Warm water cooling has been regarded as a promising method to improve the energy efficiency of water-cooled datacenters. In warm water-cooling systems, hot spots occur as a common problem where the hybrid cooling architecture integrating thermoelectric coolers (TECs) emerges as a new remedy. Equipped with this architecture, the inlet water temperature can be raised higher, which provides more opportunities for heat recycling. However, currently, the heat absorbed from the server components is ejected directly into the water without being recycled, which leads to energy wasting. In order to further improve the energy efficiency, we propose Heat to Power (H2P), an economical and energy-recycling warm water cooling architecture, where thermoelectric generators (TEGs) harvest thermal energy from the “used” warm water and generate electricity for reusing in datacenters. Specifically, we propose some efficient optimization methods, including an economical water circulation design, fine-grained adjustments of the cooling setting and dynamic workload scheduling for increasing the power generated by TEGs. We evaluate H2P based on a real hardware prototype and cluster traces from Google and Alibaba. Experiment results show that TEGs equipped with our optimization methods can averagely generate 4.349 W, 4.203 W, and 3.979 W (4.177 W averagely) electricity on one CPU under the drastic, irregular and common workload traces, respectively. The power reusing efficiency (PRE) can reach 12.8%~16.2% (14.23% averagely) and the total cost of ownership (TCO) of datacenters can be reduced by up to 0.57%.

The Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has rapidly spread all over the world since its first report in December 2019 and thoracic computed tomography (CT) has become one of the main tools for its diagnosis. In recent years, deep learning-based approaches have shown impressive performance in myriad image recognition tasks. However, they usually require a large number of annotated data for training. Inspired by Ground Glass Opacity (GGO), a common finding in COIVD-19 patient's CT scans, we proposed in this paper a novel self-supervised pretraining method based on pseudo lesions generation and restoration for COVID-19 diagnosis. We used Perlin noise, a gradient noise based mathematical model, to generate lesion-like patterns, which were then randomly pasted to the lung regions of normal CT images to generate pseudo COVID-19 images. The pairs of normal and pseudo COVID-19 images were then used to train an encoder-decoder architecture based U-Net for image restoration, which does not require any labelled data. The pretrained encoder was then fine-tuned using labelled data for COVID-19 diagnosis task. Two public COVID- 19 diagnosis datasets made up of CT images were employed for evaluation. Comprehensive experimental results demonstrated that the proposed self-supervised learning approach could extract better feature representation for COVID-19 diagnosis and the accuracy of the proposed method outperformed the supervised model pretrained on large scale images by 6.57% and 3.03% on SARS-CoV-2 dataset and Jinan COVID-19 dataset, respectively. © 2021, CC BY-NC-SA.

The brain tumor segmentation task aims to classify tissue into the whole tumor (WT), tumor core (TC) and enhancing tumor (ET) classes using multimodel MRI images. Quantitative analysis of brain tumors is critical for clinical decision making. While manual segmentation is tedious, time-consuming, and subjective, this task is at the same time very challenging to automatic segmentation methods. Thanks to the powerful learning ability, convolutional neural networks (CNNs), mainly fully convolutional networks, have shown promising brain tumor segmentation. This paper further boosts the performance of brain tumor segmentation by proposing hyperdense inception 3D UNet (HI-Net), which captures multi-scale information by stacking factorization of 3D weighted convolutional layers in the residual inception block. We use hyper dense connections among factorized convolutional layers to extract more contexual information, with the help of features reusability. We use a dice loss function to cope with class imbalances. We validate the proposed architecture on the multi-modal brain tumor segmentation challenges (BRATS) 2020 testing dataset. Preliminary results on the BRATS 2020 testing set show that achieved by our proposed approach, the dice (DSC) scores of ET, WT, and TC are 0.79457, 0.87494, and 0.83712, respectively. © 2020, CC BY.

Remote photoplethysmography (rPPG) enables noncontact physiological measurement but remains highly susceptible to illumination changes, motion artifacts, and limited temporal modeling. Large Language Models (LLMs) excel at capturing long-range dependencies, offering a potential solution but struggle with the continuous, noise-sensitive nature of rPPG signals due to their text-centric design. To bridge this gap, we introduce PhysLLM, a collaborative optimization framework that synergizes LLMs with domain-specific rPPG components. Specifically, the Text Prototype Guidance (TPG) strategy is proposed to establish cross-modal alignment by projecting hemodynamic features into LLM-interpretable semantic space, effectively bridging the representational gap between physiological signals and linguistic tokens. Besides, a novel Dual-Domain Stationary (DDS) Algorithm is proposed for resolving signal instability through adaptive time-frequency domain feature re-weighting. Finally, rPPG task-specific cues systematically inject physiological priors through physiological statistics, environmental contextual answering, and task description, leveraging cross-modal learning to integrate both visual and textual information, enabling dynamic adaptation to challenging scenarios like variable illumination and subject movements. Evaluation on four benchmark datasets, PhysLLM achieves state-of-the-art accuracy and robustness, demonstrating superior generalization across lighting variations and motion scenarios. This paper demonstrates the design and fabrication of three-dimensional(3 D) hexagonally ordered microbowl arrays(MBAs) decorated with Cu In S2 nanosheets for enhanced photoelectrochemical(PEC) performance. The 3 D MBAs are fabricated by a micro-fabrication technique. The ultrathin CuInS2 nanosheets are grown on the 3 D electrodes by solvothermal transformation of Cu film. The photocurrent density of 3 D photocathode(CuInS2@MBAs) is about two times higher than that of the planar counterpart(CuInS2@Planar). The improved PEC performance can be ascribed to the elevated light trapping ability and the increased surface area for loading photocatalysts. In addition, CdS quantum dots as cocatalysts are modified onto the Cu In S2 nanosheets to further enhance the PEC activity because the formed p-n heterojunction can accelerate the separation of photogenerated carriers. As a result, the 3 D photocathode of CuInS2/CdS@MBAs shows an optimal incident photon to current efficiency of 10% at the wavelength of400 nm. It is believed that this work can be generalized to design other hierarchical 3 D photoelectrodes for improved solar water splitting.

Panoramic video is considered to be an attractive video format, since it provides the viewers with an immersive experience, such as virtual reality (VR) gaming. However, the viewers only focus on part of panoramic video, which is referred to as viewport. Hence, the resources consumed for distributing the remaining part of the panoramic video are wasted. It is intuitive to only deliver the video data within this viewport for reducing the distribution cost. Empirically, viewports within a time interval are highly correlated, hence the historical trajectory may be used for predicting the future viewports. On the other hand, a viewer tends to sustain attention on a specific object in a panoramic video. Motivated by these findings, we propose a deep learning-based viewport Prediction scheme, namely HOP, where the Historical viewport trajectory of viewers and Object tracking are jointly exploited by the long short-term memory (LSTM) networks. Additionally, our solution is capable of predicting multiple future viewports, while a single viewport prediction was supported by the state-of-the-art contributions. Simulation results show that our proposed HOP scheme outperforms the benchmarkers by up to 33.5% in terms of the prediction error.

Universal deep network for steganalysis of color image based on channel representation

Up to now, most existing steganalytic methods are designed for grayscale images, and they are not suitable for color images that are widely used in current social networks. In this paper, we design a universal color image steganalysis network (called UCNet) in spatial and JPEG domains. The proposed method includes preprocessing, convolutional, and classification modules. To preserve the steganographic artifacts in each color channel, in preprocessing module, we firstly separate the input image into three channels according to the corresponding embedding spaces (i.e. RGB for spatial steganography and YCbCr for JPEG steganography), and then extract the image residuals with 62 fixed high-pass filters, finally concatenate all truncated residuals for subsequent analysis rather than adding them together with normal convolution like existing CNN-based steganalyzers. To accelerate the network convergence and effectively reduce the number of parameters, in convolutional module, we carefully design three types of layers with different shortcut connections and group convolution structures to further learn high-level steganalytic features. In classification module, we employ a global average pooling and fully connected layer for classification. We conduct extensive experiments on ALASKA II to demonstrate that the proposed method can achieve state-of-the-art results compared with the modern CNN-based steganalyzers (e.g., SRNet and J-YeNet) in both spatial and JPEG domains, while keeping relatively few memory requirements and training time. With the development of presentation attacks, Automated Fingerprint Recognition systems(AFRSs) are vulnerable to presentation attack. Thus, numerous methods of presentation attack detection(PAD) have been proposed to ensure the normal utilization of AFRS. However, the demand of large-scale presentation attack images and the low-level generalization ability always astrict existing PAD methods' actual performances. Therefore, we propose a novel Zero-Shot Presentation Attack Detection Model to guarantee the generalization of the PAD model. The proposed ZSPAD-Model based on generative model does not utilize any negative samples in the process of establishment, which ensures the robustness for various types or materials based presentation attack. Different from other auto-encoder based model, the Fine-grained Map architecture is proposed to refine the reconstruction error of the auto-encoder networks and a task-specific gaussian model is utilized to improve the quality of clustering. Meanwhile, in order to improve the performance of the proposed model, 9 confidence scores are discussed in this article. Experimental results showed that the ZSPAD-Model is the state of the art for ZSPAD, and the MS-Score is the best confidence score. Compared with existing methods, the proposed ZSPAD-Model performs better than the feature-based method and under the multi-shot setting, the proposed method overperforms the learning based method with little training data.
