In the scenario of black-box adversarial attack, the target model's parameters are unknown, and the attacker aims to find a successful adversarial perturbation based on query feedback under a query budget. Due to the limited feedback information, existing query-based black-box attack methods often require many queries for attacking each benign example. To reduce query cost, we propose to utilize the feedback information across historical attacks, dubbed example-level adversarial transferability. Specifically, by treating the attack on each benign example as one task, we develop a meta-learning framework by training a meta generator to produce perturbations conditioned on benign examples. When attacking a new benign example, the meta generator can be quickly fine-tuned based on the feedback information of the new task as well as a few historical attacks to produce effective perturbations. Moreover, since the meta-train procedure consumes many queries to learn a generalizable generator, we utilize model-level adversarial transferability to train the meta generator on a white-box surrogate model, then transfer it to help the attack against the target model. The proposed framework with the two types of adversarial transferability can be naturally combined with any off-the-shelf query-based attack methods to boost their performance, which is verified by extensive experiments. GPUs are essential to accelerating the latency-sensitive deep neural network (DNN) inference workloads in cloud datacenters. To fully utilize GPU resources, spatial sharing of GPUs among co-located DNN inference workloads becomes increasingly compelling. However, GPU sharing inevitably brings severe performance interference among co-located inference workloads, as motivated by an empirical measurement study of DNN inference on EC2 GPU instances. While existing works on guaranteeing inference performance service level objectives (SLOs) focus on either temporal sharing of GPUs or reactive GPU resource scaling and inference migration techniques, how to proactively mitigate such severe performance interference has received comparatively little attention. In this paper, we propose iGniter, an interference-aware GPU resource provisioning framework for cost-efficiently achieving predictable DNN inference in the cloud. iGniter is comprised of two key components: (1) a lightweight DNN inference performance model, which leverages the system and workload metrics that are practically accessible to capture the performance interference;(2) A cost-efficient GPU resource provisioning strategy that jointly optimizes the GPU resource allocation and adaptive batching based on our inference performance model, with the aim of achieving predictable performance of DNN inference workloads. We implement a prototype of iGniter based on the NVIDIA Triton inference server hosted on EC2 GPU instances. Extensive prototype experiments on four representative DNN models and datasets demonstrate that iGniter can guarantee the performance SLOs of DNN inference workloads with practically acceptable runtime overhead, while saving the monetary cost by up to 25% in comparison to the state-of-the-art GPU resource provisioning strategies. In practical satellite-based quantum key distribution (QKD) systems, the preparation and transmission of polarization-encoding photons suffer from complex environmental effects and high channel-loss. Consequently, the hinge to enhancing the secure key rate (SKR) lies in achieving robust, low-error and high-speed polarization modulation. Although the schemes that realize self-compensation exhibit remarkable robustness. Their modulation speed is constrained to approximately 2 GHz to avoid the interaction between the electrical signal and the reverse optical pulses. Here we utilize the non-reciprocity of the lithium niobate modulators and eliminate the modulation on the reverse optical pulses. As this characteristic is widely available in the radio-frequency band, the modulation speed is no longer limited by the self-compensating optics and can be further increased. The measured average intrinsic QBER of the different polarization states at 10 GHz system repetition frequency is as low as 0.53% over 10 min without any compensation. And the experiment simulation shows that the proposed scheme extends the transmission distance to more than 350 km. Our work can be be efficient performed to the high-speed and high-loss satellite-based quantum communication scenario. © 2024, CC BY.

IoT blockchain suffers heavy performance issues because of the massive transactions generated by various IoT nodes. By dividing nodes into different shards, sharding can produce blocks in parallel and hence improve the throughput of the blockchain system. Unlike the traditional blockchain system, IoT blockchain mainly consists of smart devices and the transactions are usually generated from the real world, such as the sensor data, photos taken by cameras, and so on. In IoT blockchain, closer nodes usually share a lower network latency and the transactions they generate are more related. Therefore, location-based sharding is an effective approach to improve the performance of IoT blockchain. Traditionally, IoT nodes are di-vided into different shards based on geographical locations or the connected edge server. However, the key challenge of sharding in IoT blockchain is how to guarantee the equality of shards division as to the unpredictable distribution and the dynamic behavior of IoT nodes. On one hand, shards can not be pre-divided because we can not predict the number or the distribution of the IoT nodes. On the other hand, nodes continuously joining or quitting shards will also break the equality of the shards division. In this paper, we propose Fission, a sharding mechanism designed for IoT blockchain. Fission divide shards based on the Voronoi diagram without any preknowledge about the nodes distribution, and support dynamic, autonomous sharding adjustment based on distributed Delaunay Triangulation. In addition, Fission uses a new diffusion-based consensus algorithm to achieve the linear scalability of throughput. The experimental results show that Fission can construct and adjust shards at a very low cost and can execute in a decentralized manner. The throughput can reach 1900tps in 500 nodes with only 5M bps bandwidth, and can scale linearly as the nodes increase.

Commit messages are natural language descriptions of code changes, which are important for software evolution such as code understanding and maintenance. However, previous methods are trained on the entire dataset without considering the fact that a portion of commit messages adhere to good practice (i.e., good-practice commits), while the rest do not. On the basis of our empirical study, we discover that training on good-practice commits significantly contributes to the commit message generation. Motivated by this finding, we propose a novel knowledge-aware denoising learning method called KADEL. Considering that good-practice commits constitute only a small proportion of the dataset, we align the remaining training samples with these good-practice commits. To achieve this, we propose a model that learns the commit knowledge by training on good-practice commits. This knowledge model enables supplementing more information for training samples that do not conform to good practice. However, since the supplementary information may contain noise or prediction errors, we propose a dynamic denoising training method. This method composes a distribution-aware confidence function and a dynamic distribution list, which enhances the effectiveness of the training process. Experimental results on the whole MCMD dataset demonstrate that our method overall achieves state-of-the-art performance compared with previous methods. © 2024, CC BY.

Implant prosthesis is the most appropriate treatment for dentition defect or dentition loss, which usually involves a surgical guide design process to decide the implant position. However, such design heavily relies on the subjective experiences of dentists. In this paper, a transformer-based Implant Position Regression Network, ImplantFormer, is proposed to automatically predict the implant position based on the oral CBCT data. We creatively propose to predict the implant position using the 2D axial view of the tooth crown area and fit a centerline of the implant to obtain the actual implant position at the tooth root. Convolutional stem and decoder are designed to coarsely extract image features before the operation of patch embedding and integrate multi-level feature maps for robust prediction, respectively. As both long-range relationship and local features are involved, our approach can better represent global information and achieves better location performance. Extensive experiments on a dental implant dataset through five-fold cross-validation demonstrated that the proposed ImplantFormer achieves superior performance than existing methods. Leakage current of low-voltage power grid lines will cause major safety hazards such as personal electric shock and electrical fire. Traditional leakage current protectors can not play their due protection role due to their quality problems and aging, and other reasons. When leakage current accidents occur, traditional manual troubleshooting is inefficient. Aiming at the safety of leakage current in a low-voltage power grid, a new leakage current monitoring system is designed based on NB-IoT technology. Metabolic engineering for biomass production using microorganisms' cell has received considerable attention in recent years. This is due to the biomass products being extensively used in the field of food additives, supplements, pharmaceuticals, and polymer materials. In this paper, ethanol production in Escherichia coli (E. coli) is the desired product. Sugarcane and corn are often used to produce ethanol. However, one of the problems to produce adequate amounts of ethanol is that large areas are needed to plant sugarcane and corn. Furthermore, the amount of time for the process of dry milling and wet milling is high, which are 40 to 50 hours and 24 to 48 hours, respectively. The wet laboratory is also having limitation on the production of ethanol in microorganisms because the amount of the ethanol produced is not satisfying. Hence, a lot of metabolic engineering techniques is introduced to enhance the production of ethanol in E. coli, such as gene knockout strategy, but the production is yet to meet the demand. Therefore, this paper proposes a hybrid algorithm of Particle Swarm Optimization with the Artificial Bee Colony algorithm (PSOABC) to identify the optimal set of gene knockout strategy to improve the ethanol production in E. coli. A list of genes to knockout, production of the desired product, and growth rate are presented in this paper. PSOABC has shown better performance in terms of production, growth rate and accuracy. © 2022 Association for Computing Machinery.

Traffic prediction is the basis for dynamic network services and resource optimization. Software Defined Networking (SDN) provides a global view for network measurement and management, and a reliable way for network information collection and network traffic prediction. Recently, SDN traffic prediction model enabled by deep learning mainly focuses on mining the temporal correlation of traffic data, while the modeling of its spatial correlation remains to be explored. From the perspective of the problem, a novel Spatial-Temporal Residual Graph Convolutional Network (STRGCN) model for SDN Traffic Matrix (TM) prediction is proposed. Combined with SDN network topology, TM prediction is defined as time series data prediction in non-Euclidean space. Temporal Gated-Conv Blocks are based on Gated Convolutional Layer, and Spatial Graph-Conv Blocks are based on Graph Convolutional Network (GCN). Through identity mapping between Spatial-Temporal Conv Blocks, the deep spatial and temporal features extraction is implemented. Tested by TM data from CERNET and GÉANT datasets, the accuracy and the timely performance of our model are evaluated. Experimental results suggest that the general performance of STRGCN for TM prediction in SDN is superior to the current deep learning models.
