In recent years, high-speed trains are one of the popular research topics in the field of transportation and have attracted much attention from scholars at home and abroad in view of their high efficiency and safety features. High-speed trains are susceptible to unexpected situations of delayed arrival due to the disturbance of external factors including wind and temperature during the trip. The delay of high-speed trains has a vital impact on people's work efficiency and living standards. To solve the problem of intelligent forecast of high-speed train delay, we design and implement a clustering ensemble algorithm based on text data of bullet train operation environment monitoring. We firstly combine the concepts of cosine similarity, Jaccard similarity and information entropy, then fuse a bidirectional weighting formula, and further propose a novel Clustering Ensemble algorithm based on Bidirectional Weighted Co-association (CE-BWC). This approach consists of an inter-cluster weighting formula used to obtain the implicit generalized information by weighting each cluster between clusters, and a reliability weighting formula transferring the cluster information to the data item itself to measure the correlation degree of the data group. Experiments prove that our CE-BWC has better prediction performance for high-speed train delay and outperforms the state-of-the-art benchmark algorithms. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Rethinking the visual cues in audio-visual speaker extraction

The Audio-Visual Speaker Extraction (AVSE) algorithm employs parallel video recording to leverage two visual cues, namely speaker identity and synchronization, to enhance performance compared to audio-only algorithms. However, the visual front-end in AVSE is often derived from a pre-trained model or end-to-end trained, making it unclear which visual cue contributes more to the speaker extraction performance. This raises the question of how to better utilize visual cues. To address this issue, we propose two training strategies that decouple the learning of the two visual cues. Our experimental results demonstrate that both visual cues are useful, with the synchronization cue having a higher impact. We introduce a more explainable model, the Decoupled Audio-Visual Speaker Extraction (DAVSE) model, which leverages both visual cues. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Audio-visual active speaker detection (AV-ASD) aims to identify which visible face is speaking in a scene with one or more persons. Most existing AV-ASD methods prioritize capturing speech-lip correspondence. However, there is a noticeable gap in addressing the challenges from real-world AV-ASD scenarios. Due to the presence of low-quality noisy videos in such cases, AV-ASD systems without a selective listening ability are short of effectively filtering out disruptive voice components from mixed audio inputs. In this paper, we propose a Multi-modal Speaker Extraction-to-Detection framework named ‘MuSED’, which is pre-trained with audio-visual target speaker extraction to learn the denoising ability, then it is fine-tuned with the AV-ASD task. Meanwhile, to better capture the multi-modal information and deal with real-world problems such as missing modality, MuSED is modelled on the time domain directly and integrates the multi-modal plus-and-minus augmentation strategy. Our experiments demonstrate that MuSED substantially outperforms the state-of-the-art AV-ASD methods and achieves 95.6% mAP on the AVA-ActiveSpeaker dataset, 98.3% AP on the ASW dataset, and 97.9% F1 on the Columbia AV-ASD dataset, respectively. Contrastive Learning for Robust Android Malware Familial Classification

Due to its open-source nature, Android operating system has been the main target of attackers to exploit. Malware creators always perform different code obfuscations on their apps to hide malicious activities. Features extracted from these obfuscated samples through program analysis contain many useless and disguised features, which leads to many false negatives. To address the issue, in this paper, we demonstrate that obfuscation-resilient malware family analysis can be achieved through contrastive learning. The key insight behind our analysis is that contrastive learning can be used to reduce the difference introduced by obfuscation while amplifying the difference between malware and other types of malware. Based on the proposed analysis, we design a system that can achieve robust and interpretable classification of Android malware. To achieve robust classification, we perform contrastive learning on malware samples to learn an encoder that can automatically extract robust features from malware samples. To achieve interpretable classification, we transform the function call graph of a sample into an image by centrality analysis. Then the corresponding heatmaps can be obtained by visualization techniques. These heatmaps can help users understand why the malware is classified as this family. We implement IFDroid and perform extensive evaluations on two datasets. Experimental results show that IFDroid is superior to state-of-the-art Android malware familial classification systems. Realizing Generalized Zero-Shot Learning (GZSL) based on large models is emerging as a prevailing trend. However, most existing methods merely regard large models as black boxes, solely leveraging the features output by the final layer while disregarding potential performance enhancements from other layers. Indeed, numerous researchers have visually depicted variations in the features learned across different layers of neural networks. Motivated by this observation, we propose a Vision Transformer (ViT)-based GZSL method named Depth-Aware Multi-Modal ViT (DAM2ViT), which exploits multi-level features of ViT. DAM2ViT incorporates a multi-modal interaction block to align semantic information of categories across multiple layers, thereby augmenting the model's capacity to learn associations between visual and semantic spaces. Extensive experiments conducted on three benchmark datasets (i.e., CUB, SUN, AWA2) have showcased that DAM2ViT achieves competitive results compared to state-of-the-art methods.

Denial-of-Service or Fine-Grained Control: Towards Flexible Model Poisoning Attacks on Federated Learning

Federated learning (FL) is vulnerable to poisoning attacks, where adversaries corrupt the global aggregation results and cause denial-of-service (DoS). Unlike recent model poisoning attacks that optimize the amplitude of malicious perturbations along certain prescribed directions to cause DoS, we propose a Flexible Model Poisoning Attack (FMPA) that can achieve versatile attack goals. We consider a practical threat scenario where no extra knowledge about the FL system (e.g., aggregation rules or updates on benign devices) is available to adversaries. FMPA exploits the global historical information to construct an estimator that predicts the next round of the global model as a benign reference. It then fine-tunes the reference model to obtain the desired poisoned model with low accuracy and small perturbations. Besides the goal of causing DoS, FMPA can be naturally extended to launch a fine-grained controllable attack, making it possible to precisely reduce the global accuracy. Armed with precise control, malicious FL service providers can gain advantages over their competitors without getting noticed, hence opening a new attack surface in FL other than DoS. Even for the purpose of DoS, experiments show that FMPA significantly decreases the global accuracy, outperforming six state-of-the-art attacks. © 2023, CC BY.

Modern speaker recognition system relies on abundant and balanced datasets for classification training. However, diverse defective datasets, such as partially-labelled, small-scale, and imbalanced datasets, are common in real-world applications. Previous works usually studied specific solutions for each scenario from the algorithm perspective. However, the root cause of these problems lies in dataset imperfections. To address these challenges with a unified solution, we propose the Voice Conversion Augmentation (VCA) strategy to obtain pseudo speech from the training set. Furthermore, to guarantee generation quality, we designed the VCA-NN (nearest neighbours) strategy to select source speech from utterances that are close to the target speech in the representation space. Our experimental results on three created datasets demonstrated that VCA-NN effectively mitigates these dataset problems, which provides a new direction for handling the speaker recognition problems from the data aspect. © 2024, CC BY.

FedPHE: A Secure and Efficient Federated Learning via Packed Homomorphic Encryption

Cross-silo federated learning (FL) enables multiple institutions (clients) to collaboratively build a global model without sharing private data. To prevent privacy leakage during aggregation, homomorphic encryption (HE) is widely used to encrypt model updates, yet incurs high computation and communication overheads. To reduce these overheads, packed HE (PHE) has been proposed to encrypt multiple plaintexts into a single ciphertext. However, the original design of PHE assumes all clients share a single private key, making the system vulnerable to security threats of ciphertexts being intercepted and decrypted by honest-but-curious clients. Also, it does not consider the heterogeneity among different clients, resulting in undermined training efficiency with slow convergence and stragglers. To address these challenges, we propose FedPHE, a secure and efficient FL framework with PHE by jointly exploiting contribution-aware secure aggregation and straggler-resistant client selection. Using CKKS with sparsification and blinding, FedPHE achieves efficient secure aggregation that allows clients to only provide obscured encrypted updates while the server can perform aggregation by accounting for contributions of local updates. To mitigate the straggler effect, we devise a perturbed sketch-based selection to cherry-pick representative clients with heterogeneous models and computing capabilities in a communication-efficient and privacy-preserving manner. We show, through rigorous security analysis and extensive experiments, that FedPHE can efficiently safeguard clients' privacy, achieve 2.45-6.56× training speedup, cut the communication overhead by 1.32-24.85×, and reduce straggler effects by 1.89-2.78×. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

Towards High-resolution 3D Anomaly Detection via Group-Level Feature Contrastive Learning

High-resolution point clouds (HRPCD) anomaly detection (AD) plays a critical role in precision machining and high-end equipment manufacturing. Despite considerable 3D-AD methods that have been proposed recently, they still cannot meet the requirements of the HRPCD-AD task. There are several challenges: i) It is difficult to directly capture HRPCD information due to large amounts of points at the sample level;ii) The advanced transformer-based methods usually obtain anisotropic features, leading to degradation of the representation;iii) The proportion of abnormal areas is very small, which makes it difficult to characterize. To address these challenges, we propose a novel group-level feature-based network, called Group3AD, which has a significantly efficient representation ability. First, we design an Intercluster Uniformity Network (IUN) to present the mapping of different groups in the feature space as several clusters, and obtain a more uniform distribution between clusters representing different parts of the point clouds in the feature space. Then, an Intracluster Alignment Network (IAN) is designed to encourage groups within the cluster to be distributed tightly in the feature space. In addition, we propose an Adaptive Group-Center Selection (AGCS) based on geometric information to improve the pixel density of potential anomalous regions during inference. The experimental results verify the effectiveness of our proposed Group3AD, which surpasses Reg3D-AD by the margin of 5% in terms of object-level AUROC on Real3DAD. The ability for cloud data centres and edge data centres to collaborate unleashes the potential of the edge-cloud system. However, its sophistication causes unexpected issues in request scheduling, such as Insufficient intelligence, complicated hierarchy and limited cooperation. Traditional resource optimization methods for the edge-cloud system struggle to accommodate such intricate situations. In this paper, inspired by the behaviors and regulations in human society, we propose a socialized learning-based scheduling approach for the edge-cloud system, namely SocialEdge. In order to adapt to time-varying requests and dynamic service prevalence, we propose a learning-based approach, multi-agent advantage actor-critic (MAA2C) and graph convolutional networks-based MAA2C for two phases, respectively, which can improve individual intelligence to achieve optimal dispatch and orchestration decisions. Then, to make use of hierarchy correlation, we develop the socialized refining inter the layers, where inference results from one layer guide the training process of the other layer so that optimization-critical knowledge can be abstracted. Besides, we apply socialized cooperation to each layer, where federated averaging with MAA2C is implemented to ensure cooperation over private data for achieving optimal global solutions. Experimental evaluations on a proof-of-concept testbed along with two real traces demonstrate that baselines have 105% more delay than SocialEdge while being 76.6% less time efficiency and 21.6% less throughput.
