Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG)-based blockchain (a.k.a distributed ledger) has become prevalent for supporting highly concurrent applications. Its inherent parallel data structure accelerates block generation significantly, shifting the bottleneck from performance to storage scalability. An intuitive solution is to apply state sharding that divides the entire ledger (i.e., transactions and states) into multiple shards. While each node only stores proportional transactions, it suffers from the challenges of storing and ensuring the processing consistency of cross-shard transactions. In this paper, we propose SharDAG, a new mechanism that leverages adaptive sharding for DAG-based blockchains to achieve high performance and strong consistency. The key idea of SharDAG is to exploit unique characteristics -silent assets -and design a lightweight processing mechanism based on avatar account caching. Furthermore, we design a Byzantine resilient cross-shard verification mechanism with a theoretically optimal number of participating nodes, which guarantees the consistency and security of avatar account aggregation. Our comprehensive evaluations on real-world workloads demonstrate that SharDAG presents up to 3.8 x throughput improvement compared to the state-of-the-art and reduces the storage overhead of cross-shard transactions. © 2024 IEEE.

Cloud-based AI services offer numerous benefits but also introduce vulnerabilities, allowing for tampering with deployed DNN models, ranging from injecting malicious behaviors to reducing computing resources. Fingerprint samples are generated to query models to detect such tampering. In this paper, we present Intersecting-Boundary-Sensitive Fingerprinting (IBSF), a novel method for black-box integrity verification of DNN models using only top-1 labels. Recognizing that tampering with a model alters its decision boundary, IBSF crafts fingerprint samples from normal samples by maximizing the partial Shannon entropy of a selected subset of categories to position the fingerprint samples near decision boundaries where the categories in the subset intersect. These fingerprint samples are almost indistinguishable from their source samples. We theoretically establish and confirm experimentally that these fingerprint samples' expected sensitivity to tampering increases with the cardinality of the subset. Extensive evaluation demonstrates that IBSF surpasses existing state-of-the-art fingerprinting methods, particularly with larger subset cardinality, establishing its state-of-the-art performance in black-box tampering detection using only top-1 labels. Aptamers are single-stranded DNA or RNA oligonucleotides that selectively bind to specific targets, making them valuable for drug design and diagnostic applications. Identifying the interactions between aptamers and target proteins is crucial for these applications. The systematic evolution of ligands by exponential enrichment process, traditionally used for this purpose, is challenging and time-consuming. The resulting aptamers often suffer from limitations in stability and diversity. Computational approaches have shown promise in aiding the discovery of high-performance aptamers, but existing methods are usually constrained by insufficient training data and limited generalizability. Recently, advancements in pre-training large language models have offered a new avenue to mitigate the dependency on large datasets. In this study, we propose a novel method to predict aptamer-protein interactions using large language models within a contrastive learning framework. Experimental results demonstrate that our method exhibits superior generalization and outperforms existing approaches. This method holds promise as a powerful tool for predicting aptamer-protein interactions. © 2024 IEEE.

Traditional unlearnable strategies have been proposed to prevent unauthorized users from training on the 2D image data. With more 3D point cloud data containing sensitivity information, unauthorized usage of this new type data has also become a serious concern. To address this, we propose the first integral unlearnable framework for 3D point clouds including two processes: (i) we propose an unlearnable data protection scheme, involving a class-wise setting established by a category-adaptive allocation strategy and multi-transformations assigned to samples;(ii) we propose a data restoration scheme that utilizes class-wise inverse matrix transformation, thus enabling authorized-only training for unlearnable data. This restoration process is a practical issue overlooked in most existing unlearnable literature, i.e., even authorized users struggle to gain knowledge from 3D unlearnable data. Both theoretical and empirical results (including 6 datasets, 16 models, and 2 tasks) demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed unlearnable framework. Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV)-powered 5G/6G networks integrated with rechargeable wireless sensor networks (RWSNs) offer promising solutions for extending system lifetime, collecting data, and providing computing services and power to sensor nodes (SNs). UAVs offer significant advantages, including exceptional mobility, cost-effective deployment, and the ability to be easily reprogrammed for a wide range of missions. However, the limited onboard power capacity of UAVs, coupled with the lack of dynamic and intelligent charging station (CS) management and inefficient path planning, can lead to SN failure in dynamic mobile environments. To address these challenges, we propose an energy-efficient laser-charged UAV (LCU)-enabled RWSN environment, wherein UAVs, powered by laser beams from ground-based stations, provide services, collect data, and transfer energy to SNs. We formulate a joint optimization problem involving power allocation, dynamic charging strategy (DCS), and path planning to minimize task completion time and sensor node death time. Given the NP-hard nature of the problem, we employ a stochastic game model based on a Markov decision process (MDP) for its solution. To solve this problem, we propose a deep reinforcement learning (DRL) based algorithm that enables real-time charging scheduling decisions while optimizing network performance. We introduce a multi-agent double deep Q-network (MA-DDQN) model to determine the optimal trajectories for all UAVs in large and complex environments. Simulation results demonstrate that the MA-DDQN approach outperforms state-of-the-art techniques, showing significant improvements in terms of average delay, energy consumption, and task completion time. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

This study introduces the research methods for detecting changes in the mangroves of Dongzhaigang, Hainan from 2019 to 2023. Mangrove ecosystems play a crucial role in providing habitats and have ecological and economic value, but in recent years, they have faced degradation and management issues. In order to effectively monitor mangrove changes, researchers have utilized remote sensing techniques and machine learning methods for mangrove cover information extraction and classification. The paper describes the methods of estimating mangrove cover using remote sensing satellite imagery and spectral indices and explores the applications of clustering, decision trees, support vector machines, and deep learning in mangrove change detection. The research results indicate that the support vector machine algorithm performs well in classifying mangrove and non-mangrove areas. This study provides a basis for the management and decision-making of Dongzhaigang Mangrove Nature Reserve in Hainan Province and highlights the future research potential in the application of multi-source and multi-resolution data and deep learning techniques. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Accurate analysis of Fetal Heart Rate (FHR) signal is often impeded by challenges such as data scarcity and label imbalance, which affect the reliability and robustness of deep learning models. To address these challenges, this study introduces FHRDiff, a novel diffusion model conditioned on Phase-Rectified Signal Averaging (PRSA) spectrograms for the creation of synthetic FHR signals. Our model integrates time encoding, condition generation from PRSA spectrograms, and residual blocks with dilated convolutions to effectively manage temporal dynamics and long-range dependencies. Extensive qualitative and quantitative experiments on FHR signal synthesis demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of FHRDiff. Compared to Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) and image-based diffusion model, our method achieves the highest signal fidelity and distribution similarity, with key measures including 0.067 maximum mean deviation (MMD), 0.492 percent root mean square difference (PRD), 1.763 relative entropy (RE), and 0.160 Frechet distance (FD). Expert validation confirms the model's capacity to accurately generate data for normal and abnormal FHR signals based on the paired condition. In addition, an ablation study was conducted to highlight that the spectrogram paired condition can guide the diffusion model to produce synthetics FHR signals with greater diversity compared to unconditional models. The results emphasize diffusion models' potential for broad application in biomedical time series analysis, such as generation, imputation and noise removal. © 2024 IEEE.

Temporal knowledge graph (TKG) extrapolation aims to predict future unknown events (facts) based on historical information, and has attracted considerable attention due to its great practical significance. Accurate representations (embeddings) of entities and relations form the basis of TKG extrapolation. Recent work has been devoted to improving the rationality of entity representations. However, on the one hand, ignoring relation modeling results in incomplete relation representations;therefore, some approaches aggregate only immediately adjacent entities of relations, but this can lead to the "message islands"problem of relation modeling. On the other hand, ignoring the association constraints between relations and entities can make the embeddings of both relations and entities prone to overfitting. To address the abovementioned challenges, we propose an advanced method, namely, RETIA. For the former issue, we generate twin hyperrelation subgraphs for each historical subgraph and then aggregate both the adjacent entities and relations in the hyperrelation subgraphs through a graph convolutional network (GCN). About the latter concern, we propose a twin-interact module (TIM), which provides communication channels for relation aggregation and entity aggregation during the evolution of the historical sequence. Experiments conducted on five public datasets show that RETIA has made great improvements across several evaluation metrics.
