Recently, the combination of spatial modulation (SM) and non- orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) is proposed to enhance the spectral efficiency (SE) of downlink multi-user (MU) systems. However, traditional SM aided NOMA (SM-NOMA) systems require many radio frequency (RF) chains, which increases the implementation cost and lowers the energy efficiency (EE). In this paper, we propose a novel single-RF SM-NOMA system, in which the spatial domain bits can be flexibly divided for different user equipments (UEs). In addition, we analyze the SE of our proposed single-RF SM-NOMA system, and a closed-form SE lower bound is also derived. The tightness of our proposed SE lower bound is validated via Monte Carlo simulations, and the SE comparisons of different SM-NOMA systems are also shown, which illustrates the effectiveness of the proposed single-RF SM-NOMA system.

In order to explore the effects of super-fast freezing (SFF) on beef quality, conventional chilling (CC, 0 ± 2 °C) and very fast chilling (VFC, hot-boned beef loins chilled at -30 °C and then stored at 0 ± 2 °C to bring the temperature down to 0 °C within 5 h post-mortem) were used as controls to investigate the effects of three SFF treatments (-30 °C until the core temperature decreased to -3 °C (SFF-I), -7 °C (SFF-II) and -10 °C (SFF-III), and then stored at 0 ± 2 °C until 24 h post-mortem) on beef tenderness, meat color, water holding capacity, and other related indicators. The results showed that both SFF and VFC improved the tenderness of beef at the early stage of storage compared with CC, and of these SFF-II and SFF-III were the most effective. The SFF has the potential to reduce the cooking loss but increases the purge loss of beef. In addition, SFF has a negative effect on the meat color, but the a* value is still within the acceptable range of consumers. After being treated by SFF, the rate of beef glycolysis was delayed post-mortem. In addition, SFF treatment did not cause a large degree of shortening of sarcomere, but disrupted the muscle fiber structure, contributing to the improvement of muscle tenderness. The results indicate that pre-rigor beef muscles can be deeply frozen, which will not cause obvious shortening with proper freezing and thawing procedures.

This study compared the aroma-active compounds in 14 brands of commercially infant formula and investigated their changes during ambient storage after opening for 2 months. A total of 29 major aroma-active compounds were detected in infant formula. From the PCA and heatmap analysis, a total of 14 brands of infant formula were classified into 3 groups, the second group contained JLB-Y, AY and FH-F, of which 2-furanmethanol and (E,E)-3,5-octadien-2-one were mainly compounds, the third group contained YL and JLB-L, the characteristic flavor compounds in this group were mainly hexanal, heptanal, etc. Aldehydes, as the main volatile substances, account for more than half of the total volatiles. Nearly half of the aldehydes showed more significant changes after storage, e.g. hexanal, octanal, (E)-2-octenal and 3-methylbutyraldehyde. The YL and YP-Q produced more saturated aldehydes after storage, the concentration of hexanal in YL-2m and YP-Q-2m was 2138.5 μg/kg and 2004.1μg/kg, respectively. The concentrations of heptanal, octanal, and nonanal also increased relatively significantly, which may lead to a distinct rancid flavor in YL and YP-Q. Besides, among the ketones, (E,E)-3,5-octadien-2-one showed the greatest change after storage, especially in JLB-L. According to sensory evaluation experiments, the milky flavor of infant formulas decreased and fatty, rancid, fishy and grassy flavors were found to have increased to different extents after storage. The current information gap on the concentration and evolution of volatile compounds in commercially available infant formula is filled by this study.

Emotion plays a crucial role in humans' daily life, which affects the decision and communication of human. Moreover, the effective recognition of emotion is essential to establish the affective Human-Computer Interaction (aHCI) systems. In this work, we mainly focus on feature extraction from the brain networks constructed with EEG to perform the emotion recognition. The analysis based on the public emotion dataset MAHNOB-HCI reveals that the proposed approach could achieved 100.00%, 99.95% and 99.99% for Negative-Neutral, Negative-Positive, and Positive-Neutral paired emotion states, respectively. Compared with the previous work for MAHNOB-HCI dataset, the proposed approach achieved the better classification results, and the experiment results have indicated that the feature extracted from brain networks is promising for the emotion classification.

We propose a fundamental theorem for eco-environmental surface modelling(FTEEM) in order to apply it into the fields of ecology and environmental science more easily after the fundamental theorem for Earth’s surface system modeling(FTESM). The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei(BTH) region is taken as a case area to conduct empirical studies of algorithms for spatial upscaling, spatial downscaling, spatial interpolation, data fusion and model-data assimilation, which are based on high accuracy surface modelling(HASM), corresponding with corollaries of FTEEM. The case studies demonstrate how eco-environmental surface modelling is substantially improved when both extrinsic and intrinsic information are used along with an appropriate method of HASM. Compared with classic algorithms, the HASM-based algorithm for spatial upscaling reduced the root-meansquare error of the BTH elevation surface by 9 m. The HASM-based algorithm for spatial downscaling reduced the relative error of future scenarios of annual mean temperature by 16%. The HASM-based algorithm for spatial interpolation reduced the relative error of change trend of annual mean precipitation by 0.2%. The HASM-based algorithm for data fusion reduced the relative error of change trend of annual mean temperature by 70%. The HASM-based algorithm for model-data assimilation reduced the relative error of carbon stocks by 40%. We propose five theoretical challenges and three application problems of HASM that need to be addressed to improve FTEEM.

One drawback of contactless current measurement by magnetic sensor is that its detected results can be easily affected by the superposition of the external magnetic interference. Damping the effect of the noise is complex and delicate without the knowledge of the interference. The usage of magnetic shielding is one potent way to compensate the shortcoming. However, complete magnetic shielding fails to provide the shielding for the shielding only happens within the material. Therefore, in this paper, a separated double-layer structure with the gap is proposed for large current measurement with strong magnetic noise from random places. The ambition is to keep the targeted magnetic field within the shielding stable even when exposed to strong magnetic interference environment. Parameters of the designed structure are investigated and the validation of the structure is confirmed by finite element analysis method when the magnitude of the current under measurement ranging up to 1000 A. From FEA method, when the interference is at arbitrary places around the conductor, the standard deviation without and with noise is less than 0.13, authenticating the efficacy of this shielding structure. © 2018 IEEE.

According to the standard for the GSM for railway(GSM-R) wireless systems in China train control system level 3(CTCS-3),the control data transfer delay should be no larger than 500 ms with greater than99% *** of both non-redundant networks and intercross redundant networks and cases of single Mobile terminals(MTs) and redundant MTs on one train are considered,and the corresponding vehicle-ground communication models,delay models,and fault models are *** simulation results confirm that the transfer delay can meet the standard requirements under all *** particular,the probability is greater than 99.996% for redundant MTs and networks,and the standard of transfer delay in CTCS-3 will be improved inevitably.

In this paper, a nonlinear control scheme for dynamic voltage restorer (DVR) under grid voltage sags and nonlinear loads is proposed to mitigate the voltage disturbances for loads. First, the nonlinear model of the system consisting of LC filter based on a feedback linearization technique is obtained in the d-q synchronous reference frame. Then, the controller design of the linearized model is performed by employing the sliding mode control, where the load voltages are kept constant by controlling the d-q axis components of the DVR output voltages. With this scheme, the power quality is significantly improved, compared with the traditional methods with the PI controller under grid voltage sags and nonlinear loads. Also, the system cost and power loss of the proposed DVR is significantly minimized thanks to the use of a smaller number of power switches (four-switch three-phase inverter) with a lower rating voltage without degrading the compensation performance of the DVR. Simulation studies are performed to verify the validity of the proposed method. © Springer International Publishing AG 2018.
