Recent years have witnessed significant progress in developing deep learning-based models for automated code completion. Examples of such models include CodeGPT and StarCoder. These models are typically trained from a large amount of source code collected from open-source communities such as GitHub. Although using source code in GitHub has been a common practice for training deep-learning-based models for code completion, it may induce some legal and ethical issues such as copyright infringement. In this paper, we investigate the legal and ethical issues of current neural code completion models by answering the following question: Is my code used to train your neural code completion model? To this end, we tailor a membership inference approach (termed CodeMI) that was originally crafted for classification tasks to a more challenging task of code completion. In particular, since the target code completion models perform as opaque black boxes, preventing access to their training data and parameters, we opt to train multiple shadow models to mimic their behavior. The acquired posteriors from these shadow models are subsequently employed to train a membership classifier. Subsequently, the membership classifier can be effectively employed to deduce the membership status of a given code sample based on the output of a target code completion model. We comprehensively evaluate the effectiveness of this adapted approach across a diverse array of neural code completion models, (i.e., LSTM-based, CodeGPT, CodeGen, and StarCoder). Experimental results reveal that the LSTM-based and CodeGPT models suffer the membership leakage issue, which can be easily detected by our proposed membership inference approach with an accuracy of 0.842, and 0.730, respectively. Interestingly, our experiments also show that the data membership of current large language models of code, e.g., CodeGen and StarCoder, is difficult to detect, leaving amper space for further improvement. Anaerobic fermentation is the most important link to gas production, this paper solves the current problem with the help of the current complete machine learning technology, combining perception and intelligent processing, intelligent processing of information, and derive a decision-making basis for its control or management [1]. Aiming at the current problems of the anaerobic fermentation process in biogas engineering, the system design was carried out, and the anaerobic fermentation process of biogas and its main influencing factors were investigated, and the monitoring parameters of the system were selected to be temperature, PH value, liquid level and redox potential [2]. Previous studies are mainly based on a single prediction model, which leads to poor generalization ability of the model. In this study, unbalanced samples are handled by Borderline-SMOTE algorithm. Based on the Stacking integrated learning approach, a common single prediction model is used to construct a combined prediction model. The accuracy, precision, recall, F1 score and area under the ROC curve are used to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of the combined prediction model over the single prediction model. ©2024 IEEE.

Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG)-based blockchain (a.k.a distributed ledger) has become prevalent for supporting highly concurrent applications. Its inherent parallel data structure accelerates block generation significantly, shifting the bottleneck from performance to storage scalability. An intuitive solution is to apply state sharding that divides the entire ledger (i.e., transactions and states) into multiple shards. While each node only stores proportional transactions, it suffers from the challenges of storing and ensuring the processing consistency of cross-shard transactions. In this paper, we propose SharDAG, a new mechanism that leverages adaptive sharding for DAG-based blockchains to achieve high performance and strong consistency. The key idea of SharDAG is to exploit unique characteristics - silent assets - and design a lightweight processing mechanism based on avatar account caching. Furthermore, we design a Byzantine resilient cross-shard verification mechanism with a theoretically optimal number of participating nodes, which guarantees the consistency and security of avatar account aggregation. Our comprehensive evaluations on real-world workloads demonstrate that SharDAG presents up to 3.8 x throughput improvement compared to the state-of-the-art and reduces the storage overhead of cross-shard transactions.

Hypergraph Neural Network (HyperGNN) has emerged as a potent methodology for dissecting intricate multilateral connections among various entities. Current software/hardware solutions leverage a sequential execution model that relies on hyperedge and vertex indices for conducting standard matrix operations for HyperGNN inference. Yet, they are impeded by the dual challenges of redundant computation and irregular memory access overheads. This is primarily due to the frequent and repetitive access and updating of a number of feature vectors corresponding to the same hyperedges and vertices. To address these challenges, we propose the first redundancy-aware accelerator, RAHP, which enables high performance execution of HyperGNN inference. Specifically, we present a redundancy-aware asynchronous execution approach into the accelerator design for HyperGNN to reduce redundant computations and off-chip memory accesses. To unveil opportunities for data reuse and unlock the parallelism that existing HyperGNN solutions fail to capture, it prioritizes vertices with the highest degree as roots, prefetching other vertices along the hypergraph structure to capture the common vertices among multiple hyperedges, and synchronizing the computations of hyperedges and vertices in real-time. By such means, this facilitates the concurrent processing of relevant hyperedge and vertex computations of the common vertices along the hypergraph topology, resulting in smaller redundant computations overhead. Furthermore, by efficiently caching intermediate results of the common vertices, it curtails memory traffic and off-chip communications. To fully harness the performance potential of our proposed approach in the accelerator, RAHP incorporates a topology-driven data loading mechanism to minimize off-chip memory accesses on the fly. We propose a semantic template-based distributed representation for the convolutional neural network called Semantic Template-based Convolutional Neural Network (STCNN) for text categorization that imitates the perceptual behavior of human comprehension. STCNN is a highly automatic approach that learns semantic templates that characterize a domain from raw text and recognizes categories of documents using a semantic-infused convolutional neural network that allows a template to be partially matched through a statistical scoring system. Our experiment results show that STCNN effectively classifies documents in about 140,000 Chinese news articles into predefined categories by capturing the most prominent and expressive patterns and achieves the best performance among all compared methods for Chinese topic classification. Finally, the same knowledge can be directly used to perform a semantic analysis task. © 2023 held by the owner/author(s). Publication rights licensed to ACM.

Relation clustering is a general approach for open relation extraction (OpenRE). Current methods have two major problems. One is that their good performance relies on large amounts of labeled and pre-defined relational instances for pre-training, which are costly to acquire in reality. The other is that they only focus on learning a high-dimensional metric space to measure the similarity of novel relations and ignore the specific relational representations of clusters. In this work, we propose a new prompt-based framework named MatchPrompt, which can realize OpenRE with efficient knowledge transfer from only a few predefined relational instances as well as mine the specific meanings for cluster interpretability. To our best knowledge, we are the first to introduce a prompt-based framework for unlabeled clustering. Experimental results on different datasets show that MatchPrompt achieves the new SOTA results for OpenRE. © 2022 Association for Computational Linguistics.

The emergence of large-scale dynamic sets in real applications brings severe challenges in approximate set representation structures. A dynamic set with changing cardinality requires an elastic capacity of the approximate set representation structure, while traditional static structures, e.g., bloom filter, cuckoo filter, and their variants cannot satisfy the requirements. Existing dynamic approximate set representation structures only provide filter-level extensions, which require a single membership query to probe all discrete filters one by one. The large number of small discrete memory accesses takes up the vast majority of query time and results in unsatisfied query performance. To address the problem, in this work we propose the entry-extensible cuckoo filter (E2CF) to reduce memory access overhead for dynamic set representation and accelerate the membership query. E2CF utilizes adjacent buckets with continuous physical addresses in a cuckoo filter to extend bucket entries, which avoids many discrete memory accesses in a query. To further make E2CF space and time efficient, we adopt asynchronous extension and fine-grained splitting methods. Experiment results show that compared to state-of-the-art designs, E2CF reduces the query and insertion time by 82% and 28%, respectively. © 2021, IFIP International Federation for Information Processing.

Although cloud computing saves the cost of enterprises and individuals to manage data in various applications on public cloud servers, it also causes the problem of the leakage of critical personal information and sensitive data. Therefore, the issues about data privacy of the published personal information have become a challenging problem. Most of the existing methods focus on cryptography-based techniques by encrypting the sensitive data before publishing. However, these techniques are either too computation expensive or only some authorized users can get access to the encrypted cloud data. The consequence is that the search response time is not satisfactory and the sharing extent of the cloud data is becoming limited. Motivated by this, we propose a perturbation-based method to preserve the privacy of data in cloud. To accelerate the query processing without privacy breaches, a high-efficiency multi-dimensional index is built for answering range counting queries under differential privacy, which embeds privacy-preserving R-tree index in Content Addressable Network. Experimental results demonstrate that our methods not only protect data privacy in different degree, but also accelerate the query speed efficiently. Compared with the existing method Quad-opt, our method provides about 20% better data utility under the same differential privacy principles. © 2019 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

ECLIPSE: Expunging Clean-label Indiscriminate Poisons via Sparse Diffusion Purification

Clean-label indiscriminate poisoning attacks add invisible perturbations to correctly labeled training images, thus dramatically reducing the generalization capability of the victim models. Recently, defense mechanisms such as adversarial training, image transformation techniques, and image purification have been proposed. However, these schemes are either susceptible to adaptive attacks, built on unrealistic assumptions, or only effective against specific poison types, limiting their universal applicability. In this research, we propose a more universally effective, practical, and robust defense scheme called ECLIPSE. We first investigate the impact of Gaussian noise on the poisons and theoretically prove that any kind of poison will be largely assimilated when imposing sufficient random noise. In light of this, we assume the victim has access to an extremely limited number of clean images (a more practical scene) and subsequently enlarge this sparse set for training a denoising probabilistic model (a universal denoising tool). We then introduce Gaussian noise to absorb the poisons and apply the model for denoising, resulting in a roughly purified dataset. Finally, to address the trade-off of the inconsistency in the assimilation sensitivity of different poisons by Gaussian noise, we propose a lightweight corruption compensation module to effectively eliminate residual poisons, providing a more universal defense approach. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our defense approach outperforms 10 state-of-the-art defenses.
