Empirical topological investigation of practical supply chains based on complex networks

The industrial supply chain networks basically capture the circulation of social resource, dominating the stability and efficiency of the industrial system. In this paper, we provide an empirical study of the topology of smartphone supply chain network. The supply chain network is constructed using open online data. Our experimental results show that the smartphone supply chain network has small-world feature with scale-free degree distribution, in which a few high degree nodes play a key role in the function and can effectively reduce the communication cost. We also detect the community structure to find the basic functional unit. It shows that information communication between nodes is crucial to improve the resource utilization. We should pay attention to the global resource configuration for such electronic production management.

The discovery of protein-protein interaction sites (PPIs) is vital for exploring the principle of PPI and understanding the nature of life activities. Developing computational approaches to predict PPIs can effectively compensate for the shortcomings of biological experiments, which are mostly time-consuming and vulnerable to noise. In recent years, deep learning has been used to develop PPIs prediction models. Most of them consider the contextual information of the target amino acid residues and use a local protein sequence to represent the targets. However, the traditional deep-learning techniques, e.g., deep neural networks (DNNs) and convolutional neural networks (CNNs), disregard the important spatial hierarchies contained in the features of protein sequences, leading to their failure to effectively distinguish the interaction sites from different residue regions. In this work, we design MSE-CapsPPISP, a new deep-learning model to address the PPIs prediction with spatial hierarchies. The key idea of MSE-CapsPPISP is to take into account the hierarchical relationships between the features of protein sequences. We characterize the hierarchical relationships by designing a tailored Capsule Network (CapsNet) model, which is a novel type of neural network with vector neurons. Moreover, to make the network representation more robust, MSE-CapsPPISP uses multi-scale CNNs to extract multi-scale features of protein sequences and Squeeze-and-Excitation blocks to recalibrate the features. The validation results show that our MSE-CapsPPISP outperforms the baseline CNNs-based architecture DeepPPISP and other competing schemes in the PPIs prediction task. © 2022 IEEE.

Recommender systems (RS) are being used in a broad range of applications, from online shopping websites to music streaming platforms, which aim to provide users high-quality personalized services. Collaborative filtering (CF) is a promising technique to ensure the accuracy of a recommender system, which can be divided into specific tasks such as rating prediction and item ranking. However, there is a larger volume of published works studying the problem of rating prediction, rather than item ranking though it is recognized to be more appropriate for the final recommendation in a real application. On the other hand, many studies on item ranking devoted to leveraging implicit feedback are limited in performance improvements due to the uniformity of implicit feedback. Hence, in this paper, we focus on item ranking with informative explicit feedback, which is also called collaborative ranking. In particular, we propose a novel recommendation model termed context-aware collaborative ranking (CCR), which adopts a logistic loss function to measure the predicted error of ranking and exploits the inherent preference context derived from the explicit feedback. Moreover, we design an elegant strategy to distinguish between positive and negative samples used in the process of model training. Empirical studies on four real-world datasets clearly demonstrate that our CCR outperforms the state-of-the-art methods in terms of various ranking-oriented evaluation metrics. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2020.

Lakes are a valuable natural resource that are sensitive to climate change. In recent years, global warming is ongoing, resulting in increased glacier melting and enhanced precipitation, leading to unprecedented lake expansion in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. This study aims to conduct modelling and monitoring of annual changes in lake areas, water levels, and storages for 108 representative expanding lakes on the Qinghai-Tibet plateau from 1999 to 2021. By leveraging Global Surface Water (GSW) data and Digital Elevation Model (DEM) derived from Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM), we estimated long-term annual lake areas and water levels for each lake. Our results have been validated by accurate Landsat-derived lake areas and satellite altimetry-derived water levels, demonstrating a high level of accuracy in our results. By modelling lake areas and water levels, we further estimated lake storage changes over the 1999–2021 period for these 108 typical lakes across the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. This study provides detailed insights into the lake areas, water levels, and storages of 108 lakes in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, serving as a valuable reference for guiding regional sustainable development initiatives and policy-making efforts. © 2025 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

Computer vision(CV)algorithms have been extensively used for a myriad of applications *** the multimedia data are generally well-formatted and regular,it is beneficial to leverage the massive parallel processing power of the underlying platform to improve the performances of CV *** Instruction Multiple data(SIMD)instructions,capable of conducting the same operation on multiple data items in a single instruction,are extensively employed to improve the efficiency of CV *** this paper,we evaluate the power and effectiveness of RISC-V vector extension(RV-V)on typical CV algorithms,such as Gray Scale,Mean Filter,and Edge *** our examinations,we show that compared with the baseline OpenCV implementation using scalar instructions,the equivalent implementations using the RV-V(version 0.8)can reduce the instruction count of the same CV algorithm up to 24x,when processing the same input ***,the actual performances improvement measured by the cycle counts is highly related with the specific implementation of the underlying RV-V *** our evaluation,by using the vector co-processor(with eight execution lanes)of Xuantie C906,vector-version CV algorithms averagely exhibit up to 2.98x performances speedups compared with their scalar counterparts.

Stable consumer electronic systems can assist traffic better. Good traffic consumer electronic systems require collaborative work between traffic algorithms and hardware. However, performance of popular traffic algorithms containing vehicle detection methods based on deep networks via learning data relation rather than learning differences in different lighting and occlusions is limited. In this paper, we present a dynamic Transformer network for vehicle detection (DTNet). DTNet utilizes a dynamic convolution to guide a deep network to dynamically generate weights to enhance adaptability of an obtained detector. Taking into relations of different information account, a mixed attention mechanism based channel attention and Transformer is exploited to strengthen relations of channels and pixels to extract more salient information for vehicle detection. To overcome the drawback of difference in an image account, a translation-variant convolution relies on spatial location information to refine obtained structural information for vehicle detection. With the marriage of federated machine learning and recommender systems for privacy-aware preference modeling and personalization, there comes a new research branch called federated recommender systems aiming to build a recommendation model in a distributed way, i.e., each user is represented as a distributed client where his/her original rating data are not shared with the server or the other clients. Notice that, besides the sensitive information of a specific rating score assigned to a certain item by a user, the information of a user’s rated set of items shall also be well protected. Some very recent works propose to randomly sample some unrated items for each user and then assign some virtual ratings, so that the server can not identify the scores and the set of rated items easily during the server-client interactions. However, the virtual ratings assigned to the randomly sampled items will inevitably introduce some noise to the model training process, which will then cause loss in recommendation performance. In this paper, we propose a novel lossless federated recommendation method (FedRec++) by allocating some denoising clients (i.e., users) to eliminate the noise in a privacy-aware manner. We further analyse our FedRec++ in terms of security and losslessness, and discuss its generality in the context of existing works. Extensive empirical studies clearly show the effectiveness of our FedRec++ in providing accurate and privacy-aware recommendation without much additional communication cost. With the increasing use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in a variety of applications, their safety has become a critical concern. UAVs face numerous emergencies during missions, in these situations, the UAVs need to autonomously find a suitable landing site, plan flight routes, and avoid obstacles in unstructured environments. However, due to the limitations of computing power and sensors, it is challenging to achieve this goal. This research aims to explore the monocular emergency autonomous landing algorithm. Specifically, this work focuses on extracting depth and vision information. A topology information extractor is designed to convert image to graph and assess the connectivity of terrain. Additionally, a depth information extractor is designed to calculate the slope and roughness of the ground. A 3D topology optimizer is designed to optimize the graph by depth information and evaluate the landing suitability by a heuristic strategy. To make the action decision, a hybrid decision network (DGN) based on 3D topology information is proposed. Finally, this work build a simulated scenario based on real scene to verify the efficiency of DGN. The results of the experiment show that DGN outperforms its counterparts in terms of action prediction accuracy and landing success rate. © 2023 IEEE.

Aptamers are single-stranded DNA or RNA oligonucleotides that selectively bind to specific targets, making them valuable for drug design and diagnostic applications. Identifying the interactions between aptamers and target proteins is crucial for these applications. The systematic evolution of ligands by exponential enrichment process, traditionally used for this purpose, is challenging and time-consuming. The resulting aptamers often suffer from limitations in stability and diversity. Computational approaches have shown promise in aiding the discovery of high-performance aptamers, but existing methods are usually constrained by insufficient training data and limited generalizability. Recently, advancements in pre-training large language models have offered a new avenue to mitigate the dependency on large datasets. In this study, we propose a novel method to predict aptamer-protein interactions using large language models within a contrastive learning framework. Experimental results demonstrate that our method exhibits superior generalization and outperforms existing approaches. This method holds promise as a powerful tool for predicting aptamer-protein interactions. © 2024 IEEE.

Intelligent defect detection methods are important for the surface of the containment of nuclear power plants and face many challenges in the field of computer vision. Due to the irregular shapes and large variation of defects, as well as the similarity of the features between some defects and the background. Most existing deep learning-based defect detection networks suffer from insufficient feature extraction capabilities, making it difficult to detect defects from the background. Inspired by discrete representation learning methods, we propose a two-stage defect detection model called ConVQVAE, which uses a semi-supervised method for representation learning to achieve binary classification for defect detection. In addition, contrastive learning is performed in two stages to enhance the model's diversity representation ability and inter-class disentanglement representation ability. Finally, we experimentally verify that the proposed method can obtain good classification results. © 2023 IEEE.
