Text classification, a fundamental task in natural language processing (NLP), aims to categorize textual data into predefined labels. Traditional methods struggled with complex linguistic structures and semantic dependencies. The advent of deep learning, particularly recurrent neural networks (RNNs) and Transformer-based models, has significantly advanced the field by enabling nuanced feature extraction and context-aware predictions. Despite improvements, existing models exhibit limitations in balancing interpretability, computational efficiency, and long-range contextual understanding. This paper proposes the Dynamic Bidirectional Elman with Attention Network (DBEAN), which integrates bidirectional temporal modelling with self-attention mechanisms. UCat: heterogeneous memory management for unikernels

Unikernels provide an efficient and lightweight way to deploy cloud computing services in application-specialized and single-address-space virtual machines (VMs). They can efficiently deploy hundreds of unikernel-based VMs in a single physical server. In such a cloud computing platform, main memory is the primary bottleneck resource for high-density application deployment. Recently, non-volatile memory (NVM) technologies has become increasingly popular in cloud data centers because they can offer extremely large memory capacity at a low expense. However, there still remain many challenges to utilize NVMs for unikernel-based VMs, such as the difficulty of heterogeneous memory allocation and high performance overhead of address *** this paper, we present UCat, a heterogeneous memory management mechanism that support multi-grained memory allocation for unikernels. We propose front-end/back-end cooperative address space mapping to expose the host memory heterogeneity to unikernels. UCat exploits large pages to reduce the cost of two-layer address translation in virtualization environments, and leverages slab allocation to reduce memory waste due to internal memory fragmentation. We implement UCat based on a popular unikernel--OSv and conduct extensive experiments to evaluate its efficiency. Experimental results show that UCat can reduce the memory consumption of unikernels by 50% and TLB miss rate by 41%, and improve the throughput of real-world benchmarks such as memslap and YCSB by up to 18.5% and 14.8%, respectively.

Text-augmented long-term relation dependency learning for knowledge graph representation

Knowledge graph (KG) representation learning aims to map entities and relations into a low-dimensional representation space, showing significant potential in many tasks. Existing approaches follow two categories: (1) Graph-based approaches encode KG elements into vectors using structural score functions. (2) Text-based approaches embed text descriptions of entities and relations via pre-trained language models (PLMs), further fine-tuned with triples. We argue that graph-based approaches struggle with sparse data, while text-based approaches face challenges with complex relations. To address these limitations, we propose a unified Text-Augmented Attention-based Recurrent Network, bridging the gap between graph and natural language. Specifically, we employ a graph attention network based on local influence weights to model local structural information and utilize a PLM based prompt learning to learn textual information, enhanced by a mask-reconstruction strategy based on global influence weights and textual contrastive learning for improved robustness and generalizability. Besides, to effectively model multi-hop relations, we propose a novel semantic-depth guided path extraction algorithm and integrate cross-attention layers into recurrent neural networks to facilitate learning the long-term relation dependency and offer an adaptive attention mechanism for varied-length information. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our model exhibits superiority over existing models across KG completion and question-answering tasks.

BGNN: Behavior-aware graph neural network for heterogeneous session-based recommendation

Resource abstraction and data placement for distributed hybrid memory pool

ReCSA:a dedicated sort accelerator using ReRAM-based content addressable memory

With the increasing amount of data,there is an urgent need for efficient sorting algorithms to process large data *** sorting algorithms have attracted much attention because they can take advantage of different hardware's *** the traditional hardware sort accelerators suffer“memory wall”problems since their multiple rounds of data transmission between the memory and the *** this paper,we utilize the in-situ processing ability of the ReRAM crossbar to design a new ReCAM array that can process the matrix-vector multiplication operation and the vector-scalar comparison in the same array *** this designed ReCAM array,we present ReCSA,which is the first dedicated ReCAM-based sort *** hardware designs,we also develop algorithms to maximize memory utilization and minimize memory exchanges to improve sorting *** sorting algorithm in ReCSA can process various data types,such as integer,float,double,and *** also present experiments to evaluate the performance and energy efficiency against the state-of-the-art sort *** experimental results show that ReCSA has 90.92×,46.13×,27.38×,84.57×,and 3.36×speedups against CPU-,GPU-,FPGA-,NDP-,and PIM-based platforms when processing numeric data *** also has 24.82×,32.94×,and 18.22×performance improvement when processing string data sets compared with CPU-,GPU-,and FPGA-based platforms.

Outlier detection refers to the identification of anomalous samples that deviate significantly from the distribution of normal data and has been extensively studied and used in a variety of practical tasks. However, most unsupervised outlier detection methods are carefully designed to detect specified outliers, while real-world data may be entangled with different types of outliers. In this study, we propose a fuzzy rough sets-based multi-scale outlier detection method to identify various types of outliers. Specifically, a novel fuzzy rough sets-based method that integrates relative fuzzy granule density is first introduced to improve the capability of detecting local outliers. Then, a multi-scale view generation method based on granular-ball computing is proposed to collaboratively identify group outliers at different levels of granularity. Moreover, reliable outliers and inliers determined by the three-way decision are used to train a weighted support vector machine to further improve the performance of outlier detection. The proposed method innovatively transforms unsupervised outlier detection into a semi-supervised classification problem and for the first time explores the fuzzy rough sets-based outlier detection from the perspective of multi-scale granular balls, allowing for high adaptability to different types of outliers. Extensive experiments carried out on both artificial and UCI datasets demonstrate that the proposed outlier detection method significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art methods, improving the results by at least 8.48% in terms of the Area Under the ROC Curve (AUROC) index. The healthcare industry is becoming more vulnerable to privacy violations and cybercrime due to the pervasive dissemination and sensitivity of medical data. Advanced data security systems are needed to protect privacy, data integrity, and dependability as confidentiality breaches increase across industries. Decentralized healthcare networks face challenges in feature extraction during local training, hindering effective federated averaging and learning rate optimization, which affects data processing and model training efficiency. This paper introduces a novel approach of Transforming Healthcare Edge with Transformer-based Adaptive Federated Learning (THE-TAFL) and Learning Rate Optimization. In this paper, we combine Transformer-based Adaptive Federated Learning (TAFL) with learning rate optimization to improve the privacy and security of healthcare information on edge devices. We used data augmentation approaches that generate robust and generalized input datasets for deep learning models. Next, we use the Vision Transformer (ViT) model for local training, generating Local Model Weights (LMUs) that enhance feature extraction and learning. We designed a training optimization method that improves model performance and stability by combining a loss function with weight decay for regularization, learning rate scheduling, and gradient clipping. This ensures effective training across decentralized clients in a Federated Learning (FL) framework. The FL server receives LMUs from many clients and aggregates them. The aggregation procedure utilizes adaptive federated averaging to aggregate the LMUs based on the performance of each client. This adaptive method ensures that high-performing clients contribute more to the Global Model Update (GMU). Following aggregation, clients receive the GMU to continue training with the updated parameters, ensuring collaborative and dynamic learning.
