Delay recovery model for high-speed trains with compressed train dwell time and running time

Modeling the application of train operation adjustment actions to recover from delays is of great importance to supporting the decision-making of *** this study,the effects of two train operation adjustment actions on train delay recovery were explored using train operation records from scheduled and actual train ***,the modeling data were sorted to extract the possible influencing factors under two typical train operation adjustment actions,namely the compression of the train dwell time at stations and the compression of the train running time in *** regression methods were then employed to determine the importance of the influencing factors corresponding to the train delay recovery time,namely the delay time,the scheduled supplement time,the running interval,the occurrence time,and the place where the delay occurred,under the two train operation adjustment ***,the gradient-boosted regression tree(GBRT)algorithm was applied to construct a delay recovery model to predict the delay recovery effects of the train operation adjustment actions.A comparison of the prediction results of the GBRT model with those of a random forest model confirmed the better performance of the GBRT prediction model.

The rapid development of e-commerce leads to increasingly fierce competition in the logistics industry. Cost reduction and efficiency has become the key issue for logistics enterprises to survive. Loading optimization and path optimization are the two core issues in distribution activities, and they are inseparable and related. The joint optimization of the two is more in line with the actual distribution optimization needs. Based on the analysis of the interaction between routing and loading, this paper proposes a multi-objective optimization model with the minimum distribution cost, the minimum number of vehicles and the maximum customer satisfaction as the objectives. A hybrid nesting algorithm based on NSGAII algorithm is designed, in which the packing module is designed by tree search algorithm combined with the deepest and leftmost algorithm. Finally, the real data of China Railway Express Chengdu branch are taken as a case to verify the feasibility of the model and algorithm. The application of neural network in stock prediction is developing rapidly these years because of its excellency in series data processing. However, as most of research are conducted in English, data sources and labeled data are inadequate in Chinese. Especially for natural language processing tasks in specific domain where specialized labeled data are required to train models to adapt to terminology processing, specialized labeled Chinese in text data are very scarce, such as financial text data. To tackle this challenge, we proposed a semi-supervised learning method to generate well-labeled data and train BERT, a leading natural language processing model, to obtain a trained sentiment machine. Then we got stock-related text data sentiment score based on this machine and further combine the sentiment score and other transaction data as inputs for different neural networks to predict stock price. The experimental results on a large scale of Chinese stock data and texts showed that our proposed method successfully improved prediction accuracy compared to other established methods. Besides, we also examined our method’s applicability combined with different neural networks when predicting different types of stock. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2020.

With the development of Internet technology, online learning has gradually been widely used, which has further enriched the teaching methods. However, the indicators provided by online learning platforms to characterize students’ learning behaviors are still relatively small, it is hard to effectively evaluate students’ learning effects and provide personalized education for students. While students produce a large number of online data records during the learning process, if these data can be used to evaluate the learning effect of students and find indicators that are significantly related to the learning effect, it can help teachers know the learning status of students and provide them with more targeted guidance. The framework of this article includes: firstly collect online data of students’ learning, and determine major types of factors that affect the learning effect. Next, the original data is processed, and new features are constructed from the original data according to the factors that affect the learning effect. Then use several different methods to select the features that have the most significant impact on the learning effect, and use several regression methods to predict students’ academic performance. Finally, this article selects important features that are more relevant to learning effects, studies the relationship between these features. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Visual-semantic network: a visual and semantic enhanced model for gesture recognition

Gesture recognition has attracted considerable attention and made encouraging progress in recent years due to its great potential in applications. However, the spatial and temporal modeling in gesture recognition is still a problem to be solved. Specifically, existing works lack efficient temporal modeling and effective spatial attention capacity. To efficiently model temporal information, we first propose a long- and short-term temporal shift module (LS-TSM) that models the long-term and short-term temporal information simultaneously. Then, we propose a spatial attention module (SAM) that focuses on where the change primarily occurs to obtain effective spatial attention capacity. In addition, the semantic relationship among gestures is helpful in gesture recognition. However, this is usually neglected by previous works. Therefore, we propose a label relation module (LRM) that takes full advantage of the relationship among classes based on their labels’ semantic information. To explore the best form of LRM, we design four different semantic reconstruction methods to incorporate the semantic relationship information into the class label’s semantic space. We perform extensive ablation studies to analyze the best settings of each module. The best form of LRM is utilized to build our visual-semantic network (VS Network), which achieves the state-of-the-art performance on two gesture datasets, i.e., EgoGesture and NVGesture. © The Author(s) 2023.

This article attempts to establish a trading strategy framework based on deep neural networks for the futures market, which consists of two parts: time series forecasting and trading strategies based on trading signals. In the time series forecasting task, we experimented with three types of methods with different entry points, namely recurrent neural networks with gate structure, networks combining time and frequency domain information, and network structures using attention mechanism. In the trading strategy part, the buying and selling signals and the corresponding trading volume are established according to the prediction results, and trading is conducted with the frequency of hours. In the empirical exploration part, we tested the prediction effect and strategic rate of return of various models on the copper contract. The data shows that in general, the best strategy can obtain a relatively stable income growth that has nothing to do with market fluctuations, but lacks countermeasures for rare external events with greater impact. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2020.

To solve the stock prediction problem, we propose a deep learning model base on a hierarchical attention network. Our model is divided into two models. The first model is the article selection attention network that transfers the news into a low dimension vector. This model could identify the important factors in the news that affect the stock price. The second model is a time series attention network which combines the output of the first model and the transaction data as input. In this model, we could figure out the potential impact between different dates and summarize the historical data to predict whether the stock price will rise or fall. The most innovative concept in this paper is stock encoding. The model learns the difference between each stock and make predictions more accurate by using the stock encoding. The experimental result shows that the model fully utilize text features and make better predictions than related research papers. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2020.

Predicting the future price of financial assets has always been an important research topic in the field of quantitative finance. This paper attempts to use the latest artificial intelligence technologies to design and implement a framework for financial asset price prediction. The framework we use is divided into three modules: Feature engineering, Regressor, and Hyper Optimizer. The Feature engineering module extract multiple features using technical indicators, FinBERT, FFT, ARIMA, stacked auto-encoder, PCA and XGBoost. The Regressor module consists of a generative adversarial network, where the generator is Seq2Seq and the discriminator is GRU. The HyperOptimizer module will tune the parameter in GAN using the Bayesian optimization algorithm. Finally, we conducted numerical experiments on our framework, which shows that the framework implemented in this paper performs better than the benchmark method. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2020.

At the beginning of 2020, with the rapid spread of COVID-19 around the world, the passenger flow of subway has suffered from a serious impact. Based on the subway passenger flow data in Chicago, this article analyzes the impact of COVID-19 on rail transit passenger flow. ArcGIS is used to visualize the spatial-temporal distribution of the passenger flow of different stations during different time periods. Based on the fluctuation characteristics of passenger flow before and after the outbreak of COVID-19, one of the deep learning methods, the LSTM (Long-Short Term Memory) neural network model, is constructed to predict the passenger flow of each station in the scenario of no virus. The decline of passenger flow is calculated for each station. Stepwise regression model is constructed to determine factors that explain the decline in passenger flow, and significant factors are obtained: the original passenger flow, number of houses and jobs within 800m buffer zone, number of bus stops within 800m buffer zone, whether the station is a transfer station, distance from the station to the city center, and the number of low-income people. The results of the study show that after the outbreak of COVID-19, the passenger flow of the subway in Chicago experience a 'cliff-like' decline in the short term. The passenger flow in most areas dropped by more than 80%, and the passenger flow of some severely impacted stations dropped by more than 90%. Characteristics of the station and built environment factors of different stations influence the decline of passenger flow. © 2021 IEEE.

Sketches have risen as promising solutions for frequency estimation, which is one of the most fundamental tasks in approximate data stream processing. In many scenarios, users have a strong demand to apply sketches under the expected error constraints. In this paper, we explore how to configure sketch parameters to satisfy user-defined error constraints. We propose SketchConf, an automatic sketch configuration framework, which efficiently generates memory-optimal configurations for the first time. We show that SketchConf can be applied to order-independent sketches, including CM, Count, Tower, and Nitro sketches. We further discuss how to deal with the unknown and changeable workloads when applying SketchConf to the real scenarios of streaming data processing. Experimental results show that SketchConf can be up to 715.51 times faster than the baseline algorithm, and the outputted configurations save up to 99.99% memory and achieve up to 27.44 times throughput, compared with the theory-based configurations.
