual image reconstruction, as it may overfit training data and have poor generalization. In this study, we investigate the sparsity of the distributed patterns of visual representation and introduce a suitable sparse model for the visual image reconstruction experiment. We use elastic net regularization to model the sparsity of the distributed patterns for local decoder training. We also investigate the relationship between the sparsity of the visual representation and sparse models with different parameters. Our experimental results demonstrate that the sparsity needed by visual reconstruction models differs from the sparsest one, and the l2-norm regularization introduced in the EN model improves not only the robustness of the model but also the generalization performance of the learning results. We therefore conclude that the sparse learning model for visual image reconstruction should reflect the spasity of visual perceptual experience, and have a solution with high but not the highest sparsity, and some robustness as well. © 2014 - IOS Press and the authors.

Current studies on complex networks are mainly concentrated on some specific properties of the complex network. In view of the lack of universal analysis model, a universal complex network model with limited degree is built from the common characteristics of complex network. The evolution role and calculation are described in detail, focusing on the analysis of typical characteristics of complex networks, such as the degree distribution, the average shortest path, clustering coefficient, and community distribution. Simulation proves the correctness of networking properties in complex network theory. © 2014 WIT Press.

Today’s data center networks are designed using densely interconnected hosts in the data *** are multiple paths between source host and destination ***,how to balance traffic is key issue with the fast growth of network *** lots of load balancing methods have been proposed,the traditional approaches cannot fully satisfy the requirement of load balancing in data center *** main reason is the lack of efficient ways to obtain network traffic statistics from each network *** a solution,the OpenFlow protocol enables monitoring traffic statistics by a centralized ***,existing solutions based on OpenFlow present a difficult dilemma between load balancing and packet *** achieve a balance between load balancing and packet reordering,we propose an OpenFlow based flow slice load balancing *** introducing the idea of differentiated service,the scheme classifies Internet flows into two categories:the aggressive and the normal,and applies different splitting granularities to the two classes of *** scheme improves the performance of load balancing and also reduces the number of reordering *** the trace-driven simulations,we show that the proposed scheme gains over 50%improvement over previous schemes under the path delay estimation errors,and is a practical and efficient algorithm.

The P2P technology consumes the largest proportion of network traffic and is usually encrypted, which is lack of supervision. Accurate and rapid identification of encrypted P2P traffic, represented by the famous Skype, is of great significance to improve the network quality of service and enhance security control. In this paper, a trends-aware protocol fingerprints model is proposed based on the statistical signatures of signaling interactions and content transfer phase of Skype. The proposed method can sense traffic trends by trends-aware weighting functions and identify Skype traffic with anomaly scores in real-time. Experimental results show that the precision and real-time performances of the proposed algorithm is better than several state-of-art encrypted traffic identification methods, such as the protocol fingerprints and C4.5 algorithm. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Background: The sustainable development goals (SdGs) aim to end HIV/AIdS as a public health threat by 2030. Understanding the current state of the HIV epidemic and its change over time is essential to this effort. This study assesses the current sex-specific HIV burden in 204 countries and territories and measures progress in the control of the epidemic. Methods: To estimate age-specific and sex-specific trends in 48 of 204 countries, we extended the Estimation and Projection Package Age-Sex Model to also implement the spectrum paediatric model. We used this model in cases where age and sex specific HIV-seroprevalence surveys and antenatal care-clinic sentinel surveillance data were available. For the remaining 156 of 204 locations, we developed a cohort-incidence bias adjustment to derive incidence as a function of cause-of-death data from vital registration systems. The incidence was input to a custom Spectrum model. To assess progress, we measured the percentage change in incident cases and deaths between 2010 and 2019 (threshold >75% decline), the ratio of incident cases to number of people living with HIV (incidence-to-prevalence ratio threshold <0·03), and the ratio of incident cases to deaths (incidence-to-mortality ratio threshold <1·0). Findings: In 2019, there were 36·8 million (95% uncertainty interval [UI] 35·1–38·9) people living with HIV worldwide. There were 0·84 males (95% UI 0·78–0·91) per female living with HIV in 2019, 0·99 male infections (0·91–1·10) for every female infection, and 1·02 male deaths (0·95–1·10) per female death. Global progress in incident cases and deaths between 2010 and 2019 was driven by sub-Saharan Africa (with a 28·52% decrease in incident cases, 95% UI 19·58–35·43, and a 39·66% decrease in deaths, 36·49–42·36). Elsewhere, the incidence remained stable or increased, whereas deaths generally decreased. The open programmable network element architecture which based on Forwarding Element (FE) and Control Element (CE) Separation (ForCES) is an important trend of the next generation network element. How to realize the high availability and flexibility of the next generation network has presently become the important research work. This study studied on the high-availability requirement of CE in detail, including some rules and methods of ensuring backup data and brought forward the detection mechanism based on the heartbeat which is benefit for finding out the CE fault. In brief, the contributions are to (a) Analyze and improve the task of taking over methods between the CEs, (b) realize this high-availability overall software architecture on the basis of analysis and studies of above techniques and (c) Test the high-availability of ForCES CE and the effectiveness of methods is finally validated by simulations. © 2014 Academic Journals Inc.

Spatial pyramid (SP) representation is an extension of bag-of-feature model which embeds spatial layout information of local features by pooling feature codes over pre-defined spatial shapes. However, the uniform style of spatial pooling shapes used in standard SP is an ad-hoc manner without theoretical motivation, thus lacking the generalization power to adapt to different distribution of geometric properties across image classes. In this paper, we propose a data-driven approach to adaptively learn class-specific pooling shapes (CSPS). Specifically, we first establish an over-complete set of spatial shapes providing candidates with more flexible geometric patterns. Then the optimal subset for each class is selected by training a linear classifier with structured sparsity constraint and color distribution cues. To further enhance the robust of our model, the representations over CSPS are compressed according to the shape importance and finally fed to SVM with a multi-shape matching kernel for classification task. Experimental results on three challenging datasets (Caltech-256, Scene-15 and Indoor-67) demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method on both object and scene images.

This paper investigates the priorities as well as the safety factors of each assessment variable for a defective pipeline based on a partial safety factor concept considering the target failure probabilities during operating period of components of interest. For this, firstly wall-Thinned pipeline under internal pressure is considered, which is important in fitness-for-service assessment of corroded pipeline. For the analysis, scatters in the applied pressure, mechanical properties and geometries of wallthinned pipeline are considered using normal and log-normal distributions. In addition, partial safety factors of a circumferential through-wall cracked pipeline subjected to global bending moment are also evaluated based on the elasticplastic fracture mechanics. In this case, scatters in the applied bending moment, mechanical and fracture properties are considered based on normal and log-normal distributions. More importantly, two different deterministic integrity assessment methods are applied to wall-Thinned pipeline and two different estimation methods of elastic-plastic J-integral are applied to circumferential through-wall cracked pipeline to evaluate the partial safety factors. resulting values of partial safety factors are calculated using both the advanced first-order second moment method (AFOSM) and the second-order reliability method (SOrM). Moreover, the effects of statistical distributions and variations of standard deviations of assessment variables on the partial safety factors are also demonstrated. © 2015 by ASME.
