In this paper, we study steady flows in data streams, which refers to those flows whose arrival rate is always non-zero and around a fixed value for several consecutive time windows. To find steady flows in real time, we propose a novel sketch, SteadySketch, aiming to accurately report steady flows with limited memory. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work to define and find steady flows in data streams. The key novelty of SteadySketch is our proposed reborn technique, which reduces the required memory space by 75%. Experimental results show that SteadySketch improves the Precision Rate (PR) by 81.1% and reduces the Average Relative Error (ARE) by 955.3× compared with the strawman solution. Finally, we provide a concrete case: cache prefetch, and prove that SteadySketch can effectively improve the cache hit ratio. All related codes of SteadySketch are open-source and available at GitHub.

Sketches have risen as promising solutions for frequency estimation, which is one of the most fundamental tasks in approximate data stream processing. In many scenarios, users have a strong demand to apply sketches under the expected error constraints. In this paper, we explore how to configure sketch parameters to satisfy user-defined error constraints. We propose SketchConf, an automatic sketch configuration framework, which efficiently generates memory-optimal configurations for the first time. We show that SketchConf can be applied to order-independent sketches, including CM, Count, Tower, and Nitro sketches. We further discuss how to deal with the unknown and changeable workloads when applying SketchConf to the real scenarios of streaming data processing. Experimental results show that SketchConf can be up to 715.51 times faster than the baseline algorithm, and the outputted configurations save up to 99.99% memory and achieve up to 27.44 times throughput, compared with the theory-based configurations. Vehicular ad hoc networks(VANETs)provide intelligent navigation and efficient route management,resulting in time savings and cost reductions in the transportation ***,the exchange of beacons and messages over public channels among vehicles and roadside units renders these networks vulnerable to numerous attacks and privacy *** address these challenges,several privacy and security preservation protocols based on blockchain and public key cryptography have been proposed ***,most of these schemes are limited by a long execution time and massive communication costs,which make them inefficient for on-board units(OBUs).Additionally,some of them are still susceptible to many *** such,this study presents a novel protocol based on the fusion of elliptic curve cryptography(ECC)and bilinear pairing(BP)*** formal security analysis is accomplished using the Burrows–Abadi–Needham(BAN)logic,demonstrating that our scheme is verifiably *** proposed scheme’s informal security assessment also shows that it provides salient security features,such as non-repudiation,anonymity,and ***,the scheme is shown to be resilient against attacks,such as packet replays,forgeries,message falsifications,and *** the performance perspective,this protocol yields a 37.88%reduction in communication overheads and a 44.44%improvement in the supported security ***,the proposed scheme can be deployed in VANETs to provide robust security at low overheads.

Stencil is a basic building block widely used in many HPC areas and applications. It generally dominates the time cost and is critical to the overall performance. Given that heterogeneous many-core is frequently adopted to build super computers, porting and optimizing stencil codes on modern accelerator-based architectures is important. Porting is non-trivial, and optimization is more difficult as it requires better understanding of the underlying architecture. As a result, auto tuning targeting on accelerators such as GPU becomes a hot research topic. In this paper, we focus on tuning stencil automatically on SW26010, which is a heterogeneous many-core CPU equipped in Sunway TaihuLight SuperComputer, and mainly work on 2D stencil variants code in ROMS (Regional Ocean Modeling System). The code generator can generate codes running on slave cores for 50+ different FORTRAN stencil-alike loops in ROMS in seconds, and optimization methods are integrated into the generator as well. The performance is better than the directive based method (OpenACC) and the hand-drafted code by a junior programmer, and it is comparable compared with the code written by a senior programmer with several years of programming experience. © 2019 IEEE.

Stock investment is one of the available conventional financial commodities in the investment market. The individual price of stocks including stocks in the field of industrial, medical, financial, overall, etc. Is subject to many different aspects. The relationship between aspects, the international economy, and the stock price is complex and is not easy to be categorized. Moreover, the trend of the world increases the cooperation and links between countries and different nations. Many agreements in tourism, trade, etc. Are signed between countries. In this paper, we focus on the effect on the stock prices caused by the agreements signed between Taiwan and other countries. The time series method is utilized to analyze the effect on the stock price forecasting caused by 5 of the incidents including WTO, Taiwan-Nicaragua FTA, Taiwan-Honduras FTA, and Taiwan-Japan BIA. Both the pre-event and the post-event periods are included for observing the fluctuation behavior of the stock market price. The MAPE value is used as the criterion to verify the correctness of the forecasting result. The MAPE values obtained in all experiments are all less than 10%. It implies that the time series method presents good forecasting ability in the analyzed cases. © 2016 IEEE.

1data stream mining over a sliding window is a fundamental problem in many applications, such as financial data trackers, intrusion detection and QoS. To meet the demand for high throughput of high speed data streams, sliding window algorithms turn to hardware platforms including FPGA/ASIC and programmable switches. These hardware platforms have three constraints for algorithms running on, which are 1) small memory usage 2) single stage memory access and 3) limited concurrent memory access. Algorithms perfectly fit in with these constraints will enable a highest utilization of these hardware platforms. However, no existing sliding window algorithm is specifically designed for hardware platforms. In this paper, we propose the Sliding Hardware Estimator (SHE), which is a generic framework that extends existing fixed window algorithms to sliding windows on hardware platforms. The key idea of SHE is that, during insertions we approximately delete out-dated information with little time and space overhead, while during queries we design sophisticated techniques to minimize error. We have fully implemented our SHE on FPGA, achieving a throughput of 544 Mips. We apply SHE to four typical data stream mining tasks. Experimental results show that, when compared with the state-of-the-art which cannot be implemented in hardware, SHE reduces the error by up to 100 times in membership queries. Restricted by their energy storage mechanism,current energy storage devices have certain drawbacks,such as low power density for batteries and low energy density for ***,the nearest ion capacitors,such as lithium-ion and sodium-ion capacitors containing battery-type and capacitor-type electrodes,may allow achieving both high energy and power *** the inspiration,a new zinc-ion capacitor(ZIC)has been designed and realized by assembling the free-standing manganese dioxide-carbon nanotubes(MnO2-CNTs)battery-type cathode and MXene(Ti3C2Tx)capacitortype anode in an aqueous *** ZIC can avoid the insecurity issues that frequently occurred in lithium-ion and sodium-ion capacitors in organic *** expected,the ZIC in an aqueous liquid electrolyte exhibits excellent electrochemical performance(based on the total weight of cathode and anode),such as a high specific capacitance of 115.1 F g?1(1 mV s?1),high energy density of 98.6 Wh kg?1(77.5 W kg?1),high power density of 2480.6 W kg?1(29.7 Wh kg?1),and high capacitance retention of^83.6%of its initial capacitance(15,000 cycles).Even in an aqueous gel electrolyte,the ZIC also exhibits excellent *** work provides an essential strategy for designing next-generation high-performance energy storage devices.

In this paper, we propose a new type of item in data streams, called simplex items. Simplex items have frequencies in consecutive p windows that can be approximated by a polynomial of degree at most k, where k = 0, 1, 2. These low-order representable simplex items have a wide range of potential applications. For example, when k = 1, we can leverage these items whose frequency has obvious linear increase or decrease to speed up the running time of a class of machine learning models and detect network attacks such as distributed denial-of-service (DDoS), etc. To find k-degree simplex items in real time, we propose a novel sketch, namely X-Sketch, to accurately record simplex items in a compact space. The key idea of X-Sketch is to effectively filter out non-simplex items with less memory overhead, and then monitor the remaining potential simplex items and keep those items with more consecutive windows. We conduct extensive experiments, and the experimental results show that the F1 Score of X-Sketch is on average 68.6%, 57.9%, and 42.2% higher than the baseline solution for k = 0, 1, 2, respectively. Finally, we also provide a case study that applies X-Sketch to "accelerate"the two machine learning models through end-to-end experiments. We have released our source code at GitHub. © 2023 IEEE.
