Visual analytic systems usually provide multiple coordinated views (MCVs) to support dataanalysis and exploration. Coordination in visual graphics plays an important role in facilitating comprehensive analytical tasks, such as data comparison and cognitive inference. However, individual views in MCVs are probably designed for a specific purpose based on a particular type of data, and insufficient consideration of the intricate relationships among views may lead to inconsistency in visual representation and user interaction across different views. To better understand the inconsistency issues in MCVs and their impacts on user behaviors, this paper reports a study on the analysis and classification of visualization inconsistency based on the reviews of interactive visualization designs and visual analytic systems, and the interviews with stakeholders. We find that inconsistencies are prevalent in MCVs and frequently lead to misleading or even incorrect results. We classify the discovered inconsistencies based on a coordination model of MCVs, and develop an empirical guide for systematic and efficient visualization consistency checking in the design, implementation, and evaluation stage.

We propose Edit-History Vis, a visual analytics system designed to facilitate interactive exploration on Wikipedia edit history at a fine-grained level. The examination of detailed changes in Wikipedia articles is crucial for understanding how authors’ perspectives vary and conflict during the collaborative editing process. However, it is challenging to reveal the details while preserving the heterogeneous attributes of revisions, namely the time, content, and editor. The Edit-History Vis system integrates editor and textual changes of revisions by utilizing a force-directed revision graph that groups revisions based on standpoints. Through this revision graph, users can identify and analyze editing events such as edit wars, vandalism, repair, and normal updates. The effectiveness of the system in analyzing the edit history is validated through a qualitative comparison with prior work and a quantitative rating from a user study.

China’s distinctive resource endowment, characterized by abundant coal, limited oil, and scarce gas, shapes the long-term development focus on coal power. However, the requirement for stable combustion imposes limitations on the deep peak-shaving flexibility of coal power. While previous studies have explored the technical feasibility of deep peak shaving for coal power, there is a scarcity of research addressing the delicate balance between the costs of flexibility retrofitting and the benefits of promoting renewable energy integration in power system. To this end, in this paper, we develop an optimal planning technology for the flexibility retrofitting of coal plants. The proposed technology employs a capacity expansion and dispatch model which formulate a flexibility retrofitting plan for coal-fired power plants and a configuration scheme for battery energy storage. Incorporating the proposed model and real-world data from power grid in Yunnan, China, we assess the decarbonization potential of coal fleet flexibility. The experimental results demonstrate that coal fleet flexibility effectively reduces renewable energy curtailment by 3.0% and decreases carbon emissions by more than 6 megatons compared to the coal fleet without retrofitting. Furthermore, the flexibility retrofitting of coal-fired power plants is projected to yield a 12.5% total cost reduction and a 11.1% decrease in coal power generation.

Intellectual property transactions have shown a strong growth momentum in recent years, but the patent transaction market has been plagued by the matching degree of consumers and sellers, resulting in frequent problems such as low patent transformation efficiency and poor transaction quality. This paper proposes a method of recommending patents to consumers by experts to improve the environment of patent transactions. Through the analysis of the past transaction information of the patent, the effective path information of the target is extracted. The graph neural network is used to describe the characteristics and semantics among experts, patents and consumers, and then capture the potential weight among them through the common attention mechanism, and then dynamically integrate them to predict the occurrence of recommendation behavior. The paper makes reasonable use of social information and expert information in the transaction, which significantly improves the rationality and accuracy of expert recommendation.

As the largest source of technical information around the world, patents are regarded as an essential crystallization and carrier of knowledge and technological innovation. Patent transformation is conducive not only to enhancing economic efficiency, but also to improving productivity and the rational utilization of resources. There is an imbalance between high patent ownership and low transformation rates. We try to predict the occurrence of transformation events from the patent assignment. However, there are some challenges in predicting patent transformation: (1) how to capture transformation features of patents, especially combined with the transfer time factor. (2) how to predict patent transfer time effectively. To address these challenges, a Patent Transfer Time Forecasting Model (PTTFM) is proposed. The model includes: (1) extraction of time-varying features of patents. (2) the patent transfer time is forecast using a Neural Temporal Point Process. By testing the model on patents under different classifications, the experimental results are obtained to show that the proposed model is applicable to predict the timing of patent assignment within a certain time frame, especially one month. Our work may facilitate patent transformation while interpretability is ensured for transformation events.

Hydrogen storage technology, as one of the core technologies in the hydrogen energy industry chain, is directly related to the efficient utilization and safe transportation of hydrogen energy. Currently, existing literature overlooks the impact of the wrapping patterns of composite layers, which can cause hydrogen storage containers to exhibit different stress characteristics. In this paper, a Type III hydrogen storage tank model is established to analyze the flow field during the filling process, obtaining the internal pressure load distribution. Subsequently, three different wrapping patterns are modeled to comparatively analyze the stress conditions of the hydrogen storage tank under these patterns. Case studies based on ANSYS reveal that when the wrapping angle tends more towards 90° or 0°, the stress conditions on the composite layers tend to be more extreme, while the stress conditions on the inner liner improve, resulting in a higher maximum stress. This trend gradually diminishes from the inner layers to the outer layers. Moreover, the stress distribution in each layer is related to the wrapping direction of that layer, i.e., the fiber direction, and the position of the layer within the stack, and is almost unaffected by other layers.
